TWO things about Jordan: Ask your unc who was Jordan before Pip came to the NBA. Jordan was always the deciding factor on whether the Bulls won or lost. James can't be compared with Jordan for G.O.A.T. James does dynamics, but nobody WANTS to guard him because He's 6'9" and was muscles. Jordan was finesse at it's best. Players TRIED to guard Jordan only to be grossly embarrassed. Jordan posterized most of the NBA. People FEARED playing Jordan because the man could make shots that would make YOU go outside and try them. Jordan is a different calibur to everybody you'd ever seen. The closest to Jordan's game was Kobe Bryant. And Kobe was a student of Jordan's. And Jordan was much worse to people before Pippen showed up. And Jordan played the GAME, not just one end of the court...or mostly one end. The best shot in the NBA was by "The Doctor (Dr. J)," Julius Erving (IMHO) when he went from one side of the court and laid the basketball up and in behind the board. Beyond that, NOBODY BUT KOBE can come close to Mike. And Magic was NASTY! What can you call Jordan at the end of his career? Looking back on everything he did, you can ONLY call him the G.O.A.T.

Favorite Jordan story came from a game against the Jazz I believe. Jordan got the ball and dunked on the head of their point guard. As Jordan went back down the floor someone from the crowd right behind the Jazz bench (it may have been the Jazz's owner or GM) yelled "Hey, Jordan why don't you pick on someone your own size?"
The very next trip down the court Jordan got the ball and dunked on the Jazz's near 7-foot-tall Center. Jordan looks at the guy who yelled at him and asked him, "Was he big enough?"

    • @bobvylan7215
      @bobvylan7215 ปีที่แล้ว +3

He dunked on Stockton and a fan followed him screaming that down the sideline. He then owned Mel Turpin and asked the fan that. Karl Malone does a great telling of that story in detail I saw once.

In the late '80s and the '90s, there was no social media, yet Michael Jordan was the most well-known person on the planet. Perhaps Muhammad Ali enjoyed similar popularity. In the realm of basketball, Magic Johnson was second, and Kobe was third. LeBron and other contemporary players are primarily recognized by basketball fans (only).

There’s a lot of Kobe people who think Kobe is the GOAT cause that’s what they grew up watching. Same for the Lebron people now. But, Kobe patterned his entire game after MJ. Was slightly better in some areas MAYBE, but overall nobody in history would take Kobe over Jordan.
Also as great as this video is, it blows through the 95-98 years which is too bad. He was killing people in worse more frustrating ways than this. That footwork only got better and that midrange was more lethal. Go check out Goat SZN channel and you can see entire yeah highlights and it’s just giving people that work game after game after game lol.

This Man, Michael Jordan, was unstoppable. And he never, EVER took a play off. He didn't ever "take it easy" on Defense... he wanted to win at all costs, and he did not care who he had to go through to get that Win!

I remember very clearly when the “who’s the next Jordan” talk started, late-midway into Michael’s ownership of the NBA and everyone in it.
We were all looking around, trying to spot the young pups who might be trying to capture some of that same lightning in a bottle, and for awhile, it looked like Kobe Bryant and the 76ers’ troublesome Allen Iverson were the ones to watch.
Of course, Iverson’s own demons pretty much neutered his career and impact on the game, but Kobe at least was able to pull a few Jordan tricks into his game as he became his own kind of great player.
But did Kobe surpass his idol? Nah. And Kobe would be the first to scoff at that suggestion.
Michael was a singularity, untouchable by anyone still handicapped with being a mere human.

Magic Johnson said: “There's Michael Jordan and then there is the rest of us.”
Jerry West is Mr. Laker. He played with Wilt, competed against Russell and Oscar, and coached Jabaar. West speaks about Jordan as if he's talking about
a demi-god. West said Jordan is a player who has done the most spectacular things he has EVER seen. Again. This is a man who played and competed against Wilt Chamberlain.
Shaq said only MJ is a 10.
I say this because all of these guys are former Lakers, and should be biased towards other Lakers. But they all acknowledge that Jordan was _that_dude.
With all due respect to Kobe (RIP) , he did not touch that level of greatness.

