And I'm subscribeb to both your channels before seeing those comments! Hi from Belgium 😊 Thanks for being inspiring ❤ please make a video together talking about design 😂
I love how you’re taking your time putting your spaces together. Refinement takes time. When people throw spaces together too quickly, it shows. Your apartment is coming together nicely.
Agreed! Woodworker here: you could pick up 4, cheap 2x4s and connect them as stretchers between the desks. Although they are stronger oriented on their side, you could attach them face down so they’re less obtrusive.
Yes, nobody uses rubber trees indoors anymore in the US. Very MCM. She will perk up with more light, it is odd to see a rubber tree that wide, that plant is searching for light.
You should consider the intensity of the sunlight before choosing. I’ve got pebble in a south facing bedroom and it has worked wonders this summer. Giving it a cool/cold feeling - but still transparent. For a living room facing south or west I would go for Linen. For more east/north facing livingroom I would go for no. 1. to get it a feeling of extra sunlight from the warmer fabric tone.
Maybe you can change the wheels of the projector cabinet for wheels with metal? I love to watch it all come together. Your thought process makes total sense. I’m involved!
I just moved into a new apartment four months ago and am LOVING this slow, intentional decorating series. So much more realistic and relatable. Thanks for taking us through your thought process.
I totally get your comment about the plant! I live in the Netherlands, and I had exactly the same feeling about some of my own tropical plants. Though not with all, and I noticed I’m most often bothered by the rather thick feeling tropical plants. Maybe it’s even more it’s density in shape and thickness of leaves, and it’s rather dark colour, that is bothering you than its origin. I can imagine a more light filtering plant, with potentially thinner and more whispy leaves, would create a beautiful juxtaposition with your grounding couch. Love how it’s taking shape! And love the beige for the curtains!
For the curtains, definitely the Beige (Green). As you said with the sofa, the contrast will be nice in a very light white room. I have off white linen drapes from Ikea and I regret not getting something cosier for our Berlin living room. The white sort of feels cold in winter, and we get a lot of that in Berlin...
I need a 4 hours video, i'm being serious haha. I'm an architect and I really love your content. Your apartment is getting super nice and cozy. (I vote for linen by the way)
Don't prop up the branches of the tree with a stick; the support stick will end up being a constant eyesore and you'll have to wait years before the branches thicken enough that they can support themselves without the stick. I'd suggest instead getting some bonsai wire and wiring the branches into the position you want them to be in - this also allows for making more interesting organic shapes with the branches. A second thing you should definitely consider to make it more tree-like is prune the lowermost leaves so the foliage is concentrated around the apical growth points which allows you to see the branch structure; this'll make the eye read it as a tree rather than a bush. I second removing the two smaller cuttings as well.
If you remove the lower leaves make sure to cover the ground and couch beneath. The tree will drip out from the wounds a milky like sap that could stain!
I’ve worked at nurseries for years and the ficus you bought is beautiful! I’d keep an eye on it during the winter months since it’s quite far from the window. If it starts dropping leaves or turning a bit yellow you might need to bring it closer. It will be a good test run though! One option for height that’s narrow (most tall, thin indoor plants need either a big grow light on them or to be immediately next to a window) would be a vining plant on a moss pole. Monstera deliciosa are common because they grow very fast but can be wide without pruning, Monstera adansonii and a few other in the genus tend to have smaller leaves while still being vigorous. There’s some unusual Scindapsus and the like that also look stunning on a moss pole because it’s similar to how they grow in the wild and their leaves shingle it really beautifully. I will say that grow lights have become much more attractive and versatile in design, including just bulbs that fit inside any modern lamp. A spotlight situation just on the plant so you can grow anything there. I know exposed bulbs are your nemesis so I say this as a last resort! I’ve worked with quite a few designers locally and choosing large plants for high end layouts is so challenging. They often initially look best far from a light source but wane over months. And few things are as ugly as a big dying plant in a corner! Fingers crossed yours thrives, it’s pruned in a way that’s quite beautiful. Often younger Ficus elastica plants will grow in a single narrow column that could also work but it will be less visually interesting and need a good amount of light to look their best. Good luck, I adore your videos!
Def would go with the beige! I think it would go really nicely with the warmer wood hues that you have going and will compliment the dark green of the tree. love the idea of the file cabinet as a side table! love cross-sectional shopping in general. I just got a wired, linen lined toy basket from the children section as a hamper for my bathroom and I am OBSESSED. never left a youtube comment before but really wanted to reach out how much I enjoy your content!!! (your calm voice and pacing is a big, big plus in these super fast paced, try-to-put-in-as-much-information-in-the-shortest-time-as-possible tiktok times we are all living in! :))
The apartment design is really coming together… love all the new pieces…The chair is incredible! For the curtains, my vote is Beige.. The weave seems more airy with the light coming through.
