- It's the second episode in our road to master with Zangief! It's been a while since the first one where we gave a basic overview/guide of the character and played our placement matches. We also just lost to Snake Eyez in CPT to qualify for Capcom Cup so maybe we have absorbed his power.

I may pick up Zangief soon but only after I get better with other characters I feel he's relatively advanced not weak just advanced.
Zangief is one of those characters that really shines with skill but the skill in Zangief can be hard to perceive to the observer.
I agree, but also he feels hella dependant on matchup.
He's weak AND advanced. He's not unusable, but he definitely has flaws that aren't really comparable to most of the cast. SF6 is pretty well balanced overall, but Zangief is definitely near the very bottom. There's just not a massive gap.

you mention gief is fun...i think you should do a character fun tier list. it would actually give lots of players an idea of what direction they should try to go in

But fun is relative... some people may find Gief super fun others find him miserable to play.
I think the instant air spd shortcut should work on both sides regardless of your input side as long as you hit each direction once.
You gotta delay the kick slightly more though if you go forward to back or bear grab will come out instead. Lot more consistent to just go back to forward I feel
Im not a Gief main but i love watching his mirrors
I hate the mirror as a Gief player (not main), at Plat or low diamond it becomes drive impact simulator.
I really love to fight other zangiefs as I like seeing how others play
Gief just gets me hype.
Personally I'm trying to get more characters to platinum, and Zangief is tougher than the other characters I've played so far. I'm at Gold 4 right now I believe. Looks like I really need to learn some more combos with him.
From my experience if you're patient enough you can get plat pretty easily without knowing a single combo by just being patient and studying the opponent's bad habits. Also when in close quarters make sure to use the running grab more ;D
@@FLYZYyeah, my combos aren't great at all but being able to recognize when I can punish with one of my command grabs or using the right normal throw at the right time, or have conditioned my opponent not to jump, or recognizing the right time / space to air spd is crucial. Also you gotta get good at the grappler jump. Lol he's just really different from a normal character .

What's your 720 pattern on leverless? That's the one thing that keeps me from switching to purely a leverless controller for Gief.

@@qlasalle what's your advice? I can do the 720, but I miss more than land. I know the 720 patterns from SF5 don't work on SF6.
I don't know exactly what you mean, but I normally buffer it during a jump or a jab string.
@@sanicboi9187 yeah, I do the same. I miss the inputs sometimes. I'm looking for a way to consistently hit the 720. It's much easier on an arcade stick
i just slide back and forth and press up with right thumb, same concept as I showed for spd
Wow, THREE command grabs... 😂😂😂 And they say Gief is trash! Although his SA1 isn't good as a reversal. But Gief still has potential to beat high tiers, as Snake Eyez demonstrated against Reynold's JP and won a tourney.

Zangief - Dhalsim is very bad for Zangief. It's just because it's Nephew in Diamond rank.
