But for me even if a number has double digits, like 12, I still see each digit in it's own separate color, I don't see 12 as a whole.

    1-yellow (slightly washed-out)
    2-deep blue
    3-yellow
    4-purple
    5-very intense red
    6-orange
    7-blue-green
    8-purple (deeper than 4)
    9-yellow (same shade as 3)
Many of these also have consistent feelings associated with them, but these are hard to explain.
I also associate months, the alphabet, and names with colors.

I do this with letters, too. It particularly helps when recalling someone's name, since names are usually associated with the color of its first letter. For example I may not remember a name, but I will remember that their name had a bright yellow color, so I'll start thinking of all kinds of names with a bright yellow first letter: A, S, T, W, Y and after while I can remember it.

I completely forgot that when I was a child I saw every number as a face with a specific emotion up until she said "numbers have personalities!". I even drew numbers in my books as the faces I saw in my mind. Numbers with more than one digit were groups of "characters" having conversations and arguments. It really clicked in when she said 9 was angry, because of how true it was. I always thought the same. It makes me sad that I forgot for so long, so thank you for reminding me, Brady and Alex!

I've always experienced 0-9 as having colors, but then the colors repeat with powers of ten; so Three is green, and so is thirty. Numbers also have weird, abstract personality traits associated with them; for example, nine is an evil plotting villain.

  • @Blizzhobbs
    @Blizzhobbs 10 ปีที่แล้ว +39

Wow, I've always thought of 4 as a "blue" number and 2 as a "green" number. Though I can't quite say that I actually see the numbers in those colors when looking at them; I suppose it's more subtle than in her instance.

In my head, numbers are things I use to count with.
For example, if I have a single walnut.

If I had a second walnut.
I would say, "I have TWO walnuts."

    Monday: Red
    Tuesday: Blue/Purple
    Wednesday: Yellow/Orange
    Thursday: Green
    Friday: Pink
    Saturday: Gray
    Sunday: Black
i think that i've associate that when i was i child, at school. My teacher did buy the notebooks with a specific color for each subject.
Math: Red, Italian: Blue, English: Green, Story: Pink, Geography: Yellow
and i associate for each day the color of the first subject of the day. I don't remember why saturday = gray. Sunday = black because on Sunday i don't have school.
(i'm italian, maybe the school system is different)

It is interesting that while the "colourful" numbers have different colours for different people, the numbers 0 and 1 are often seen as "colourless" or black or white or something like that.
I also associate numbers with colours, but not as strong as she does:
    0 - white; 1 - black; 2 - red; 3 - green; 4 - bright yellow; 5 - blue; 6 - forest green; 7 - maroon; 8 - dark yellow, almost brown; 9 - violet; 10 - light blue; 11 - skyblue; 12 - light orange; ....

I think it's because of their frequency of their use. I mean, to me Saturday is very difficult to distinct because I do a lot of things on Saturday. 0 is most of the times next to another number so it takes its color so I define it with transparent. 1 it's so common to see… it's a bit primitive it's just one unit. I see it like a bit shy, in fact to me it's white.

Yeah, that's right that each digit from 0 to 9 has its own color. 0 is white, 1 is yellow, 2 is pink, 3 is orange, 4 is sky blue, 5 is red, 6 is maroon, 7 is green, 8 is dark blue and 9 is violet. And each synesthete understands/sees numbers in a very own and special way. Anyway having synesthesia is really GREAT!!!!!

I sometimes associate objects with the things I do while that object is present.
For example, I was eating a piece of marzipan while watching a certain TH-cam video. I ate half of it. One day later as I began to eat the other half, this TH-cam video was popping into my head. I wasn't thinking of what I did yesterday. It just unintentionally thought of it.
Or as a kid I used to hear radio while gaming and I began to associate maps to songs. As the songs began to play I had to think of a certain map. But as I played the map, I didn't have to think of that song.
This isn't useful, but it's kinda interesting.

I do something like that with certain songs. Like one time while I was listening to a song called Visions, I came to a certain part in the song, and I was just listening, not doing much. But I started thinking about the TV show Wild Kratts for some odd reason. Now every time I hear that part of the song I think of Wild Kratts again. 😂😂😂

I believe what you have, is called memory, my friend. The only explanation I have for you is: our brain cells reuploads memory when we do something (eating the other half) the second or third time. It recalls a situation or feeling of the first time the 'something' happened

Half of hers were the same as mine and 2 and 4 were my favourite positive, especially as a kid (so when I was happy, the numbers 2 or 4 would stay in my mind). Crazy. I also see colours when I hear music which as a musician brings another perspective to writing stuff compared to others I guess.

I've heard of this, but I'm glad that I found another source about this! I definitely have this, I've been thinking this way for as long as I can remember. I really only think about it when it come to to age, or with years. For me, I don't relate to what you say with the factors, I just see for example: 324 - Green, Red, Purple. They don't blend together at all. Here's my list:
    0 - Clear
    1- White
    2 - Red
    3 - Forest Green
    4 - Dark-ish Purple
    5 - Light Blue
    6 - Orange-Red
    7 - Yellow
    8 - Deep Purple
    9 - Deep Red
I think it's interesting how many people see 1 as white ^^

And the personalities of colours! Yes! I totally relate to all of that!
Colours like blue and orange always seem to be the cool, laid back but at the same time leader like personalities, so the numbers with those colours stand out more to me. 2 has more of a presence than 1 due to that fact, 2 is also a number that seems to crop up a lot in my life.
7 is my lucky number because I relate to it, colour wise and personality wise. Yet I see myself as being more of an indigo. With the laid back and mysterious qualities of purple and the strong indipendant qualities of dark blue.