That armchair really brought that space together. I love it! I think the height difference with the sofa plays off each other. I've been inspired for our renovations.
in regards to the rubber tree plant, depending on how much light it receives from the back corner, the plant might start to thin out the foliage. it will also start to turn towards the source of light. rubber trees typically require south or west facing light in the northern hemisphere. it will likely not grow up towards the ceiling but into the space towards the window. i hope the light runs deep into the room. :) if it's a darker corner, zz plants, snake plants, and dracenas are often sold large and are hardy! they're all also very structural, like the beautiful rubber tree you have.
Your apartment is looking amazing. What a great idea how you created the work station. Your videos are very soothing and relaxing. Thank you for sharing
Just seeing the swatches in the space, Beige looks the best. The subtle green tones in it marry well with your new couch’s fabric and the warm wood of your coffee table.
1000% agree you should paint that side table. Obsessed with the chair. Pairs so nicely with the pendant light and floor lamp. It adds a tall, whimsical element to the space juxtaposed against the solid couch. Nice addition of the "built in" desk, and agree that it adds depth, dimension and purpose to what was a space room. The long horizontal shelves will emphasize the language and bring it all together - so good, well done!! Love your content x
I used to work at a large greenhouse. If you want a more vertical look AND you need a new pot you can get a taller pot and build the bottom up so the tree is sitting up a few feet off the ground. I don't think you would mind the bushy effect as much if it were physically higher in the room.
i really like plants and im from northern germany, so its a similar climate. most plants in garden stores are domesticated tropical plants so they will survive the indoors. most garden centers also only offer domestic plants for the outdoor section, which will rarely survive indoor conditions, sadly. they need set seasons, cold temperatures to 0°C celsius in winter and wind/rainwater, as well as a lot of space for the roots. unfortunately, you also have to keep your indoor conditions such as light, temperature and how willing you are to water it in mind, when it comes to designing with plants so you can enjoy them longterm. id suggest trying to prune it first. maybe you will like it afterwards, pruning can change so much in a plant. otherwise i can maybe suggest a ficus benjamina, which looks native-y enough and is good for easy-ish indoor care. also, im not sure if you'll like them but i personally love mature dracaena reflexa var. angustifolia since they grow elegantly, kind of minimalist, yet controrted. i just love looking at them and they are usually very easy to get in europe and also easy to keep alive.
I was going to ooint out the same thing. Northern outdoor plants are not suitable for indoor warm-all-year-round conditions. For indoors you need plants that naturally live in warm climate, therefore tropical plants have spread throughout all Nordic countries because the iindoor ”climate” works for those.
Great video as always Noah! For the fabrics, I think Beige is best. Reason is, linen and pebble are both shades of a raw linen colour, so they give a "I'm purely natural, not synthetic in any way" vibe, but I think that doesn't fit with some other elements of the space that are roaringly man-made, like the formica, the chrome and the filing cabinet.
Love all of your ideas, Noah! The space has a timeless yet modern vibe. Totally agree with painting the wooden side table. Also, your desk setup is inspired. Maybe a centerpiece between the two computers? Nothing too elaborate. Perhaps a sculpture or floral arrangement. Just something that maintains balance so that the eye isn't drawn immediately to the screens. Splendid work, sir! :)
I defer to your choice in the fabric for the blinds. I would never presume to know better about such a choice than you! I also admire how you managed to show the dog, Gigi, with such good contrast to your dark clothing, and her white coat echoed in the candlestick on the table. Even by accident your design choices work!
I get what you mean, all of the samples are gorgeous. I like beige and linen better, and maybe would go for beige if its a closer approximation to the chair colour. Also the corner plant is really beautiful, I like that its bushy actually. Your house is coming along really well!! Excited to see what is next
One thing to consider is inside climates are different to outdoor climates, which is why generally the plants that thrive indoors aren’t the same plants you’d find natively outside, and often tropical. I’m sure there’s a bunch of exceptions, but really big plants that can handle indoors and low sunlight you might struggle to find native to Denmark
I love the plant. rubber plants are quite popular in Denmark and have been for decades , I think it's a nice contrast , great idea with the office space, looks good and very functional
I like the colour linen. I did Roman shades in the windows of my living room this year, and there's an odd shaped window on the dining side, giving a different vibe. I chose pistachio green as an accent colour for the odd window and it worked wonders!
