The middle class intelligentsia is under a spell from which it is virtually impossible to bring them out. They have lost their sense of proportion, empathy towards fellow human beings, kindness of heart, everything. Quite an eye opener Sir! Hope the people come out of their stupor and make this a great Country once again. Thank you Sir!

The middle class had been so badly ignored by the previous govt. that India now pays the price for having a strongly supported (by the majority) govt. that is steam-rolling its undisclosed policies as much as it is incompetent in handling economics of the country let alone contain a pandemic which is the rarest of rare occurance. The middle class would support any govt. that is not Congress . If only Congress had executed its political plan in addressing the country's interests rather than make its members rich, the middle class would have supported Congress. Now they are with the unshakeable mind set of doing or tolerating anything other than support Congress.

@@drlgkrishnawho should take the decision to stop people flocking to Khumb mela during a deadly pandemic? Is it not the govt.? Who is to take the initiative to collectively decide not to have the elections now during the deadly pandemic? Is it not the govt.? I was fully in support of the Modi govt. for taking very bold decisions on various matters which the Congress clearly did not have the courage to do for more than 6 decades. Yes, some such decisions taken may not have resulted in acheiving the desired goals. Nevertheless, they were long overdue and necessary and I fully support the Modi govt there. But for a govt. that was so iron fisted on such matters, is it not common sense to prevent the spread of Covid and disallow Khumb Mela and elections? Where was their iron fist on the most important matter of saving lives? Even the farmers' strike he should have called in the army to get them to disperse and go home regardless of what the opposition might say. As much as I have been an admirer of Modiji, on these very serious Covid matters I find Modiji's govt has been negligent and guilty of being part of the cause for the spread of Covid. Yes, the people need to follow strict protocols to help minimise the spread. But in a 1.3 billion population, it is a difficult job to get the population to fully comply. But the govt. has no business to set examples of neglience.

A friend writes: The BJP supporter is living in denial. He knows his party has mismanaged the second wave. He knows people are dying because his party leaders were busy celebrating the demise of covid and claiming victory in advance. He knows they were fighting elections where millions of people were being assembled with flags and slogans. He knows that Kumbh Mela was an unnecessary exercise in religious oneupmanship. All this could have been avoided. He knows that the over confidence of Modi and Amit Shah (both fully vaccinated) has led to lacs of avoidable deaths.
He also knows that Narendra Modi speaks half truths and plain lies. He knows that the stories fed to him on Mann Ki Baat and WhatsApp are mostly fake. He knows that there are several non-BJP governments who are doing an excellent job in managing the pandemic. He knows his own party is hiding deaths in MP, UP and Gujarat. He feels ashamed by the unscientific statements made by BJP MPs and MLAs.
    Yet, he refuses to budge.
What he does instead is search for a silver line in this pandemic. He speaks about how per capita deaths and infections of India are still the lowest. He forgets that each death is that of a living being who has a family and loved ones. Death cannot be a comparative statistic, but a BJP supporter is beyond such grace. His commitment to protecting his political agenda is so intense that everything pales in comparison.
The reality is that his insecurity as a Hindu is so epic that he is willing to forego everything to protect his religious identity. He knows Modi is his last chance to build a resurgent Hindu nation. So everything, including deaths, is a small price to pay.
He believes that West Bengal has to be won. At any cost. It’s the largest communist bastion in the world. So COVID can wait. Infections and Deaths are okay. He knows that the decision to hold Kumbh Mela was inappropriate and wrong. So he shares fake videos of empty roads and river banks in Haridwar - despite knowing that global media is posting pictures of the thousands of people bathing in the Ganges. He knows they are true, but he wants to believe that it is a hoax.
The BJP supporter has become a laughing stock in this country. Many like him have shifted their loyalties, because their conscience cannot allow them to indulge in political oneupmanship over deaths of their own countrymen.
When asked why he still supports BJP, he says what choice do we have? The fact is our choices have to be based on values. You can’t forgo your values to justify a bad choice.
But all these arguments won’t work with a BJP supporter. It all boils down to wisdom. You can be educated and qualified, but since 2014 I have realised that the most educated and qualified in this country have emptied their brains when it comes to making political choices. They have lot of intelligent arguments to make, but the wisdom is somehow missing, just the indication of an insecure mind.
When India is on a ventilator, if politics and religion dictates where you stand, then the Delhi High Court was right in saying that God runs this country.

