A pen! You absolutely need a pen if you travel anywhere internationally. I don’t even know how many times I’ve been in a situation where passengers are handed their immigration/covid quarantine forms, and don’t have a pen to fill them in. I always end up lending mine, and I actually think it’s a good idea to bring 2-3 pens just to help people around you.
YES! So true. It's easy to find a scrap of paper, not so easy to find a pen. Plus, the forms! A lot of things are electronic now but I'm thinking of all the times the flight attendants have passed out paper forms and all the passengers look at each other like "You got a pen, 'cause I don't?".
I pack a nasal spray and a small tin of Vaseline for keeping my nose happy. The dry air really upsets my nose. Also extra scarves or even one of those quilted jackets that scrunch small so you can lean on arm rests or the window without the hard surfaces digging into you. You can ask cabin crew for more blankets and pillows to do that as well.
I take 1/2 a sleeping pill when boarding is announced I also bring a satin pillowcase and an inflatable beach ball. During take off I blow the ball and pop it into pillowcase. Once in the air I put the tray table down, the pillowcase with beachball on top, sleep mask on and earplugs in. Lay forward on the tray pillow and lights out!
Lip balm, floss picks or Wisps disposable toothbrushes, gum, and Ear Planes for relieving pressure during the descent. Also, wet wipes to freshen up and travel size spray disinfectant to spritz surfaces like your tray table.
My personal travel list also includes a saline nasal spray and a change of clothes, in case I spill or my luggage is delayed. My longest plane journey was from Finland to New Zealand, which was 26 hours on the way there and about 30 hours on the journey home.
In 2011, I went from Atlanta to Shanghai. I can't remember how long it was but I was in a middle seat at the back of the plane next to the restroom. It wasn't pleasant! One tip I heard that has changed the game for me is something called Airplane Pockets. It slips over the tray to give you a clean surface and also has pockets so all of those essential items are directly in front of you for easy access. I used it for the first time last week on a 5 hour flight and I'll never travel without it from now on.
My longest flight was 12 hours from Buenos Aires to Mexico. I didn't do much research back then. Now, older wiser me looks for as many tips and tricks as possible
I would suggest and of course this is just me. My fleecey weighted lap blanket. It's about 3lbs and I find it so soft and comforting with the added weight for the flight and in a strange hotel bed for added warmth or for a pillow topper. Ear plugs for a noisy flight and noisey hotel rooms. Pen and pad for declaration forms on flight. Gum, in case I'm thirsty but don't want to drink too much water to avoid the bathroom. Zip lock bag for miscellaneous and snack packaging trash. Individual wet wipes to wash up to avoid the bathroom. Perfume or scented oil to dab below your nose in case it stinks in the cabin. Dabbing it under your nose will give you some relief without disturbing others with a fragrant perfume.
Excellent video! I would add (if you tend to get blocked ears) the EarPlanes and Sudafed (one pill for each landing). Take the Sudafed at the top of descent and put the EarPlanes in at that time as well. Take them out once the AC door has been opened and you hear the PA by the ground staff.
This is amazing! Your bag description fits the bag that I am currently using lol! It's like you did a review for it. It's called Bento Bag from Nomad Lane. I've been using this bag for months now and it is such a hack. It has a trolley sleeve feature and it fits under the seat too! makes your travel more convenient and effortless and it packs like a suitcase too!
My longest flight was about 10 hours. My longest trip from point a to point b was 31 hours ( 3 planes in total). I slept on all the planes but was tired of being handled and all the airport processing. I have another long haul flight next month about 8 hours.
Good tips and very well delivered. It’s been several years since I’ve flown but we have an overseas trip planned for June so am looking for suggestions. Thank you.
It's interesting how you mentioned taking Zzzzequil and then saying Benedryl is not good for health. Well, a very few people know that these two are EXACTLY the same. Literally. The medicinal ingredient in both is Diphenhydramine which is antihistamines that has a side effect of causing drowsiness. Just for your future reference 😉
I had a flight from tel aviv to buenos aires with connection in Spain so it was 4.5 hours to Madrid then another 12.5 hours to argentina I was exhausted
I have...I got carried away during their Black Friday sale. My boyfriend loves his. I don't know that I am fully sold on the UV feature. I think Monos makes a cheaper one with the same UV cleaning technology.
A request from a fellow traveller. Please don’t bring scented products to use on the plane! Many people are sensitive to scents, and some (like me) are allergic enough that it can induce anaphylaxis. I wear a scent filtering mask, and that will do the trick for all the fabric softener, conditioner, makeup, perfume, etc etc etc. But actually applying it while on the plane could overwhelm even that.

Great tips and I'm definitely sharing them with my mom who is always struggling with sinus issues on planes! Thank you!

This is...BRILLIANT! The satin pillowcase is a great hack too. I use them at home, but never thought to up my travel experience with one.
@@TheCapsuleSuitcase I arrive rested and without tangled hair or creases in my face lol

Amazing tip! I don't suffer from that but my sister-in-law does a lot, and I'm sure many others do too! Thanks for sharing
I absolutely love your editing style! Also these items are very handy :)
Thank you for watching and for the sweet comment!
Your list matches mine exactly. And my longest flight was 17 hours. Atlanta to Johanessburg, SA.

I had no idea! Thank you for the info!
I was about to say the same thing. Allot of OTC sleep meds use the same active ingredient in Benadryl.
So far my longest Flight was Sydney to Hong Kong in 2016 but my first long haul flight on my own will be Sydney to Canada
It seems those North America to Hong Kong or Australia trips are the longest!

Mumbai direct to Atlanta, 18 hours 45 minutes
Zzzquil is just Benadryl (diphenhydramine)
Gah, you're right! Do you know if doctors discourage people from using this to sleep on planes?
We used Benadryl as a sleeping pill in the hospital many years ago. Lasted 8 hours and No hang over.
@@debbiebaitinger3843 That's good to know. I've had success with Benadryl, so I typically have some on hand to pass out quicker.

People that put their personal bags in the overhead bin are terrible and take up valuable room for carry on luggage.
I feel like I've seen more flight attendants take no prisoners and tell people to remove their purses and coats until all big luggage had been stowed.
Too much talk
