    The one in the Jag is a 350 cu in (5.7L), the Chevelle and 23 T both have 454 cu in (7.4L). All Chevy V8's.

    The motor is on my homemade dyno right now with the twin turbo setup from my '67 Chevelle. I'm working some bugs out of the dyno and just today started making some low load pulls.

    So awesome that you build all your own stuff. I am the same way man. I work on all of my own stuff. cars, house, motorcycles if it breaks or needs to be built I take out my tools and get at it. I bought my first metal lathe last year because I didn't want to pay the high price for a custom part on one of my motorcycles. So for about the price of the part I bought a lathe learned how to use it and made my own parts. Cheers man just subbed your channel.

    Nice projects Kevin..My toy was a French made 1988 GTA Renault Alpine running a rear engine alloy OHC 2.8 V6 designed by Maserati..Doesn't sound much until you realize it's a high tech composite chassis and body weighing less than 1100 kg.. I had a screw compressor lying around so I rebuilt the engine with J.E pistons, 'O' ringed the heads, reground the cams, larger valves, Porsche injectors and air to water inter-cooler running 15psi.Net result was 347rwhp. Power to weight ratio was frightening

  • @KevinACarter
    @KevinACarter  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the input. The cam is a Comp cams Xtreme Turbo XT262H. I have degreed and rechecked it. The injector duty cycle is going to 100% and the wideband is showing it going lean. Before I started testing this I was told by an experienced EFI guy that fuel distribution issues make it difficult to make more than 500hp with a TBI. I'm going to compare TPI, MPI and TBI on the big block. I may also not be getting enough water into my water brake.
    Kevin

  • @KevinACarter
    @KevinACarter  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Jag has a pair of Walbro 255's and eight 42 lb injectors that don't seem to be enough. The T has four Bosch pumps (two per tank) and eight 160lb injectors.

    That T-Bucket, I would have to drive it to town and do a HUGE Burnout in front of the Court House !!!!! I would get SOOOO arrested........LOL But what the hell, I'm a Senior Citizen now, gotta do something to know your alive !!!

  • @KevinACarter
    @KevinACarter  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    They are all junkyard turbos, for now. I'm cheap, so I do everything myself. If a vehicle, the house, HVAC, plumbing, or whatever needs repair, I learn how to do it myself. One repair can often offset the price of the tools. I have $2500 in the turbo 302 Ranger and $3100 in the Turbo SBC Jag. The paint on the Jag took 70 hours but only cost $75 in materials. The TT454 Chevelle and Quad Turbo T are currently around $5k each. Half of that is in the motors. Lastly, I don't finance anything.

  • @KevinACarter
    @KevinACarter  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The dyno wasn't getting enough water. Typically they require 10 gpm per 100 hp. Now I have a 200 gpm pump pumping through eight 1/2" ID inlets. The Jag motor was also running out of injector. I haven't taken the time to put the Jag motor back on the dyno. The 454 from the T is being used as a mule on the dyno testing parts for now.

    The lift is great for saving space. I bought it when I got my machining center. (10,000 lbs) Local rigging companies wanted $1500 and up to just unload it. I bought the lift for $2000 and used it instead. If your wanting one for working on vehicles more than storage, get a two post.

  • @KevinACarter
    @KevinACarter  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I made the top. Google "Carson top". Normally they lift off but I made mine flip up so I can get in and out. It's a light weight frame with fleece stretched over it and reinforced underneath with fiberglass. The way I have it wrapping around the back makes hinging a bit of a challenge. My windshield is only about 4" tall and I'm really balled up inside the car. You might want one that's a little taller.

    I know the guy who owns the local European car shop. He has several Renaults laying around. One is a spec racer that he autocrosses. He also has a couple Maserati bi-turbos, but no Alpines. They are interesting cars.

    I have a water brake engine dyno I built from scratch. A typical water brake requires something like 5 gallons per minute per 100hp. I was running mine off two water hoses which are putting out significantly less. I've put the big block on it but haven't started testing. I'm assuming I need to come up with a way to get more water through the dyno and the big block is going to peak around 500lb-ft until I fix the issue.

      DeltaRacing surprisingly well. It has 315 drag radials on the back and some sticky 215's up front. I've also switched to tubular shocks.

  • @phoenix11994466
    @phoenix11994466 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your problem with excess fuel consumption is more than likely to to do with valve timing. Turbos require a very different cam profile than both a naturally aspirated and belt driven blowers. Unburned gas is obviously pouring out of your exhaust. Turbo cam profiling is a lot of trial and error, best to find an off the shelf solution from a credible after market company who has already done the R & D.

  • @phoenix11994466
    @phoenix11994466 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes interesting, but over priced at $90k & never really accepted by the general public. I got mine at auction for $15k in 1995..More interesting though was the screw compressor my brother dropped off one day. Every since my first car Ive been fiddling with roots type, centrifugals and turbos. But the screw compressor, wow! ...is the best of all worlds with a ruler flat pressure response from idle to max rpm. Just what Dr. Speed ordered. The experience was like giving a new drug to a speed junkie

    why would you want to run 4 turbos on a V8? Are the turbos you are using small? A single 80mm turbo set up correctly on a 454 or 496 should make at least 1100hp-1400hp at the motor.
    You are very creative. But some of the welds look a bit rough. It looks like you have way too many projects going at the same time.

    • @KevinACarter
      @KevinACarter  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Steve Solo This was my first big project. It has my first, worst and some of my best. I've just started driving it. They are four T-3's. I was broke and ebay turbos didn't exist. It makes 550hp on the motor alone. I expect them to get me to 1200. If they aren't enough I'll upgrade/make my own. I still have a lot of stuff going on.

    • @KevinACarter
      @KevinACarter  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The car has racked up enough miles to be disassembled and is being prepped for paint. Fenders are not required and the turbos are all the silencers it's getting.

    • @Draxindustries1
      @Draxindustries1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply. Can you run no fenders in all the states or does this reg just apply to some states or type and age of vehicle?

    • @KevinACarter
      @KevinACarter  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Draxindustries1 I think some of the north eastern states used to require fenders. I'm in Tn and have been told by an officer checking it out at a show that all that's required here are lights, mirrors, and to not be damaging the pavement. There's no windshield height requirement but I do need to be able to see out of it. Currently I have no rear window just a backup cam with the screen on all the time.
