I was first shown this by Nathan Buzza at Blackpool Magic Convention 2019 and the tech and method behind this is sick and unreal
He showed me the dice, sharpie pens and playing cards and poker chips all cut in half sp you could see the technology in each of these and it was ridiculous
It didn't surprise me that his stall was the most popular at the 2019 BMC
He have me a flash drive with the products and pdf built-in into it and I still have it to this day
Thank you David for taking the time to review Second Sight! Greatly appreciated.
@@brianmagicman3556 thanks Brian! Lots more exciting effects coming out soon!
Because of your review I got in touch with Illuminati-- amazing Customer Service-within 10 seconds I was texting back and forth with a rep. I ended up buying the Second Sight, Deck of playing cards, deck of ESP cards, and Tuck Case Notifier.-- Now I wait to receive. Cannot wait to start playing around with this. Thank you for your thorough reviews as always!!
Oh wow!
Thank you David! Everything was dispatched the same day :)
Update from my first post when this review came out-- I ordered the Unifi Second Sight, tuck case notifier, deck of 52 playing cards and 52 blank cards. What is great is the deck of 52 playing cards even comes with a double backer so i can do magic with it and then go into my mentalism routine with the same deck. The package arrived from Australia to me in Los Angeles in less than a week. I am not tech savvy at all but I had this all up and running within a couple of hours. My current routine is I bought a box of $5 playing cards on Amazon with celebrity pictures on them. -- and also bought a $5 deck on Amazon with various pictures of tourist spots in various countries around the world. I glued the celebrity pictures and destination pictures onto the blank Illuminati cards and it took me maybe 20 minutes to program them all into the Second Sight app on my phone. I am extremely happy with this product and so far it has worked flawlessly. I am just a hobbyist but gosh is this fun to perform to my family and friends-- they have zero clue that a piece of paper/card could ever have technology to give me the answers to their predictions. Amazing product. Loving it.
AWESOME DAVID !!!!
Fantastic review, Dave. Very thorough! I am going to look into this. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks, you too!
Wow this is the future and it's happening now 😱
Happy hump day David!! Thank you for the amazing review as always! 🔥
My pleasure!!
Wow that sounds so awesome , a big out of my league though I'm still doing rubber band magic
me 2
Thanks David! Your reviews are the best!
Thanks Jason
Very good product, though I do concern about the distance of the reader has to be to be able to read it
are you planning on being in another room?
Dang, Magic used to not have any electronics and now almost everything does. This is definitely cool and definitely extremely expensive. Thanks for the review David.
everything is apps now days
Unfortunately
We have also released a FREE NFC reader for the iPhone.
This enables you to perform the majority of the features of Second Sight using the in built NFC reader on your iPhone.
For professional performers, we would recommend the external Second Sight reader as it allows the scan to occur away from your phone, doesn’t require your phone to be operational and had a longer read range.
The onboard NFC reader enables you to read NFC playing card and objects directly.
@@illuminatimagic will it be available on android?
Hi@@alsonkwek7852, Second Sight is a standalone unit. The messages are sent direct from Second Sight to the Notifier (visual display) and it also has an onboard vibrator motor, so a Smartphone is not required to use the system.
There is also an iOS App that runs on iPhone, iPad and the iPod Touch. We are looking at an Android version, based upon user demand and have set up a poll in our Facebook Group. if we receive enough people interested, then we can develop an Android version.
Omg. I have been working with microprocessor for years. If this works, game changer.
Amazing tech. Goal-get to level that justifies this! Thanks again dave
:D
Normal cards wear down, I wonder how well these cards can hold up to wear and tear
Very well. We manufacture the cards from PVC and embed the antenna into the card PVC, so they are virtually indestructable. I has a spectator drop a whole glass of white wine over the deck and I just washed them under water and kept on going :)
I literally thought of this idea yesterday to make!!!!!! Ahhhh lol. I was thinking of the chip card randomly from the "now you see movie 2" and literally thought, hmm could I make this in every card, rfid. Man! Do I want, this now!
You can try this right now for free. Just download the App and grab some NDEF formatted NFC tags and you are in business!!
I've been thinking about making and releasing something very like this for years, Oh well, you snooze you lose I supose.
Wow, technological Mentalism; I'm definitely on board for the next-gen tricks!
