    Welcome to my porch ! I thought we could talk about the Shirley Fabrication 24x 36 patio smoker.
    Now listen up. This is an audio review. In the video I have random pictures of the smoker. The best way to experience this review is to just listen to it. The pictures are just there to fill the screen as you listen.
    Hope this helps if you are thinking about buying a Shirley Fabrication 24x36 patio smoker.
    For great content on the 24x 36 please go check out Fam_Eats_

      That’s a good idea. I will work on that. It has been a year since I bought it so I could work that into a video. Thank you for the suggestion

    Looks like a great pit, but I’m so in love with my 1975T WORKHORSEPIT standard flow 3/8 thick the draw is so unbelievable

      That Workhorse 1975 is taking over the market. You can tell it is influencing all the other pit makers into changing how they do a traditional flow smoker.

    You sound like me, I have 12 smokers from Texas Original 24X48 single door w/counter weight to several Lonestargrillz (which by the way is by far the best, in my opinion). I just received a 24x48, single door counter weight, 1/2” firebox with warming oven Lonestargrillz exactly like Babyback Maniacs smoker and what a beast! I also have a Gator Pit 24x48….gonna order a Shirley 24x36 like yours and a Horizon 30X60…..I know I’m nuts!

      You are my kind of people !! I don’t post in Facebook on the various smokers many people think it is silly. I think people should live their best life… and if collecting smokers makes you happy … then go for it. It is so rare to find another Texas Original Pit owner. They get no love :)
      You collection sounds awesome. You should do some videos. There is a channel called Boring Baby Boomer… he was the one I first saw that was not shy about showing his smoker collection. So you have some power hitters in builders. Which ones do you like the most - top three - and why ??? What a great post for others to read given your experience.

      @@myporchbbq Texas Original was my first and the price has doubled since I bought mine…quality is not the best but still cooks like a beast. I bought tuning plates and the temps are now even side to side. The plate they give you is basically useless…by far the Lonestargrillz is the tops in fit finish and quality…..even temps a breeze and cooking is a dream on a Lonestargrillz! The Gator pit is also amazing for cooking, you would love both of these companies!!!!! I’m not a fan of Paul Shirley for reasons I won’t bring up here but I’m ordering a smoker like yours anyway! Horizon I’m getting bc boring baby boomer has one and loves the way it cooks after getting a set of tuning plates for it! I’m addicted to this…..I need a bigger yard/or pole barn…lol!!! I also just got the lonestargrillz pellet grill…..the gallery backyard bbq came and shot a video using it look it up!!!! Let’s keep in touch!!!!! I’m in Pa where are you! Sir, do you think this would run on charcoal at 250-275? I like less smoke but need more capacity than drums provide.

    • @myporchbbq
      @myporchbbq  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you would burn up a lot of charcoal in this smoker. It has a lot of steel to heat up. It is much different than the drum smokers I have used. This smoker is more suited to smaller wood splits. You could start off with charcoal and then add wood. It is easy to dial in. I have a few smokers, all kinds including drum and Kamado. This smoker is on a much higher level.

    It’s a great video. Thank you. Is this an insulated firebox? 👍🏽

    • @myporchbbq
      @myporchbbq  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      James - it is not an insulated firebox. The firebox is pretty roomy for the amount of fire needed to heat the smoker. If you look at some of the other videos I posted you will see I have a small fire normally tucked into a corner of the firebox. Thanks for watching.

    Nice reverse flow. What type of Maple are you using? Red, Silver or Sugar?

  • @hulkhuggett
    @hulkhuggett 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just sold my Lang. I will never use another reverse flow. I hate the way they cook. They're great if you're trying to finish in a hurry, tho.

    • @myporchbbq
      @myporchbbq  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did notice when I cooked some ribs that the cook was much faster than my offset cookers. Has to be the radiant heat off the plate and the convection of the air moving over the protein. Thanks for watching and sharing your insights.

  • @leeavirett1287
    @leeavirett1287 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Excellent video and the cooler is superb. But why use any charcoal at all? That is almost a crime when you have a Shirley! Happy New Year anyway.

    • @leeavirett1287

      Cooker not cooler.

    • @myporchbbq
      @myporchbbq  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I try not too use charcoal … but the Shirley is very efficient so my splits are small. I burn the splits faster than I can replenish the coal bed.
      Full disclosure- I am still learning the cooker. It is by FAR the nicest smoker I have ever used. Thanks for watching and for your comment

    • @leeavirett1287
      @leeavirett1287 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@myporchbbq I too am still learning my Shirley after 50 cook's. Try larger splits, bigger than soda can diameter and use more dense wood varieties. Cut fire box damper to about one inch and stack wood closer together so less air circulates. Also cook chamber actually cools off while fire burns hotter if too much air is drafting. You can demo that quickly with a remote thermometer. Again, you did a top drawer video on the Shirley. Lee

    • @leeavirett1287

      @@myporchbbq Two more things: You will get more smoke flavor using the top rack since smoke/heat rise. Also, you will get more smoke flavor with both the stack and firebox dampers restricting the air flow. Flames destroy (consume) smoke. So less air, less flame, results in more smoke flavor. That is why pellet grill flavor is so very anemic! Once the pellet cup bursts into flames there is no more smoke. Not one drop! Webber kettles give a lot of smoke flavor because no flame will sustain itself, no matter how much the vents are open. Blow out a birthday candle and just get the match near the smoke trail and bam, it bursts back into flame when the smoke catches on fire. TMI I am sure, but don't you just love to talk grills and bbq.

    • @myporchbbq
      @myporchbbq  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It all comes down to reverse flow or traditional flow. Join the Shirley group on Facebook. Search Lone Star Grillz in the group search. People have sold their LSG to get their Shirley’s. Do the same on the LSG group. Search for Shirley’s. See if people have sold their Shirley to get a LSG. Both are great smokers. Good luck
