I'm so glad that you guys did this. Hearing Brenda go track by track is amazing. Finding out about 3x2=6 so ground breaking. I always tear up when I hear it, now I understand why I get so emotional hearing it. You feel every emotion of that song. I have always wanted Brenda to go track by track and talk about both albums, this is a dream come true. The flowers that you guys gave Brenda in this video made me so happy to see that. Brenda has been such a force for us all. 🥰
A m a z I n g! Laying here with bronchitis this video has made me happy ! Brenda looks so cute and I could hear her talk and stories all day. What a great woman. I wish I could hug her and thank her ! Great job Jeremy and co. 💜💜💜💜💜
Brenda Bennett had a song several years back Private Party. So funky. Supposedly Prince gave them rights to music he did for them. He was going to do more music with them. The estate should work on putting out new music with Appollonia 6. There will never be another Vanity, but Appollonia 6 as a group also is good. The 3 ladies are great. Brenda has a throaty soul full voice. Susan Moonsise and Appollonia were great also.
I love love love V6/A6 but I am also a female rap historian as much as I love “If A Girl Answers” its my fave V6 song it is not the first female rap song. The first recorded female rap song is “Funk You Up” in 1979 by a group called The Sequence which featured R&B singer Angie Stone. I thoroughly enjoyed this video though love hearing B.B.’s stories. ❤️
@@Phonogenics101 The Sequence were a all female group. They are the first recorded female rap group signed To Sugarhill records in 1979. Members Angie B., Blondy, and Cheryl The Pearl. Bruno Mars song "Uptown Funk" has an interpolation of their song "Funk You Up" and Dr.Dre sampled their song for "Keep Their Heads Ringing" th-cam.com/video/r-08GnDOMWw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PkXE4Tiebq4sjOR1
22:20 i think that skin on skin album vanity did is really good but i really do like this album, and all the chemestey and talent and personality everyone brought ♥️
As soon as I re-listened to When A Girl Answers, all of the lyrics came back to me. 😄 It's not the first all female rap song, but iconic nonetheless. I do feel yucky now about Susan's portrayal--would never fly today. Nonetheless, loved hearing Brenda's insight.