I'm wondering about whether it would work with my phone and watch that are already paired to each other so I'd probably want the Tuck Case. Also I'm curious if I could split some regular cards and add the RFID stuff in there - to avoid the plastic cards.
I just made some big investments in making my own Gaffs so this one would *at least* have to wait for next year... or until I'm skilled enough to want to legitimately explode peoples minds. All of these utilities you're talking about combined would run at least 5k AUD 😲
yup
You can certainly split cards and insert the RFID tags inside.
We have some custom RFID tags that are card sized for this purpose and are around 0.10 thick.
We normally follow this process, split the cards, sand down the internal cardboard by 0.10mm and then glue the cards back together.
The cards tend to loose their “snap” though, but a good way if you really want bike branded cards.
@@illuminatimagic Woah, if these were in Bicycle i am sold. Do you offer the Bicycle version or can direct me to someone who can make them?
Btw, any plans to do more card game reviews? Not sure how they performed for you, but they were great and very helpful for me. Thanks!
Goes on my list for Santa next year! Thanks!
If I start saving now , I will be able to purchase one by NEXT Xmas!
So basically these look like a beefed-up version of Hugo Shelley's Insight. Does he get credited for that?
Hi Sebastian, Yes we certainly credited Hugo Shelley's Insight (et al) as there have been multiple contributors towards RFID in magic over the past two decades. Hugo also recently gave us permission to integrate Insight into Unifi, so now many of the same advanced features are available to the existing Insight users at no extra cost :)
We previously provided a list of new features available in Second Sight.
"Can be handled like ordinary cards"
Heck if I'm letting some rando shuffle my $100 deck!
The PVC cards are waterproof and virtually indestructible (except perhaps from fire!).
I had someone spill an entire glass of white wine on my deck and just washed them under water and as good as new!
I personally hate plastic cards, they are horrible to handle
How many cards will detect at the same time
Have you seen or heard of Rostami's online training courses for Inject and Realist? Just curious. Lots of good reviews but at $80 an hour 😲... I thought I'd ask you. Thanks!
Second Sight integrates with Inject, you can scan a RFID Card and then use inject for the TH-cam video reveal. We have had many clients who have recorded 52 video performances and push this video to a spectator phone. Unifi can also receive messages from Inject as well.
looks like i have to start saving money!
:D
I didn't pay that much for my car! 😂😂😂 but I'd absolutely LOVE to have that!
LOL
I would think the illuminati would grammar check their cut and paste spiel before having their bots post post them in everyone's replies. totally not a scam, bro. 😂😂😂😂
This is so dope and also expensive 🔥🔥
yes and yes
Holy smokes, this is insane. I didnt know we were at that level
pretty soon solar powered hover crafts
Sounds like pro mystic type stuff. Very cool
!!!!
The 1st thing i can imagine happening, is that, especially with people who know me, would assume I'm using marked or reader decks. So i would be interested in ESP if only they had blank backs. The only other thought I would have is if I wore a blindfold as well perhaps. But again, being a blindfolded and being unable to see are two different things. So i'm kinda stuck here. Even then people would assume if it was on stage there is either a stooge or a mirror. I am struggling to figure out how I can use this to really fool people, as there are other ways of doing this.
great perspective
Apple only?
Second Sight and Notifier are both stand alone products and do not require a Smartphone to function. There is also an iOS App if you would like some of the more advanced features, but no smartphone is required for this product to operate.
Wow. We're there i guess.
we are
This is amazing. Wow..
!!!!
I feel like this should not be a thing not because I think it is bad because I think the trick is great but I just feel like if this gets into the card world ever one will think a card trick is easy and done with a phone but then again that is just my opinion
wise words
Depending on how it’s performed there’s also the risk of the audience thinking you’re using marked cards. Of course the audience might think that with any trick lol
Own this.... It's brilliant
What is the difference between this and Insight Pro by Hugo Shelley that has been around for years?
THANKS FOR ASKING - there is a long in depth answer to this question on 2000WTube question below.
Insight Pro is an excellent product and Hugo Shelley really led the industry in RFID when it was released.
Second Sight provides as assortment of advanced features not available in the Insight Pro, including:
1. Support for additional RFID protocols, including ISO14443A and ISO15693.
2. ISO15693 provides additional RFID read range, allowing tags to be read from a greater distance than Insight.
3. Second Sight includes an integrated transmitter that allows messages to be sent to a miniature Retina display.
4. Second Sight includes support for a remote thumper, so the vibrate signals may be received by an external thumper (vs just the on board thumper).
