Patti's sweet ... fragile + tough , streetwise + innocent , girly + grown-up and Lenny ... well ... he's just eternal ... + the bilingual interviewer/translator deserves a shout as well
Oh i remember watching this interview late at night, as a young boy after they played that amazing set - I had no clue, but now i see things with different eyes and find it even more funny.
That's funny; I have this on DVD, and I forced my husband to watch it (he isn't a fan of hers); I said you have to see this, she is so cute and giggly and sweet.... when he saw it he said "Oh JO!! She is ON something! How can you be so naive?!" :)
FUN video! Exhilerated from the performance? Jet Lag? Smoke? Maybe a combination? Tired and having fun, for sure. I think the interviewer handled himself very well! Lenny Kaye saves the day. I LOVED PSG!!! Ivan, Jay Dee, Lenny, Patti and Richard Sohl! Patti loved them all. They were her collaborators, friends, and soldiers together on the road. Fighting the good fight. Richard Soul was so handsome. He passed away, not too long after playing on "Dream Of Life". We love you Richard: rest in peace.
@Lioppaschen Hi there; for some reason, I was not notified of your response, and I just saw it now because I decided to revisit some Patti videos! I will check out that interview - thank you very much :)
Watched it live in that communist homeland of ours, our town just off the German border which enabled us to watch ARD and ZDF. When, here at 8:26, Ivan Kral spoke our language, and it must have been at 2 or 3 am, me and the other drunkards just gasped and gasped and gasped. Still remember the moment today.
Haha, this is great. I like the moment when Richard and Patti laugh at eachother because of the translation (2:10), but what happens at 2:41 and 3:33 is just hilarious. And Lenny obviously doesn't like to answer a second question. But didn't they have subtitles then? There's another German interview, with Iggy Pop, where the interviewer also translates everything.
She is fantastic..Non conformist .....outside of society ...she can do what she wants ....i love her .......of course she would be much less mischevious now....she is very gracious
Pretty sure Patti's just tired and having fun here. Perhaps a bit high from performing and a little hash but that's it. Ah, good old Lenny lol he gave a remarkably insightful response for such a dull interviewer. Although you can clearly see his annoyance when the interviewer said, "one more question" lol
I can't say what Patti was on. Some say she has told she was tripping on acid. I could easily see her having shot some dope and acting like that. Once you get up there it is not a big deal anymore when you get straight. I am more interested in the guy interviewing; because he seemed pretty unstoppable. Then I saw the quote that he said about her. And I watched the whole interview of him in much later years where he tells the story about Patti. He is actually quite believable. He may look like a weird old woman nowadays, but he has some good thoughts.
your comment is pretty ridiculous she is just laughing having fun and not taking things so seriously it's obvious that she don't care to be responding at those stupid questions
Patti has amazing long slender fingers, which seem to be a characteristic shared by artists and musos. And genuinely then (still) very shy and/or self-conscious - so her alter ego stage-persona is a paradox
I'm not interested in reading her book because she's already completely self-invented. I would rather read an unbiased account from a 3rd party. I made it through Bob Dylan's Chronicles, but can't say it was a life-changing experience.
zillaje probably tripping a bit but nothing serious. she was and is a real and true artist through and through a wandering star a beautiful soul. simple
@Lioppaschen Well I'm really surprised to hear that. I know she was very against those kind of substances; she said her health wasn't up to it, and I believe her.
@ccipollini1984 but i know how people on drugs act ive tripped like that and just cus she says she dosent see the need for drugs dosent mean she hasnt done it and who cares man its her life
@@cornel-lazar yes, you are right. The Interview is in germnan (Alan was very famous here in germany in the seventies, eighties, nienties) th-cam.com/video/fcZ0gMPu_OM/w-d-xo.html
the first writer asked if patty was stoned. No men, she wasn`t... she was comepletely fucked up! I saw her freaky show that night, on stage she was talking about beeing fucked up because of wine and acid.
that's possibly due to the fact that he was annoyed himself. he knew Patti for years before but didn't recognize her on that day cause she behaved so differently
Speed or coke and smoke Maybe some after show drinks..vodka Not dope Speed was her thing Lenny never into hard Narcs Ever Yes I've known him since a child through family here in NYC He's a Saint
Alan Banks told 30 years later in a TV show that she was on Heroin and he saw her shooting Heroin before the interview. He said about that time that is was a lot pressure of fame for her, especially from 1976 to 1979.
bautzralf bullshit man she may have shot up but it wasn't door bro but as far as I know she has a phobia of needles so I have to just take her word for it. if she's not honest then I don't know who is bro
"i lost my mind in essences tonight" she said she wasnt an acid head not at this time that was for the 60s! There stoned..., its smoke, they smoked alot of something good but Lenny is always grounded
Hahaha when she just busts out the clarinet and starts randomly playing it and walks away. She's the coolest.
She behaved like an idiot.
I like her music, but she was a brat back then.
It was the only possible reply to that question.
Patti's sweet ... fragile + tough , streetwise + innocent , girly + grown-up and Lenny ... well ... he's just eternal ... + the bilingual interviewer/translator deserves a shout as well
her face when she hears smoke on the water is priceless. i love her

This is hilarious!! Patti is great....as always. She doesn't filter, regardless of the situation...and its always beautiful.

@GREG Hubbard She was not a junkie. Why would you throw around statements like that, on someone you don't even know?
@GREG Hubbard It's your prerogative to dislike or like her music. But I knew Patti well; she hardly ever did any kind of drug.
She's smoked off her mash haha
she beautiful n so fuckin cool !.
