This is definitely one of my all time favorite films in general and it really opened me up to the magic and deep storytelling that movies could provide. I'm glad to see that you two did it justice and went ahead and reviewed it because it is definitely a cornerstone of filmmaking and an inspiration for so many other movies. Great job guys, keep up the amazing work and I can't wait to see the next one. 👍😁

This is one of my favorite discussions of 2001. Thanks, guys! I love to watch this movie--it soothes my existential dread.
The opening music accompanying the eclipse is the introduction of Richard Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra and was intended to depict the sunrise, and Zoroaster greeting a new phase in his life.

One of my absolute if not the best sci fi film of all time. I own it on dvd and have seen it at least 20 times. I’ve heard you guys say this one didn’t get much traction but I’m elated other folks have a chance to find out about this if they care about sci fi film history. Im glad there’s other ppl with the same perspective as mine for 2001. ✌️🤙

I think that HAL saw the flaws and the errors in the humans on the ship and hatched a plan to fake the antenna failure in an attempt to off the crew mates one by one starting with Frank, then the sleeping crewmates, and then Dave

Interesting theory! What are the flaws that HAL saw in humans?

@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ I see it as HAL seeing an imperfect life and how maybe their emotions and desires could distract from the mission. It would rid the mission of any chance that the humans being too scared or not having the guts to do what it takes to reach peak intelligence.

It’s a pretty simple idea but I’m not an intellectual so my thought goes like this - Humans are definitely the misfits on Earth in as much as being the only creatures with the power to destroy the place which does get me wondering if there was some tinkering done by science or ‘gods ‘ ! Thankyou for your work 👍😁

2001 10/10 it’s a work of art, but not everyone appreciates the Mona Lisa.
