I have never owned a soccer game, but I am looking into getting it in the future. I have often heard that the gameplay was better (depending on play style preference) with PES, but the graphics and teams were always better with FIFA.
Electric Playground Network - EPN lol volta’s already dead to 99% of the community, ea just pushed it so hard because it’s the only “new” thing they could push this year. I feel like they’re just waiting for the new consoles at this point because there’s not enough of a difference between fifa 19 and 20 to warrant anyone spend another 60+ dollars on this year’s game
Robert T if you're not a football fanatic you will enjoy yourself more with FIFA. Pes is catered towards those that want more of a simulation kind of game, FIFA is more arcadey but I'd guess it'd be more fun for those not into football like that. It also has more modes, is better online, etc
I played football for 10 years, and coached for 6 years in competitive youth football. PES is the more true to life game when it comes to realism. When I played the demo of PES 2020 I was amazed at how the AI was, the running, the passing, the overall feel of the game. If you're on PS4/PC you don't have to worry about licenses as there are option files. I downloaded and installed an option file easily on the PS4 and I have every kit for the all the leagues, La Liga, Premier League, Serie A, etc and every kit for all the national teams in the game. FIFA lost the Juventus license to PES. Say what you want, but EA has a lot of more money then Konami, so for them to even lose it is pretty pathetic. I may not be picking up FIFA 20 but as of right now I'm not going to. FIFA does have it's strong points. The presentation package is much better with it's graphics for the leagues such as La Liga and Premier League, but graphics wise and gameplay...PES is above it. The worker at Gamestop asked me why I was getting PES and not FIFA and I explained to him in detail why and he was pretty intrigued because no one ever told him about PES before. Oh and another thing. Player ID. Why is this missing in FIFA? PES has player ID for many players that dribble, run and play like they do in real life. To be missing that in their game is a huge miss.
As someone who plays a lot of sports games I spend 95% of the time with the actual game, I just care about gameplay all the other stuff is just fluff. Career modes, dynamic replays, sideline views who cares. EA has done this for years with Madden show off pretty graphics then when you get the game you realize it is horrible literally horrible and broken as can be. Same thing with FIFA, but this year the actual game itself isn’t that pretty and controls like a choppy broken game just like always with all their sports games. PES again has the better gameplay and that’s what people really want since they spend the majority of their time there. You could say Volta is cool, but I’ll play that maybe 5-15 times then never touch it again. FIFA-4/10 PES-8.5

It's too bad that Tommy is still missing, but this felt like I was watching an episode of reviews on the run on tv back in the mid 2000s! So fun to watch, and I never play sports games!
Additionally when the players play in cold conditions in PES you can see their breath. And when the ball hits them they feel the impact and cover the impacted area the ball hit.

People need to understand, Volta is an entirely separate game (FIFA Street) that is incorporated as a game MODE in FIFA 20. Actual, FIFA should be the real traditional football on the green pitch. It knew it sucked on that and Volta saved its ass a little bit. Terming FIFA better than PES just because of the VOLTA mode is stupidity.
And the sound is better in PES... the crowd sounds far more superior and more realistic. Fifa's crowd is bland and sounds like they didn't spend the time to make it dynamic.
Pes 2020 is so fun to play. I spend 5 or 6 hrs a day and i never felt bore. Fifa is also good game, but pes is something else. Developers added more animation and shows ot more realistic.

I bought Fifa 20, wasn't impressed.. returned it and bought another game. It looks broken, it most definitely isn't realistic. And now I'm thinking of going back to PES after being first a PES user in 2010, and a Fifa player from 2011 to 2019. The switch is now. PES has won me over. I want it!
Lets be honest when you watch a real football match,the pace,players movement and skill etc if you looked at both games Pes20 is as near as your gonna get right now. If you look at licensing FIFA20 obviously wins but... if you take a good look at the kits,stadiums, balls,players PES20 does have licensing for they are amazing quality. It makes it a 50/50 pull so it depends on whats important for you in a football game. I think FIFA are very fortunate to have all the licenses because if both games had them id fear massively for FIFA because PES would run away with it. Take a look at Liverpool FC, Anfield looks and atmosphere on FIFA20 compared to PES19 a year ago! The PES19 version is far better so again i think FIFA are very fortunate to have them all. Ive played FIFA since the very first one so im a massive fan but the last three games now ive had and preferred PES just for gameplay alone. Lights off,big screen playing a league... its just football. I dont get that from FIFA these days. My opinion tho!
Before this year I've never heard anyone refer to Pro Evo as "PES" like "PEZ." I always heard people say the abbreviation "P.E.S." Now all I think of is PEZ.
They are both great but I just feel like when I play PES I am playing real footie, while FIFA is a computer game, neither are better, it is just down to preference. That said I did wonder why FIFA has all the hype, they seem to have a bigger promotion machine and have paid more cash for exclusive brand rights. But it's kind of fun downloading team kits and names and installing them into PES, good way around it.