Also let's remember that Jordan didn't have a center or power forward scoring much more than 10 points a game his entire career. That's insane.

So, to sum it up. Jordan was Julius Erving (aka) Dr. J. On steroids. There were athletic players before him, however they weren't doing the things he was doing and could do. He was just different, and that dude!

Kobe literally patterned his game after MJ. Kobe took it so far as to even walk and talk like MJ. Even Kobe admitted MJ is the 🐐

If you really want to think about it. There were two errors of Michael Jordan. There was the rookie years into his first three championship where he was a beast. And then there was the second three Pete where he would get his team really involved. He will cruise through the first half. And then the second half he take over the game, amazing things would happen. In his final year when he played down I believe in Atlanta they had to play at the Atlanta Metro or whatever they call it. Because they sold so many tickets. That’s how many people came out to see Michael Jordan play, they filled the baseball stadium.

Awesome video my brother. I watch all those games with MJ and Pippen, back in the day. Just watching them old clips and am trying to figure out, how they think LBJ is the Goat. My son is a huge LBJ fan. I pull out the 2 3peat video of MJ and the bulls and the MJ video in college to the NBA. After he watch the video, he said dad, it ain't close. He told me that he have never seen anybody like that with kill instinct. Then he notice that no NBA player in history won 8 straight score titles, and then in one year won the DPOY, score title, regular season MVP, NBA final MVP, and championship in the same year. He said, Naw pops MJ is the Goat 🐐, it ain't even close. He said LBJ did do that, nor won 6 championship with 2 3peats. I laughed, because you can't tell my son nothing, when it comes to LBJ and Stephen Curry. He said, he saw MJ in Kobe Byrant. I told him yep, he was closes person to MJ. Thanks for the video bro😊

Two three Pete's in a row never to be beaten in a NBA final title....... undefeated. No one will ever pull off two 3 peats. He literally could float horizontally with the floor all the way to the rim and still stay at 10 ft, there's only one Jordan he's the best that's ever been or ever will be and what LeBron James only wishes he could be one day

Something else I would like to add on this debate, is the how difficult the Jordan movements are.
He has a body control way above any other player, foot work, elevation, hand control, space, time. The way he holds the shot in the air until he is almost in the floor, is so savage. I mean, anyone who has played basketball could tell you how difficult this is. The foot work he had, is impressive and very fast.
I am from Mexico, at that time he was world wide known (even without social media). And nobody, nobody ever discussed if he was the GOAT. Like is happening today. LJ self proclaimed the goat, but he is not. Sorry, but Lebron is not at this level of skill, he is just big, and obviously a big mass accelerating it will be difficult to stop. So is not something really special to do, any big player will be difficult to be stopped.
But what Jordan did, it was. The closest player to him was Kobe.

Michael Jordan was better at basketball than any man has ever been at anything they've ever done in their life. Kobe was driven. He worked harder than anyone. 100% focused on being the fastest, the quickest, the strongest, the most dominant, the best...to being like Mike, who had no example. MJ was the creator. Larry Bird said Michael Jordan is "Basketball-GOD." (Even though MJ's career record is 11-17 in the regular season and 0-6 in the post-season versus Bird.)
I wasn't a basketball fan AT ALL growing up but I've always had trouble passing by a channel with some kind of competition showing so I'd find myself watching Joe Barry-Carroll and my hometown Warriors playing the Phoenix Suns for as long as I could stand it. Ten minutes was the max. But when I came across this kid out of North Carolina playing for the crappy Bulls I couldn't change the channel. And this was every time I came across him on TV which I noticed was more and more often. It wasn't hard to catch on that this kid was hooking viewers by the millions across the country.
The references to Larry while watching Mike reminds me of the time the great Phil Jackson was asked if he had to to choose one player to take the final shot with it all on the line who would it be, Michael or Larry? Remember that? Greatest reply ever.
"If I was betting my wallet on it, I'd choose Michael. If I was betting my life on it, I'd go with Larry."
