Now a days, traditional style of Kirtan has been changed. Now only Kehrwa and Dadraa taals are being played along with Bhairvi. Once a time, veteran singers like Barkat Ali, Ashiq Ali used to come at Darbar Sahib to note the complex notations of Kirtaniyas. But now, Raagis follow Sardool Sikander and other Singers. I am surprised that various Raagis have changed traditional Style of singing Chhants of Asa Ki Vaar.

Beautifully sang by Bhai Balbir singh Ji. But what tradition ? You want raagis to say "piyare" everywhere where even if it is not written in "Asa Di Vaar" now ?? You should be thankful that now the shuddhta of gurbani is increased from the way today Raagi Singh sings. Other thing is learn raag yourself & create complex notations as you like.

I confirmed from Bhai Sarabjit Singh it’s from 1998 and Ragi ji Singing Basant Raag so Basant Raag begins at Lohri and ended on Hola Mahala, so this video been recorded between Jan 13 - Mid March 1998

Where is this ruhani kirtan gone now a days? Why is it being slowly replaced by the likes of Rangeela and others ? Performing Kirtan is a Sadhna, years and years of training is required. ਮੱਖੀ ਚੰਦਨ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ਬੂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਉਪਰ ਬੈਠਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਬੰਦੇ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਨ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਸਨ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਬਲਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਸੋ ਜਾਂ ਕੀਰਤਨ, ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਦੇ ਆਸ਼ਿਕ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਲ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੌਰੇ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਚੁਭੀਆਂ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਪਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਤੁਸੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਵਾਲੀ *ਮੱਖੀ* ਹੋ।