MY numbers are as such 0- white 1- red 2- pink 3- light blue 4- purple 5- dark green 6- navy 7- yellow 8- maroon 9- aquamarine 10- black

    it's always so funny to hear other people's colors. 0=yellow or gray, similar to y, 1=red, 2=yellow, 3=blue, 4=a bright green, 5=red, 6=a blue-green (more blue), it's a lighter kind of color, 7=purple, 8=dark, foresty green, 9=gray
I also do it with all words and letters, but only if I'm thinking about what color they are. If someone's just talking, I'm not seeing flashing colors in my head I'm focusing on the meanings of the words, but every number, letter, and word still has a strong color attached to it (though some are a little foggy if I don't think about their color often) idk if this is how everyone with synesthesia (this type I mean) has it or not

I've always had a mental association of certain colors to certain number digits, similar to what she described. I have different colors for each digit, but it's the same thing. I've never seen a number's colors as its factors and don't really think in personalities, but I've definitely always associated numbers with a color. Really cool that this is something sort of special! FYI: 0 and 1=white, 2=blue, 3=green, 4=red, 5=orange, 6=lighter blue, 7=light purple, 8= dark purple, 9=red or pink.

    @joealias2594 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    0 clear 1 white 2 black 3 blue 4 red 5 green 6 orange tinged with yellow 7 yellow 8 brownish orange 9 crimson
It's weird, writing it out like that just looks so right. It's like she says, if there were four red blocks it would just look wrong (though to me it would be perfect because 4 is red to me). Writing the number next to its proper color just has some sort of really satisfying symmetry to me. Knowing that, I wonder if I could give myself a headache by writing something totally wrong.
    0 red 1 green 2 white 3 orange 4 blue 5 yellow 6 green 7 crimson 8 sky blue 9 lime green
Hm, looking at that it's like I don't see the number and the word paired, it really just looks like two distinct colors next to each other. My brain won't associate them or match them, it keeps the work and the digit very separate. Doesn't really hurt my head though.

That is just a trend for me. The same goes for odd/even numbers (Odd numbers are more feminine. 7 is pointy, and not very feminine, but as I said the roundish 6 is also quite masculine) For me the letter "o" is not very feminine, even though it is completely round. I guess it is connected to the sound of it. That goes for most letters i guess.

This doesn't really have to do with the feel of the music, but more the color of the letter. The key of Ab is light red.

Can SLP I have synesthesia so I'll try to answer your question. No. Not for me at least. It's actually more interesting than that. For instance, 1=Yellow and 2=Green/Blue. 1/2 is simply yellow if you focus on the 1. Green/blue if you focus on the 2. If you focus on both, the 1 is yellow and the 2 is green/blue. I guess the answer is it depends. It definitely does not blend for me though. Usually one colour overpowers the other depending on the focus. Another example of this, 15. 1=yellow and 5=red. However, since 1 comes first and you focus on the 1 first, the 5 turns yellow as well. I would assume everyone is different though.

+Leah Hunter Mine are almost exactly the same, except a minor shift in that I have colors on two orders. I really want to get into why a number has more than one color. I think I know why, in a way, but would like to establish a neurologically sound explanation for it.

In a way, I think I'd arranged these a long time ago, back when I was learning about different colours and their names, and this helped to remember them. I feel like, while others' lists on here have emotional meaning, I just placed them in an order of "least to most pigment" and attached the corresponding number on that 0-10 scale. Anyway:
    0 - clear, 1 - white, 2 - yellow,
    3 - orange, 4 - red, 5 - pink,
6 - grey, 7 - green, 8 - primarily blue, but can be brown as well,
    9 - purple, and then 10 - black.
But there are several exception double-digit numbers: 11's silvery-snow, 17's turquoise.
I used to have something for 21, too, but I'm unsure of its colour lately...

Synesthesia isnt just sight you guys! Synesthesia is when two senses get mixed together. some people can taste words, others can smell numbers, some can hear textures. the more I talk with people who do have Synesthesia the more I have found it is more like a trait that we learn. As for me I can feel sounds. Growing up I was always surrounded in music be it classical, hip hop, pop, rock, or electronica and different noises have different feelings. Bass drums make my head feel fluffy...

Letters, digits and colors all have very distinct personalities and friend/family relationships. The one digit numbers are all children and then the teen numbers are all the same one digit individuals except now they’re all teenagers. Numbers are all kids who live in the same neighborhood, where 2, 4 & 8 are siblings as are 3, 6 & 9. The letters are all kids in the same year at public school. The colors are all in the same class but they go to private school.

I have this too. I didn't realize it until a couple months ago, I just thought it was something that was inside everyone's head. When I looked more into it, I noticed that not only digits but individual letters as well had colours and personalities that I associated with them.
0 is white, 1 is red, 2 is light pink, 3 is orange, 4 is blue-green, or both blue and green, 5 is sort of a burnt orange/red, 6 is darker pink, 7 is green, 8 is brown, and 9 is a deep royal purple.

I'm like this with numbers and letters. Also, some words seem to have this texture that sometimes relates to the word like, the word 'grass' seems to be spikier at the top and brown at the bottom. It also has this purple tinge, which I think is because the letter 'g' is purple in my mind. For numbers,
    0-clear
    1-white
    2-red
    3-green
    4-yellowy-orange
    5-blue
    6-yellow
    7-redy-orange
8-dark green with a tad of yellow
    9-maroon
10 is white then clear, 123 is white, red and green ext.
