This is the best dog-cat fight video I've ever seen. Both are very playful and agile, yet never being mean. They took turn attacking and letting the other attack back with cute provocation, it's great sportsmanship and friendship.
They are also just the right size for sparing partners. The dog is small and agile enough to mirror the cat's moves but not too big to be slow or crushing.

It seems as though when the cat starts getting a little upset the dog rolls onto his back to defuse the situation and remind the kitty he is just playing. It's obvious they are buddies. Very cute!

Our first two dogs used to spend long periods play fighting. One was a soft yellow labrador, the other an intact lab/collie cross male, the male dog was so much stronger and able than the female lab but the boy dog used just enough strength to have a good play fight.

I usually don't comment on year-old videos, but I made an exception for this one. It is easily the best sparring between a cat and a dog that I have ever seen. They both seem very well matched and it would be tough for me to pick a winner between the two of them. That is to say, I think it's probably both of them.
It's scary how addictive this is. I've watched it 12+ times; I want to watch this with a cheesy martial arts soundtrack, because both these combatants had moves.
Cat never had its claws out. Pure paw hits. They are both playing and pulling their punches. Same for the biting. Open mouth nibbles without biting down hard. These two were having a blast and they both trusted each other.
How do you explain the cat hanging of the dog's shoulders with no claws out? I think the dog has some terrier in him, a bit of pain just increases focus
I absolutely love to see two different species of animal who are supposed to be natural enemies not only get along, but actually play together, enjoying each other's company. Long story short at one point in my life I had two dogs and two cats living in the same house together not to mention my family and I they all got along great. This is excellent footage showing how animals can get along unlike humans that enjoy killing each other

It’s cool to watch just how instinctual cats are, even when being friendly and playing. As soon as the dog breaks eye contact and turns, it’s hunting instinct kicks in to ambush. Cat also wanted to start doing the infamous kangaroo kicks which could have hurt the dog, but realized that wasn’t the correct move for playing once the dog very quietly whined.
That cat seems really out of practice, his reactions were unusually slow for a cat... In fact, the dog was kind of doing a better job of being a cat than the cat was!
When a cat is serious they are not slow and the damage is done before you even know it, and it is deadly. When they play with their littermates though it looks just like this, slow and deliberate, a slow swipe here, and a light nip there, and a lot of rolling acrobats for fun. In martial arts, it's called non-contact sparring and that is what they did. This cat was in complete control of its actions the entire time, especially as that dog laid down and exposed itself, an angry cat would have gone for the kill there. As Andrew said they were just playing.

This dog is super smart. For a dog to show his belly in a fight means he is submitting. A cat on the other hand does it to show her weapons and that is more a 'bring it on' gesture. The dog shows clearly that he knows the cat meaning of the gesture and he really seems to invite the cat to make her next move and then uses his legs like a cat would. So he shows he is able to interpret cat behavior and also shows it back to the cat to provoke her next move. (Another dog would rather stop at that point I belive.)
Both cats and dogs totally rock! Love them both, and comparing the two is like comparing apples to oranges. (Or Michigan cherries to tree-ripe Georgia peaches!!)
What fun! Part of the appeal is these two are so evenly matched, both are quick, agile and athletic. That "mutt of unknown lineage" is a beautiful dog, too. Very nice markings!
