I did the same with NAD C399 and the bass is now very tight and precise, mids are doing deeper soundstage and high's are more stable....low volume listening became more fun....sad that company's are using this cheap type of connection😢
I doubt this mod. Solder is one of the worst conductors so you may actually reduce the conductivity by soldering the wires. Often a crimp connector is a better way to achieve a good connection, or the combination of crimping and soldering.
Hello! I am late, but I just found this video, which has encouraged me to subscribe. You are definitely on the right track here. However, I'm not entirely convinced that soldering is absolutely necessary for 'all' those connections. Perhaps, yes, but I would need to have a closer look for myself. What is important is to eliminate the plastic connection boxes, which are introducing bad dielectric points throughout the wiring. Also, it is good that you prioritize the power supply and outputs, which makes the most difference in performance. You are also correct to use copper connections, and single strand wire with silver solder. However, I believe you may get further improvement by using a smaller gauge of wire. Something around 18AWG, perhaps. Not smaller than that, though. There are still more things you can do with this that will bring the sound to another level. I am considering one of these amps for my system, and would make radical modifications to it. Where you have ended would be just the beginning for me. It is very good to find someone else who knows some of these "secrets" to achieving the full performance potential of these products, which are capable of going far beyond the sound quality of the stock product if one knows how to bring it out of them. Please keep up these kind of informative videos, as more people need to be aware of the possibility of greater performance without having to constantly buy new gear, and the sense of accomplishment that DIY can bring. Bravo!
Hi, thank you. Unfortunately, the mechanical solution with different circuit boards per channel is poorly solved here. I only use solid core OFC wires. I'm talking about resonances/resonance chains. Unfortunately, most manufacturers don't understand this, or just want to woo customers with better and better measured values. One of the few exceptions is Soulnote. Best regards, Mike
@@headquarteraudio5388 Tag, Mike. Thank you for the kind reply. Yes, I am familiar with resonances and vibration control. I believe it could be reduced in this case by removing the boards from the unit, then using brass stand-offs with M3 size brass acorn nuts as feet, mounted to a thick softwood board and carefully weighted. This creates an effect where vibration is drained into the wood base and dissipated or absorbed there. It also eliminates the box, which is one of the greatest sources of resonance. I would be interested to know what you think of this method, and if you can provide more information about what you know of resonance chains. I am always looking for more reliable information on these subjects. Cheers, HdL
Appreciate the tips - excited to implement on mine. Beautiful listening setup. Probably a silly question but I have to ask; is that cymbal placed there with intent or just a storage location?

cause its cheaper and if you run a production factory and workers there need to solder things then by the law you need to have a special ventilation system and thats very expensive and its also checked by health inspection every few months...so thats why they just using this cheap shit....and thats also in some high end brands
Same solution for A400s? Looking forward to get an XTZ because of the size and convenience, my only fear is hiss at low volumes?, did you experienced that? Almost 10 years I don't hear a class D amp

Hi, I don't know in which damp basement you're listening with your measuring devices, but up here with a real system or with headphones without stuffy ears, the difference is huge. By the way, the loudspeakers were developed by me without measuring devices... (only checked at the end) Cheers Mike
@@headquarteraudio5388 My ears measurement tell me, the voice is now melting better with the low-end, but still a bit sterile in the top-end which is probably the limited resolution of class D?

Lots of snakeoil here. Soldering (btw, your soldering skills is rubbish). If you going to solder remove the contact completely and solder the cables directly on the board You dont have basic electrical knowledge. Solderings is by far worse to get electrical contact then using crimps or screw connections.........