I've always bought a Kentia palm and put it on a low table in a big basket. They can cope with darker corners and have a nice structure but are also quite texural. I tie string around the fronds so they collect together. A lamp underneath makes fantastic shadows on the ceiling, too.
I relate to the sentiment about the non wood dining table. I’ve been looking for weeks personally and couldn’t pinpoint why a wood kitchen table felt off. But this is exactly why! Makes sense to me. Anyway love your everything. Thank you for making videos. x
noah, everything is SO GOOD (!!). I will do the DIY desk station in my next place for sure. also the pernilla chair! As for the plant, I think a draceana will fit the place better than the ficus and it's leaning towards the vertical. It's a more airy/faded out plant and less bulky. As for the projector holder, i kinda love how it relates to the painting but i get your point. Maybe painting it an olive color would give the illusion of an extension of the sofa, beige would work if you want it to blend in. I personally like Pebble. It's more neutral, fits more with the sofa imo! Can't wait for the next design updates!
Your ficus needs a lot of light so you may need to reconsider position. You can stake it more upright but ultimately the branches will try and grow towards the light. Love the sofa!
hi, certified arborist here! cute ficus, and i love your channel so so much. you probably already solved the plant situation but if not, i’d suggest *not* staking it but rather pruning it to promote more top growth. don’t take off too much at once, but perhaps take off a couple of those smaller diameter lateral branches without taking the main stem (with the thickest diameter) which will tell it to grow higher instead of bushier. then in a year or two revisit it and take off a few more if you think it needs it. ❤
I love the sofa but would definitely need taller legs on it as it is super low to the ground and I am old. You can use the drawers for storage. Love the new chair. I like all the samples. You can't go wrong in my opinion. Love the place.
As a knitter, I love the idea of a knitted lampshade! That’s going to be so cool. I’ll be on the lookout at the thrift stores for a lamp that could work for that
That drill is so cute! It looks like a little birdie! I would have pulled the drawers out of the ikea dressers and drilled up into the ply from underneath insuring a clean no hole surface though. Then put the drawers back in and have fun❤
Yeah I was a little bit furious (haha ofc not really) when he drilled from top to bottom instead of from inside the chest. Then again, the plywood is so slim, there would have been a good chance it cracked on top.
Hi Noah! New to your channel, love your eye. Trim the plant in the shape you want. Remember though that over the years it should grow taller. I believe it’s a fig tree…grows easily and fast. When your trimming it it will leak out sap which can be irritating to the skin and can stain just use a paper towel on the ends for a few minutes until it’s done weeping. You can take the cuttings and use them in a vase. They should produce roots and you can give the babies away. Agree , take out the bottom pieces added and give them away. Hope that helps
loving the series! my wife and i just bought a mid century home and it’s empty and i’m terrified trying to work out what to put inside! it’s so helpful to see your process, and i love the aesthetic of your video style too! thanks from california!
Your apartment reminds me of Roy Anderson's movies, in a good way :). Also, for the plant, I think you are totally right. A nicely shaped Dracaena Marginata would fit perfectly in that corner. They are almost like a sculpture rather than a plant.
I like the linen best. The beige is to light both in how much light is coming into the room and fabric wise, just too wispy for the sofa and other elements in the room. I might add that I have the same light gauzy 100 percent linen curtains in my living room and I love them! But here in your space they need a little more weight. The pebble though is too heavy and would compete with the sofa. The linen is the perfect in between. I agree with you about the yellow tone of the roll cart, whereas the teak or maple tone of the coffee table goes wonderfully with the sofa color and floor..., I also agree that matching it to your coffee table would be a mistake. And I like what you said about it makes everything look too matchy, matchy when pulling the color from the painting. That's the difference between a room that looks by the book decorated and one that has been curated over time. Ultimately, I'd would look for a different end table and a different solution for the projector. However, if you keep it, I agree with painting it, something similar to the wall so as to make it disappear or staining it bringing in some orange tone still keeping it light. The yellow needs to go LOL! Another thing you might do is to make a cloth skirt cover for it that could be pulled back when the projector is in use. I'd make it a light color, maybe the same fabric as the curtains. Although, that might be too much with a fabric knitted lamp shade. I like what you did with the desk. It turned out better than I thought it would and it works aesthetically, but I wouldn't like facing the wall and having my back to the door. So functionally it wouldn't be something I'd want to live with. Love your channel Noah.