5. Second Sight allows users to create custom text, custom graphics and custom text to speech message, whereas Insight supports playing cards only.
6. Second Sight integrated into thermal printers, so the scanning of RFID tags can automatically act as the input system for a thermal printer.
7. Second Sight integrated with Prevision, allowing real time video rendering of text and graphics into a video stream (CGI effects).
8. Second Sight integrated with Inject, so revelations may be made on a spectators phone (and play pre-recorded videos or display multiple outs on the spectators phone).
9. Second Sight can set the time on time prediction devices, so the RFID scan can set the time.
10. Second Sight had user programmable vibrate sequences, so you can assign custom vibrate patterns to RFID scans and also control repeat vibrations at specified time intervals.
11. Second Sight provides a free NFC interface that enables NFC tags to be read vis the NFC reader on the iPhone.
12. Hugo Shelley gave us permission to integrate Insight into the Unifi platform.
The above is a small selection of advanced features that are unique to the magic market and I hope puts your concerns at rest.
Please feel free to reach out to me on Messenger phone if I may assist in any way.
I have the upmost respect for Hugo Shelley and the many contributors to RFID prior.
My medical technology companies used RFID extensively in the 1990s and its great to see this advanced technology make its way to the magic community!
Great review.
Glad you enjoyed it
hey david you know any good magic downloads using mem deck , i dont live in america so i cant afford books or dvds.
WOW!!!!!!
I know, right?
Very impressive. I understand the reticence of some, but I don't think it will lessen the wonder of card sleights; some still lament the popularity of magic tutorials on TH-cam and see that as the demise of the craft. I disagree. I can only look forward to the amazing effects/routines sleight of hand experts will create in conjunction with this kind of tech.
the future !!!!
Day 58 of saying hi today my grandpa died from Covid and my cousins grandpa died from a brain tumor today too
it’s been a crazy day it’s good to watch These videos because it keeps my mind off of it
So sorry for your losses Matty Boi. Take care of yourself.
is the app android compatible
Inject in a whole new level
Yes, So this means that a spectator can (for example) take a playing card, place it into a wooden box and then another spectators phone does the Inject Video Reveal. If you want to, you could also record 52 x different outs and "push" the youtube video to the spectators phone, so its you doing the reveal :) To add another layer to this, you could ask a spectator to choose ANY dice, playing card, domino, poker chips etc and don't tell anyone which device was selected and then cover the selected object and then do a video reveal of you choosing the same object with the same result...
@@illuminatimagic How do you push the youtube video to the spec phone? Is this covered in your product? Love the idea of having another spectator go to youtube before the deck is even taken out, click on your 'prediction video' and then having them play it after the card is selected.
Hi AB,
Here is the link to the trading video to push a URL to a spectators phone.
th-cam.com/video/2vUta3DGs8c/w-d-xo.html
This enabled you to use either Second Sight or Inbuilt NFC reader on your iPhone to scan a RFID tag and push any URL to the spectator phones.
So for example, you could pre record all the “outs” for an effect and then borrow a spectators phone.
When the first spectator selects a tag the second spectator automatically forwards to the URL defined on spectators 1 rfid tag...
@@illuminatimagic Wonderful thank you. This is fantastic stuff. So all of these tutorial videos come with the purchase? Are there many more? And do you know a craftsman who can produce this deck in bicycle using your tech? I read that the inside of the cards can be shaved down then reglued with the chip inside. If i can get these in bicycle i will order right now.
@@a.b.4052 Yes, there is about 1:20 of video tutorials that come with the product (if you join the Illuminati Magic Facebook group you can view them there as well).
Hondo Chen is an expert at splitting cards and would do the best job, but there are many craftsman who can split cards or you can do yourself. A deck takes around two hours to split, sand and insert the RFID tag.
When we split the cards, they tended to loose their “snap”.
As USPCC own the copyright to the Bicycle brand, we cannot print bicycle branded cards, so the only option is to split the Bikes.
I may have a deck that we have already split and placed the RFID tag into. If I have these, your welcome to have this deck with my compliments (the finish didn’t meet our quality standard, so we didn’t end up promoting this option).
Nici content nober ok ❤❤❤

Wowza.....hello big spender
Good lookin' so refined
Dope!
