Man, Dog Soldiers is one of my favourite movies of all time. A masterclass in the blending of drama, horror and comedy. Spoon in particular is a highlight.
Dogs Soldiers is a classic its funny as well the bit where Cooper is grinning and face-to-face with the werewolf Ryan and Cooper says hey Ryan have ya tried lickin' ya own balls yet?🤣🤣
@@WolfmansGotNards man i really want her to make it, escape and survive, so much i can almost taste it....and she never does, makes me feel pretty volcanic too ! lol
It's worth trying some older ones. There was a time when Britain cornered the market in horror movies. The Devil Rides Out (1968) is a good one to get started.
Hello again, The descent, I don't know if I ever got to see the second one but the first one was excellent. And yes Eden Lake was a shocker especially the ending. OMG The dog soldier, holy hell great movie 🍿. Of course 28 Days and 28 Weeks, both are great plus casts too. As always great recap 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Good picks, The Cottage is excellent one of the best of that decade a crime so few know about it, another two to be on the look out for is "Severance" and "Wilderness" both from 2006.
A great and horror-savvy list of films with differing tones and directorial approaches, ive seen them all, all interesting, fun and yes, horrific on many levels, Eden Lake - the tone and how it makes you feel - reminds me of The Last House on The Left, a real " Grueller " with a distinctly unpleasant and nasty edge showing what violence and its consequences are really like without the Hollywood glamour. A fun selection, i always thought CREEP felt like The Midnight Meat Train short story before it was made into a film, it had that feel to it, so ive always liked it. Thanks for the fun video !
Nice list, I've seen the majority but I won't comment on every single one I've seen, just a couple. The Descent first up, my favourite of the list, love rewatching it every year Creep - every time someone mentions Creep they're always referring to the 2014 one, but this is the one I always immediately think of! First saw it in college when it was new, revisited it again last year and still enjoyed it. The Cottage...I saw this on TV years back. I remember not particularly enjoying it but I also don't remember a thing about it so may be time to give it another go, thanks for the recommendation. I'm not sure if I ever got around to Eden Lake. Dog Soldiers and 28 Days Later I haven't seen for years but I still have my dvds.
The US has a similar movie to threads called the Day After starring Jason Robards. Where Threads is worst case scenario of a nuclear attack, The Day After is a best case scenario of a nuclear attack.
Top list Barry. Id definitely add 'In Fear' 'Driving to a music festival in Ireland, a new couple become lost and are then set upon by a tormentor with an unknown motive.' Expert thumbnail 😂
Okay, so my favourite movie is The Wicker Man (1973) so I’ll start by saying you need to watch it as soon as possible. Yes, it’s not for everyone and I regularly hear people complaining it’s boring, nothing much happens and it’s just too bizarre but I’d heartily disagree despite understanding and appreciating we all like different things. But for me it’s a film that I first watched on TV aged 14 and have since watched it nigh in every year and grown to adore it. Is it horror? I guess so but I also feel it’s so much more … a thriller, drama even a musical with the superb soundtrack but it’s a truly unique film that I can’t see I’ll ever tire off with a superb cast, a smart, intelligent screenplay and a timeless ending … … as for other classic British horror in recent years I’ve loved Enys Men (another film many say is really boring) and Starve Acre, a superb adaptation of a great novel. Sticking with folk horror In The Earth impressed me, especially the sound design plus stuff like Frightmare, The House of Whipcord, Symptoms, Psychomania, Penda’s Fen and Deep End (Not technically horror but strangely unnerving nonetheless) … As for Under The Skin I remember when it came out I reviewed it twice, once as a straightforward, surreal, sci fi/horror hybrid and then again as a study of how we perceive ourselves and others and how what we look like can affect ourselves and others. As someone who’s struggled with BDD for most of my life and still finds it frequently crippling to see and accept my appearance to the extent I barely go out unless I have to I found the film as emotional and heartbreaking as I did unsettling. Adam Pearson, especially, blew me away with his performance and willingness to not shy away from addressing issues of physicality and prejudice and the films Chained For Life and the recent A Different Man are both well worth your time … Anyhow, I’ll leave it there before my battery dies on me but try and watch The Wicker Man as I’m always fascinated to hear others opinions.
I like this list. I haven’t seen some of these movies yet but Threads has been on my list to watch for a while so I need to get on that. 28 Days is my favorite from the list, so far. The Descent is HORRIFYING! I loved it.
Bold to assume you've only seen Hush 😅 because nope - long been a fan myself. From the South West myself so seen all of these many times, kinda a sucker for our home grown films which when we do get it right we really do but when british films get it wrong - oh boy we crash and burn.
Great list u have there Barry as ive seen all these movies either on dvd - blu ray & cable channels. As for Eden Lake i didn't like that it left me feeling uncomfortable + the ending didn't feel right to me either. Heres a couple more British horror films --- The Ritual --- 28 Weeks Later --- Rawhead Rex --- Comedown (2011). Great video as always Barry look forward to the next one 😎👍🏴
@@WolfmansGotNards Should watch them if you have time there is a grusome scene in it, i won't spoil it and say what it is but when i seen it i was like my god, i'm looking forward to the new slasher film Heart Eyes, that Mason Gooding is a good Actor.👍And 28 Years later just looks amazing.
This list is just the type of list I get something from, No BS, not ranked, no spoilers, I've seen about 4 of em but love finding one's I've not heard of . TY for a informative upload. Cheers from Liverpool ✌️

My one cent has to be The Shadmock from the 1981 anthology Monster’s Club. Scary little horror flick 💀
The Decent is great, Decent 2 don't bother.
Great list...Absolutely love Creep & Descent. Another good one you didn’t mention is The Reeds (2010)

We got Boyz n The Hood in our class. 😂

Oh yes, The Children. It's a must-see. Maybe around Christmas time though.