im inlove with the "built-in" desk. the color is absolutely gorgeous, but I'm excited to see what stain you decide to do. just genius, although another sheet of plywood would be a good idea. i love the beige curtains, it'd be fun to add a different subtle color that the light will highlight. it's my favorite out of the three. AND THE COUCH?? it looks so comfortable to nap on 😭
I really love the new items and the thoughtful attention you've given to every detail in the space! Personally, I find that home offices often end up being the least attractive areas. They tend to gather clutter and feature a lot of cables, monitors, and practical but not always visually pleasing office chairs. So I would probably consider a solution which allows you to hide the office in case you want to chill at the dining area and just forget that it's also an office. I am sure your creative mind can find a beautiful solution :)
i might be biased since i had a rubber plant at home growing up and i automatically associate it with cozyness but i think the tree looks perfect in that corner, it adds such a homey and warm feeling to the room. also, beige is my favorite color wise too, it seems thinner than the other two as well which would let in more light :)
I’m voting for linen because I like the way the light filters through and I think it will diffuse on your furniture the best. I like the texture of it too
The apartment looks amazing. I think the projector table would be really nice in a pale yellow, complimenting the beautiful chair. The Swedish brand Klint have some beautiful shades and offer adhesive samples on their website. On the tree, I have a ficus Benjamin Twilight, I think it could be a nice option for your space, and it is quite affordable. Looking forward to seeing the space as it evolves!
For the plant, you can change it into a taller / bigger planter. It’ll instantly give it a few more inches, and more room for the roots will encourage more growth. You can remove the lower branches and prune some branches on the top to lessen the bushiness.
I'm so curious how your desk space will look after you put in the plank! Since I moved house almost a year ago I've been struggling with the exact same setup, coincidentally! Round dining table with four chairs with a long wall behind it where me and my partner have our computers. I had something similar in mind as you, one long slab of wood to make the desk with dressers underneath (they'r now two desks pushed together) but I was stumped on what to put on the wall behind them. One long plank sounds amazing, thank you for the inspiration!
I really like the way Pebble looks on the window, a bit of brightness to it. Linen looks the most gray to me and the darkest which I’m not sure if you’d like. I think the best options are between beige and pebble. Beige, like you said, has a nice green to it but on the white surface looks creamy which might be too apparent when the sun has gone down. Pebble looks nice when light comes through it and on the white surface is a nice blend of beige and gray somehow . The order from brightest to darkest would be beige, pebble, linen. They’re all great but depends on the mood you’re going for. My vote would be for Pebble. Also for the desks I would consider putting L brackets on the sides of the dressers or on the back wall to secure it more :) I’ve never built a desk but I’d figure that the sturdier the better. Can’t wait to see the next home update!
Totally feel your comment about the rubber plant. I had two big banana plants for years but they didn‘t feel quite right anymore. I have sold one of them two weeks ago
I bought a couch in my early 30s but after 10 years I realised that I want one taller in the back in order to rest my head and that's something I realised when you get older : you don't only go for the beauty but also for the comfort.
This was so fun, thank you for sharing all this with us! I love the filming cabinet repurchased as an end table. It is such a great option for the projector. I don't mind the color but I think you made great points about why it isn't the best fit for the space, I think painting it would be great for it and the whole room
Do you know Alejandra Cerda Ojensa? She lives in Copenhagen too, and by coincidence she has a chair exactly like the one you put on the balcony. Fellow small channels- you two should join forces! Absolutely love this video

You can remove some of the lower leaves and prune back some of the branches to give it more of a shape
@@benjiplant I was literally just about to tell Noah to “ask Benji” about the plant 🙌🏾😆. I knew you’d know what to do.
Thank you friend!!
i love this little convo happening here between 2 TH-camrs I watch ❤
I would also raise the pot a little bit, place it on a low table or on another pot turned upside down
This is so funny! I sold you the chair that you put on the balcony! But the Pernilla looks amazing there. Happy to hear you like Swedish design. 🥰
Omg what are the chances this is so funny 🤍
Haha.. this is lovely.. what are the chances indeed ❤
And I'm subscribeb to both your channels before seeing those comments! Hi from Belgium 😊 Thanks for being inspiring ❤ please make a video together talking about design 😂
put the plant on a pedestal or stand to elevate it and get more verticality. i like it!
The plant needs light! It is not a piece of furniture or a sculpture, but a living being.
Just what I was about to comment too!
I love how you’re taking your time putting your spaces together. Refinement takes time. When people throw spaces together too quickly, it shows. Your apartment is coming together nicely.
Hi! I worked in an art gallery, and I might recommend to hang the pait a little higher. The heat can damage it.
The plywood is too thin, it will bend under the weight of your arms. Double the thickness and maybe add a beam underneath.