Hi david, im a big fan. It was Bill Davis who i think introduced me to your chanell. I was wondering if I could possibly get a shoutout in one of you videos? If not its ok. I know you probablly have a busy scheduale
thanks -Cole
I'll wait to pop until it can do "The Berglas Effect." I'll explain why. The first thing that went through my mind was how much would it cost to build one based on consumer based RFID readers, programmers and output. Me being me I would not be myself if I did not do the research first. There is probably not much of a price break, and by paying a few hundred dollars more you get the research and development that went into to the output devices..?
From what I gather this is all about an/or impossible prediction(s) from an/or impossible location(s). I have to agree leaving a magic show where one of these devices has been used has always left me leaving thinking to myself one of these devices is being used, but if not how was it done. All the thinking of how it was done without it being one of these devices certainly got the juices flowing, but in the end... really???
So that leaves me with the conventional means I have of performing impossible predictions from impossible locations and how many of these do I do per act. One. So I am not repeating or masking pick a card any card by dressing it up to look like something else. So that means this really has to hit pay dirt for my level of performance. Will I ever perform at a level where I need something like this to truly enhance my act. I wish I could be, but I just don't see myself there, but if I were to find myself confronted with an opportunity where this would bring home the bacon over the standard offering. You betcha, I'd pop!
I think waiting until I have an electronic device that can perform the Berglas Effect is a big ask, but I'd need to get something close to that level of impossible for my level of performance at least for the opportunities I foresee myself engaged in at this stage in my magic career.
Last night I spent a good hour looking into Tommy Wonder's Nest of Boxes. $30,000.00 at Hocus-Pocus.com I am not going to be adding that one to my collection either. I love it. man is that effect smooth, but how can I justify getting it, I think just wanting it comes with a want tax I need to pay. Really the cost is not that bad for Second Sight, only that the irony is the trick is being done exactly as your mind says it's done, if it's being done with technology.
Well worded post. I am a huge fan of David Beglas ACAAN effect and have been working on a solution for this, with an extra criteria:
The additional criteria is that the spectator can freely shuffle the deck.
So, this means ACAAN, with a spectator shuffled deck...
Second Sight however is a different effect, equally as amazing! Here are a few examples of effects:
1. Spectators select 6 x Ping Pong Balls with numbers on the Balls and a Lotto Ticket automatically prints in your pocket..
2. Spectator 1 selects a boarding pass, spectator 2 rolls dice, spectator 3 searches for a holiday destination. The boarding pass is scanned (with Second Sight) for the airline, the dice specifies the departure time and the google search represents the destination. A video can be rendered on your holding a boarding pass with all this information..
3. A card reveal, with spectators selecting a card and then the card reveal using either an index, invisible deck, out of sight deck etc or just a verbal reveal or a swami gimmick..
4. A personally like moving away from traditional playing cards and use themed cards (eg celebrities), it suits my style a little more and provides the opportunity for more banter in the reveal.
Just a few ideas, but Second Sight really is a utility devices that enables performers to develop their own mind blowing effects. I have seen many performers creating some really unique presentations for this effect.
@@illuminatimagic I must admit. I am intrigued by the Phoenix Tuck and Deck the most. First impulse is must have! I am also leaning toward the idea of splitting a deck of red rider backs and gimmicking them myself.
This is best for mentalist but.... I thought is will be a 200$ so i can't buy ot but i can see a very good video of magic orthodoxy ♤♡◇♧
:(
Why are you sad no problem
There is also the free version, that uses the NFC Reader on your iPhone as well :)
great review david! pricey f0r sure but in my experience, better t0 save and buy s0me quaIity items that kiII, we spend s much in " 40 $ tricks" that end up in the drawer!
I can honestly say that this is my opener for close up and I use it almost every day (that and dice).
Normally I open with providing a magician’s choice of the RFID deck or an Invisible Deck (or Joshua Jays “Out of Sight” deck).
I then have the spectator select a card and place it between their hands.
The invisible deck (or out of sight) remains in view (or given to another spectator).
Then once I obtain a scan, then the reveal the selected card.
This then leads into a series of more classic card work. I have a balance of around 25% tech effects / 75% non tech for gigs.
Also please note there is a FREE version of the NFC reader as well 😀
Awesome video review and that is an awesome tool/s, but way out of my league.
