    Does it shorten the lifespan of the bulb? Some folks said that turning on/off the bulb frequently shorten the lifespan of it. What is your experience about this? thanks!

    Hi, have you tried using a dc flow switch with relay? The one you use po is made of brass, which leaches lead to your water...

    • @jongpenaranda
      @jongpenaranda  ปีที่แล้ว

      No I haven't, I have to use this type of switch to match the voltage of my UV ballast.
      With this small valve and small content of lead (if there is?) it wont matter....but anyway, most suppliers have a standard they follow regarding health and safety to pass product.

    Very good tutorial but this will actually shorten the lifespan of your CCFL UV lamp..
    You can actually do the same function using motorcycle horn relay, mas safe pang gamitin compare sa flow switch that is running on 220V AC.
    "When the electrodes no longer emit sufficient electrons, the light burns out. As startup rapidly depletes the coating on the electrodes due to the high voltage required to get an arc going, frequent startups will shorten the life of the bulb."

      Hi, thanks for the proactive input. That quote is applicable to larger UV systems which consumes higher wattage, but may also have less effect to home units since were using ''electronic ballasts'' nowadays. However, overheating of UV lamps also damages the coating due to continuous operation which is caused by less flow of water as cooling (in which has more disadvantages). If you have enough flow of water to cooldown your system or you're in colder areas, then this flow switch is not necessary. I myself in tropical area, using this design is more efficient when it comes to temperature issues and lesser electric consumption.

      And for the flow switch itself, I have used in this video is a magnetic type switch. Which means the mechanical (water) side is totally isolated from the electrical side and the contacts are activated by a magnet, which means it is very safe even operating in 220V. Motorcycle horn relay is also a good idea but good luck with the complications with the voltage difference in your system. :)

      @garryboi15 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jongpenaranda just match the voltage of your pump.. mine is in 12v so a motorcycle relay is perfect..
      just turn ON the relay when the pump turns ON.. and your lamp will turn ON as well..
      completely safe and economic.

      @jongpenaranda  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@garryboi15 Oh i see, i agree on that design is indeed more practical. But it can only sanitise water when pump is running only, meaning the UV lamp needs to be relocated before the water tank and not after. You just need to drain and clean your tank regularly though to lower risk of microorganisms that might grow in the system overtime since you cant efficiently place your uv on the final stage before faucet.

    • @garryboi15
      @garryboi15 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jongpenaranda you can place the UV lamp anywhere in the system, the pump is just the trigger.
      as long as you did not add more air in your reservior.. it should match the pressure switch that the pump is set to operate.
      it should turn on everytime you fetch water from the faucet.

    Good day sir, ur video was very informative, but would u have any insight regarding connecting a water pump to an automatic flow switch for a whole house for instant hot when the faucet is opened?

    • @jongpenaranda
      @jongpenaranda  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks.
      Technically you can apply this design with the flowswitch to your whole house (just connect to water heater outlet pipe and wire it to the pump) as long as you have enough water pressure to activate the flowswitch, if not then your pump wont start. If that's the case, I strongly suggest to use a pressure switch, it far more safe and efficient.

    What model flow sensor is that? The first one I tried failed to turn off once activated, I think the system pressure was too high.

      @jongpenaranda  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This model is a generic type so no specific brand. Try buying a sensor which has an adjustable sensitivity like on my video.

    Sir ilang psi or gaano kalakas ang waterflow para mapagana ang switch? may nabili kasi ako na ganyan hindi po nagswiswitch kahit sa faucet ko na nilagay. sana masagot salamat

    • @jongpenaranda

      About 60-80 psi water preasure needed to activate. If you dont have enough pressure, positioning the switch vertical with the flow will help, but will have a risk that it will stay activated. Also try adjusting the sensitivity.

      Di pwede boss kasi mahina lang pressure ng pump installed.
      Double purpose kasi yung tank, it serves as storage and buffer/accumulator para magkapressure system mo.
      If you remove the tank, it will take you approx 1 to 2 minutes to fill-up a 300ml cup.

      it depends sa size ng uv lamp/s mo. Ok lang if 50-100 watts, pero i suggest for a flowswitch para di uminit masyado and maextend life ng UV lamp gas and coating. But if you have multiple UV lamps, then malakas yan sa kuryente.

    Why do you need a UV filter if the RO filters everything out including viruses and bacteria?

    • @jongpenaranda
      @jongpenaranda  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I added my UV filter as an extra precaution to get optimum removal of unwanted micro organisms. In addition, through time of use with your RO system, the efficiency drops and this may cause bacteria build up on the pressurized tank in which we cant clean regularly.