Looks really cool, tough!!
Agreed! Woodworker here: you could pick up 4, cheap 2x4s and connect them as stretchers between the desks. Although they are stronger oriented on their side, you could attach them face down so they’re less obtrusive.
If the plant is so happy in that region that it has filled out to that extent, then it belongs there. Don’t hate on her because she’s beautiful 😊
for real! I would understand if the plant wasn't thriving but she's full and happy!
Yes, nobody uses rubber trees indoors anymore in the US. Very MCM. She will perk up with more light, it is odd to see a rubber tree that wide, that plant is searching for light.
@@rockshot100 the plant isn't searching for light - it's so wide because it's been pruned many times.

Raising your plant up higher would balance out its shape really well, make it seem less "bushy" in the corner.
Was going to say the same thing. Repot the babies to go elsewhere and raise the big one higher. It should make a huge difference.
The couch looks so nice 😍! For the fabric samples I would rank them:
1. Linen
2. Beige (it reads a bit yellow on camera?)
3. Pebble
1000% agree you should paint that side table. Obsessed with the chair. Pairs so nicely with the pendant light and floor lamp.
Coziness achieved! I’ll have to rewatch your video on lighting before winter arrives. ❤
Looks great! Love the chair and the lighting in the living room, can't wait to see what you do with artwork.
i like the earthy tone the beige one brings into the room!
Love the Pernilla. Great find !
You are crazy talented, seriously wow
The slight green tone of beige would be a nice subtle call back to the sofa!
Then again, the plywood is so slim, there would have been a good chance it cracked on top.
yes paint it. such a perfect height. Love your channel and how you are putting your apartment together. Loving the armchair
The office space is so exciting, looking forward to that
i might be biased since i had a rubber plant at home growing up and i automatically associate it with cozyness but i think the tree looks perfect in that corner, it adds such a homey and warm feeling to the room. also, beige is my favorite color wise too, it seems thinner than the other two as well which would let in more light :)
I’m voting for linen because I like the way the light filters through and I think it will diffuse on your furniture the best. I like the texture of it too
Got so excited when I saw that there’s a new video. Love the Copenhagen apartment ones.
Hiii Noah! thanks for the sofa, we’re sooo happy with the purchase and we use it all the time 🎀
All the blinds options are great but I like the greenish beige! It would look great with your slightly green sofa.
I love the texture of the beige fabric.
I would choose the beige one, I think it's the most cozy.
Looking forward to seeing the space as it evolves!
this was a treat, thank you for the long video!
I missed you! I love all your new furniture finds. Exciting to follow along. I also have a Hay Mags, and it's so comfy.
For the tree use bonsai wires to give the shape you prefer, and prune it to reduce the bush
I think you could also switch out the wheels to your rolling cart! Some vintage rolling cart wheels would look soo good
Totally feel your comment about the rubber plant. I had two big banana plants for years but they didn‘t feel quite right anymore. I have sold one of them two weeks ago
I like Pebble the most :) i actually like the structured look a lot. Great video, i admire your style 🤍
My parents have a large Ficus Benjamina that reads less tropical and more like a tree. It's also very easy to take care of
Your videos are so calming
I bought a couch in my early 30s but after 10 years I realised that I want one taller in the back in order to rest my head and that's something I realised when you get older : you don't only go for the beauty but also for the comfort.
I do like the wood tone of the file cabinet. If goes nicely with the Pernille chair.
loveeeeeeeee everrything... im waiting and looking forward to the next video!!
This was so fun, thank you for sharing all this with us! I love the filming cabinet repurchased as an end table. It is such a great option for the projector. I don't mind the color but I think you made great points about why it isn't the best fit for the space, I think painting it would be great for it and the whole room
Autocorrrct really had things to say, filing cabinet*, repurposed*
Do you know Alejandra Cerda Ojensa? She lives in Copenhagen too, and by coincidence she has a chair exactly like the one you put on the balcony. Fellow small channels- you two should join forces! Absolutely love this video
yes!! i very much second this! i love her. i think some kind of collaboration between these two would be a beautiful thing
Turns out she sold it to him! She commented haha
I like linen the most. Super relaxing vid !
I'm about to move into my own new apartment and your apartment set up series is providing me with so much inspiration!!
chair looks great!
The flower arrangement!!!
love seeing the diy, i cant wait to see the shelf it gives me ideas for my space
Beige seems best tonally and I think, at scale, will give the loveliest filtered light
Definitely beige. The DIY desk looks fab😊
I was thinking this exact thing about the plant and happy you came to the same conclusion.
