    This is one of my favourite pomades. I normally use strong hold product, and this is the only light/medium hold product that works. The downside is I have to use a lot to hold my style in place

    Totally agree matt! Got this like month ago was shocked that i would randomly get smells of the product hours after i used it. I didn't get to tangly cause i have staight hair but it almost had a sublte stickness that a gel might.

    Great vid! Aren't pomades usually supposed to be for shine and sleeckness? I'm def gonna try this. But curious... What's your favorite pomade for a slick back? For like a wedding or something dressy?

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Yeah most traditional pomades are for slick styles, although “clay pomades” are really popular now too. Hard for me to say what my favorite is for slick styles cause I don’t use them much, but the Stickmore pomade is a really great classic oil-based. For water-based I like Ice by TheSalonGuy.

    Hey Matt, what do you think about this product as a prestyler ?

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not real big on using clays as prestylers - I could see this one maybe working since it’s so light, but I prefer to use something meant to prep the hair for styling (i.e. smoothing serum, leave-in spray, etc).

  • @blueghost4121
    @blueghost4121 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    is there any small graininess to it? would you say it has a light hold? only asking since it does not have any beeswax or carnauba wax

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t find any graininess but I haven’t tried their new formula yet so I don’t know if it’s any different. Probably more of a medium hold if you layer it.

    How similar is it too hybrid by Blumaan? the ingredients look like theyre pretty similar and i know hybrid is a collaboration with arcadian just wondering if they’re the same product in different packaging or not?

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah, totally different products. They have a similar feel in the hands but Hybrid has less hold and also doesn’t give me that tangly feeling. Also the scent on Hybrid is much more subdued and less spiced.

    • @serenei007
      @serenei007 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found that MR (I think it is, by Jamie Stevens) was similar to Hybrid by Blumaan, or at least what I had hoped the hybrid product would be. It is kinda creamy, easy to scoop and apply etc. The scent is different and it is waaaay cheaper than the Blumaan product.

    Is it normal that when combing your hair 2-3 hairs are pulled out every time?
    I have the feeling that since i started to not washing my hair everyday (2 times per week) and started to use blumaan styling meraki as a prestyler, then blowdrying followed by dryshampoo, cavalier clay and hairspray in combination made my hair starting to fall out, doesnt feel good and its not that healthy looking as it was at the beginning. When i started to use all these products i was really happy with the texture and everything looked awesome but now i am disappointed. Maybe you know this issue and maybe have a hint for me?
    Greetings from germany :)

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is normal to lose around 100 hairs per day, so seeing a few on the comb is nothing to worry about. However I would not use dry shampoo every day, especially combined with all those other products. This can cause your scalp to get clogged up with product buildup, which can, over a period of time, hinder the growth of new hair a bit. I would try switching things up for a while and maybe try some other, more nourishing products, and less dry shampoo. I hope this helps! Cheers!

    • @amrap0309
      @amrap0309 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      TDM Style wow thanks for the fast answer :) i will definitely change things up. I think the issue is that my hair is not really straight anymore. I have the feeling that a lot of strands go into different directions and i even can see it in the finished result that some strands are directly over the straight ones and this is what is looking strange 😩 i hope you know what i mean maybe there is a special name for it

    Im A bit late on this one matt, but I gotta ask WTH! IS the ingredient that turns these clays and pomades dry, tangly, strawlike after set-in takes place? I cant stand it I literally look homeless when I try to restyle because of the pulling clumpy effect. So many matte products end up like this for me because of my thick hair

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know that feel big time, I have the same issue with several matte products as well. Some of the ingredients I've found that def cause the dry/tangly issue for me are diatomaceous earth, probably silica because it plumps the hair and makes it thicker, and I think sometimes clays that have a large amount of bentonite because it's quite dry. Could be kaolin too though, it's hard to tell because most clays contain both lol and some work great for me while others are wayyy too dry. So I think it's mostly about a ratio/amount thing.

  • @BeautyofScent
    @BeautyofScent 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    have they reformulated this? because on my hair and other people's reviews , It is VERY wet looking for like 30 min and it does look oily after that. hate this clay. it feels cheap and that microchrystalin wax in there makes it feel like a pomade in the hair which is not good for people who want a clay product by itself.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe they have reformulated then? Not sure, but it doesn’t have that effect on my hair at all.

    • @pedantic79
      @pedantic79 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but not as of your post or this video. They started preorders for the new formulation at the end of June. You can tell which one you have by looking at the first ingredient. The original formulation is water based, and the new formulation is aloe vera based. They've also changed the scent. It now is the same scent as their styling pomade. It's supposed to have better hold, and be more matte.

    • @chriskahle4205
      @chriskahle4205 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Antoshka hybrid is quite similar but the smell isn't so intense so I use it way more. Some say it has more hold too and I would probably agree although I haven't used Arcadian enough to say for sure because the smell is so intense (I'm not too fond of it). I could smell it going to bed and only used one scoop. Anti- gravity is pretty good (tried it 3 or 4 times). It's slightly more matte/drying than hybrid, even though hybrid is still def. a matte finish. All preference but I use hybrid the most along with nostalgic clay lately (which has a slight natural shine which increases a bit if you add more).

    • @kevszkar01
      @kevszkar01 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me i think antigravity is ok product not great but good , the main issue i have with anti gravity is how fast it dry when you rub in your palm . I have similliar hair like yours (straight fine/ thin ) and i think arcadian give me same look or performance compare to anti gravity but without dry feeling in your hair or little bit uncomfortable when applying on hair. I hope this help you to make choice whether you need to try anti gravity.

    The reason why its so creamy and smooth..because they use peg 40 ingredients for easy breakdown.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd estimate like 95% of homebrew hair products all contain PEG40 hydrogenated castor oil for emulsification/breakdown properties. However, depending on what else is in the formula and in what quantities, that doesn't guarantee something will be smooth/creamy. Plenty of stuff that contains PEG40 is still choppy/thick/dry/etc.
