@@danmakuman That is true, it's mostly up to the composer and not the chip. Any sound chip can have bangers with enough skill, inspiration and effort, even the least capable ones. Umemoto is really good at that

Later, a bunch of members got together to release a trio of absolutely *towering* funk albums under C-Jeff's Ubiktune label. (Can't recommend those albums enough.)

Although the YM2608 is a great soundchip, it takes a master composer and sound designer like Ryu Umemoto to really get the best out of it
Both are marvels of engineering, the chip is amazing, and so is the composer.