And donot think common people today donot have common sense to figure out if you give vaccine numbers from one day to another. There could be curfew, weather, shortage of staff and many other reasons for nos. to vary day to day. Hence stop being silly of giving some days count being few less or more.

So nice of you Parakala garu..
It is high time such voices as yours rose for the benefit of restoring the true democratic values in the country..
It's seldom that we hear any voice against anarchy without its being stamped political..
Where has gone the voice, the unique weapon that the humankind has been bestowed with for bringing out its agony in particular and its basic feelings in general..
Voice is the need of the hour.. just voice.. we don't need big leaders.. just a voice against brutality.. just a voice that may let us know about all that rubbish that's been getting accumulated in every nook and cranny of the country in the guise of religion...
It is true that leaders are not made.. just born.. we are concerned about only the latter ones.. You and just you .. the persons of your sort only are capable of dealing with the first lot..
The country had seen and won two fantastic battles viz., the freedim fight against the British, the external threat, and the unforgettable fight against the period of emergency during mid-seventies of yester century.., the internal threat,of course..
And, now, yet another such battle is impending .. a battle within ourselves..
We need someone to lead this battle.. that particular "someone" need not necessarily be a physical person.. just a strong voice suffices to lead us fight against this battle..
The current political scenario takes us to that of the "Animal Farm" of great George Orwell..
All the characters of that master piece prevail every nook and cranny of the country now .. to know about " Who is who " is left to anybody's imagination and wisdom..
And,finally, none in the country is against Modiji .. but only against his ism.. i.e., Modiism.. the innermost part of him..

Mr Parakala - I heard your video twice. Well presented and indeed thought provoking. But given the gravity and sudden-ness of this problem, no government can do more or solve this problem with a mantra. Pls give time. What was our reaction when about 4000 odd people were dieing in the super power nation like the US? We have a challenge and we shall overcome. We have a hard lesson learnt by not improving our healthcare system and we will do it right now. Afterall Modi has taken the reigns of what was left by the Congress party which helmed the nation for so many decades. Your anguish is well shared by me and will be appreciated by Mr Modi too.. He is not the runaway kind like the Congress party leaders, who after repeated assault by terrorists from PAK did nothing concrete to instill a fear in them! Trust the government after all millions of the population has believed in leader like Modi and not Rahul Gandhi kind..

Unfortunately the Modi dispensation has not displayed inclusivity politically at all thanks to its triumphalism. In this crisis too it has behaved blindly. All that u or i can do is to contribute money or time if we are not medicos or nurses. But we should do that voluntarily, out of true concern for our fellow men. It happened in Kerala, is happening again. Obviously there is a good connect between the govt and the people. But then we do not expect any empathy from Modi. He does not have it, period.

It is we, with our habits good or bad or unhealthy, who have elected this govt and have the right to question/give credit/ blame the same. Blaming the common man who is struggling for resources and losing his/her near and dear ones is the last thing to do.

Criticism is agreed. Talk is on emotional aspects of human tragedy. When he sits on the other side of the table, then his tone will be measured. Not withstanding lapses, today's tragic scenario in the Country (like any other Country in the world) is huge and we the people in general are waiting, crossing their fingers, for the calamity to end. It is out of incapacity but not denial. This intellectual is infering by drawing a thin 'denial' line and dividing people this side and the other side. Matter of fact the dividing line thick. The narrative on fear of losing free speech, by few, is just incapacity of these group of ppl. All type of criticisms are in open, making mockery of India & its people. Govt is trying to Control reports is on inhumane and insensitive reports, but not on polished taks. So let us be without fear on most guarded free-speech.
