If it's a proper active balancer, which it seems to be, then it is actually boosting the voltage of the high cell to an amount that is proper for releasing that charge into the low cell, at the rate which you have set. So there should be no noticeable difference in the amount of transfer based on the difference of the low and high cell, since it's all controlled by the processor. Unless they have programmed in a taper when voltages are close.

I've used this in the 14s version under the Daly label with good success

This thing has more bugs than a cricket farm. Wake me up when we get there, I'd like to get one and try it. I knew it was too good to be true.

Voltronic/Axpert is a broad range of many very popular rebranded inverters (does "MPPSolar" ring any bells? mine is EASun ISolar-SML-III-3.5kW), so this BMS you can probably connect to such an inverter with RS485 cable and make it talk to the inverter, maybe even control it, not sure what exactly have they done there. Maybe after connection is made, a new menu would appear in the app where inverter settings could be modified from the app.

It looks like this one charges the lowest cell using energy from the total pack voltage or discharges the highest cell and sends the energy to the total pack voltage. Is it possible to test this?
I like the dumb ones as they continuously shuffle energy between cells all at the same time. Not saying it's better, it's just my preference.
I just saw this brand and they looked promising but I already have a lot of balancers in stock so I didn't order yet. Glad you got some and took them apart so I now know what's inside 👍

Thanx for the video can you use it on more than 2 cells I want to know if it can balance multiple cells at the same time

It can’t see the Bluetooth because the unit turns off completely from what I can tell that’s how mine seems to be behaving after it’s done balancing. Ok wow yours seems to run flawlessly compared to how glitchy mine behaves!
I did notice my app seemed to get an update today but it only made mine now look just like how yours does lol
I can’t toggle the balance feature on and off as you could. The balance switch does not do anything for me. And mine seems to shut down completely and can’t be found on the Bluetooth either so to use it as a voltage battery monitor only would not even work for me the way it’s currently operating and shutting down as it chooses

Hi Julian. Question: Did you find the circlips satisfactory? I have the same 18Ah cells (actually ordered the cell just before your video's, still wondering how I was going to tackle that, when I stumbled on your circlip idea). But I find the contact resistance too high. It messes up the balancing due to voltage drops if one circlip is just seating differently as another. Thinking of a better way to deal with this. I also use the 10mm circlips, just to get some more force.

So protection mode doesn't shut down overvolt charging if it reaches 4.2volts?

Some of those apps need your location turned on for them to work

Question: How low can you set the start balance voltage? I have some sodium ion cells that have a max voltage of 1.85V and even the dumb active balancers set in LTO mode will only start balancing at 1.80V.

Looks like 2V is the minimum

Tell me, please, if I replace Bluetooth with Wi-Fi, will it work?

This is the SAME software for the 100 Balance BMS... so they are double-dipping using 1 piece of software for both the Smart BMS and the Balancer. I've had very bad results with the Smart Balance BMS so I returned 3 of them because they just don't work. It let one of my EVE cells overcharge, it just plain didn't balance when it needed to. Can't use them... too unreliable.