@@wolfpacsyxx - Here is a list I made somewhere else; 1) Super cancel and other button inputs not registering, including trying to bring your goalkeeper out 2) Player switching is still a mess 3) Passes going a completely different direction from where you aimed 4) Players unable to control the ball or do first time passes or shots 5) Players will literally just stand there and not bother to make supporting runs when you're attacking 6) Off ball fouls and opposition players constantly spamming double x and no fouls being called 7) Almost impossible to side step an opponent to make a pass now, way too many pass interceptions 8) You can mostly pass it around the back endlessly and your opponents can't do anything about it 9) Players will literally ignore the ball when it is right beside them, sometimes they even run away from it 10) Defenders will just stop and let the player they are marking get away completly free 11) There is very obvious scripting and momentum changes 12) Players will just get tall forwards and spam long balls the entire game winning 90%+ of headers 13) They introduced those dumb animations where your player is tired and he will literally not even bother running for the ball 14) They introduced another dumb animation were your player gets hit in the groin which renders them useless for a while
Every FIFA game has one OP thing that breaks the game, like in FIFA 14 i lost always against my little brother because he could easily give a cross to Graziano Pellé and he would always head it in. Same thing in FIFA 19, where you could flick the ball up and most of the times you were able to volley it in, even out of the box. Corner kicks to the first post were somehow always headed in with a very weird header. 4-2-3-1 was an OP formation for everybody, while in real life it depends on your style of playing. Now here we are with FIFA 20: players can't finish any header and pacy players are the only players that matter. Players like Suarez and Lewandowski who are beast in real life don't have any chance against defenders with more than 75 pace. This is why you see the same teams with only the meta players every year. The chemistry system strenghens that effect with limited options for linking players.
Best way to compare both games is on international games. PES graphics are amazing. FIFA music is amazing and all the rights to the kits. However Fifa has a monopolistic advantage, which in turn means shit for the consumer. Specially when you see PES physics, lighting and textures. Makes FIFA look washed out. I’m playing both on the one x in 4K on a Samsung curve.

Fifa wins with modes, online, licensing, presentation, interface, commentary, close up graphics mainly the kits, cut scenes. PES wins with gameplay, would say some of the stadiums look better, far out the game looks better, faces, each team feels more unique, big players definitely feel different like Cristiano compared to Messi play completely different which is great. Personally enjoy FIFA a tad more. PES is still lacking something game mode wise.

It's interesting how you think that PES is very technical. I believe personally that PES is very simple and it targets players that just want to play a kick off match real quick in their freetime, whereas FIFA is looking for players that don't neccesarily target players who ay football, but people that know their way around football stars and are familiar with the names of not only Messi and Ronaldo, but also the classics such as Maradona and Pele. It's a very dynamic difference. The rivalry is what causes the new updates and excellent gameplay. Without the rivalry, neither companies would be in a hurry producing updates and new modes like Volta Football. FIFA would be a lot worse without PES and vice versa. It's a very healthy competition.

FIFA has better kits, commentary, menus, lighting and ambience. They also have more licences and music, but PES is more enjoyable and realistic.

Pes graphics... reailism at its best. I played both and im not fan boi of any of them because this is the first time i buy a football game. Been watching on tv all my life. PES looks and feels more real. Period

I shouldn't have got pes before the patch came out the game is broken this year. I could list about about a dozen serious problems the game has.

It's interesting how you think that PES is very technical. I believe personally that PES is very simple and it targets players that just want to play a kick off match real quick in their freetime, whereas FIFA is looking for players that don't neccesarily target players who ay football, but people that know their way around football stars and are familiar with the names of not only Messi and Ronaldo, but also the classics such as Maradona and Pele. It's a very dynamic difference. The rivalry is what causes the new updates and excellent gameplay. Without the rivalry, neither companies would be in a hurry producing updates and new modes like Volta Football. FIFA would be a lot worse without PES and vice versa. It's a very healthy competition.