You can try the free NFC Reader version on the iPhone :)
This is clever but 2 things: 1st - it’s completely too expensive. It may seem like these devices are very intricate but all of this technology is readily available, all they did was adapt it to playing cards. They’re cheap to make. 2nd - this is taking away the real magic and skill of magic and illusionism. Yes, I would have a blast with this but I’d rather do it all old fashioned. There are too many parts that could easily be grabbed by the spectator and examined. Just my thoughts
Hi Nathaniel, we realise the pricing point is out of reach of many casual performers, and we also provide a FREE version, that utilises the NFC Reader on the iPhone.
The Second Sight is a custom design, specific for the mentalism market and has been designed to work in tandem with all of our product lines. So for example, we really wanted to optimize the RFID read range as much as possible, beyond the normal distance of what you see in "tap to pay" and we get up to 130mm when using the ISO15693 technology. We also incorporated a radio transmitter, so we send messages directly to the Notifier plus a mammoth effort with the Unifi App itself, that integrates a volume of magic integrations into a single platform.
For me personally, I have a split of around 70% classic methods and 30% tech methods in live performances. I think a combination of methods makes reverse engineering the performance even more insane for the spectators.
@@illuminatimagic I really appreciate that you took the time to respond to my critique. It says a lot about your company. I also appreciate your more thorough explanation of the actual technology. I definitely appreciate the devices more now that I understand them more. I think for me it’ll take getting the entire system in my hands to be able to give it a better chance.
I know why these are only on Phoenix decks, but, I can’t ever shake my fear of using this brand-I even bought Polish Poker a SECOND time, just because they finally used Bicycle Riders. At THESE prices, it’s a cryin shame Bicycle Riders can’t be used. A shame because you wanna have
👌
Hi AJ, USPCC own the copyright for the Bicycle brand, so we are unable to print the RFID Cards on Bicycle Cards (although some performers have elected to split some Bikes and insert their own RFID Tags). In saying that, Phoenix is an excellent brand and also printed by USPCC. As magicians, we are sensitive to the brand and recognise Phoenix as "magicians" cards, however in several thousand performances, I have not had a lay person identify with the brand. Although magicians tends to go direct to Marked Cards (which I love, as I then perform a routine without any possibility of peeking the marked card.
@@illuminatimagic I did put a caveat in my comment (saying I know why Bikes can’t be used), but I’m friends w a guy who performs w the original version at a very famous place every night he’s there (I think you know him, too). Big Boy goes over a STORM w these, even w Phoenix backs, so do know it’s the old magician’s hex of running when y’ain’t bein chased. I still suffer. 😄
Greatest tech in card magic, either way! 👍👍
@@Mo_Ketchups That you did! I wish I could convince USPCC to allow us to print with their brand, but the response was that they want to maintain the integrity of the brand and magic effects detract from their brand image (their words, not mine). The only option is splitting cards, but they loose their "snap" after splitting and gluing back together.. We can print on a "generic" brand, with no noticiable brand on the card..
Great review but I really don't I care for this kind of magic.
Is it because I'm an old fogey and maybe a bit of a purist (whatever that is) or is that I think it's too much of a cheat?
Maybe It's the equivalent of a satnav for a taxi driver? Or maybe like going to see a live band and get something prerecorded.
Or is it that I'm jealous I can't justify spending that kind of dollar ?
Wow nice unit, but way to much for my budget.👍👍😊😊
Agreed!

What about Net-burn? Google-burn?
What are those?

@@tommarquette9706 The training videos are available on our Facebook Page, but we individually approve every member request (we get around 20 requests per day and approve around 10 per day). We have a FREE version as well, that uses the inbuilt NFC reader on the iPhone.
You need to get your phone close to the NFC tag, but it’s a great solution for customers who can’t afford the dedicated electronics.
Technology like this is ruining magic.
that's always the negative side of any new technology. Look at cell phones - they are ruining the art of conversation. Or the internet has ruined real journalism.... every time you gain something new - you at the same time are forced to lose something
@@magicorthodoxy Meh... you can still talk on your phone... you can still read creditable online journalists. I believe this technology is just blurring the line in skill and the artform of magic. I see the point you are trying to make.. but I absolutely do not agree with the way technologies like this is taking "magic".

No sure the name illuminati is the best choice 😒

It is appropriate
The genesis of the brand name is from lumen (Latin for light) as some of our effects use infrared light (not Second Sight). Also a play on the latin for enlightened.
