Voltes V is basically a spiritual remake of Combattler, specifically the first half. But with the designs and names tweaked and a subplot about a missing dad slotted in. @VitedaPeterPan That's essentially what I said... And it's blatently obvious Voltes lifts a lot from Combattler.
I really hope that toei animation will make a real remake of this series! Because it will really become a big hit! Especially for the fans of these series. 😤
If they were going to remake it, it would probably only gain popularity in Japan. If it got a Netflix Original treatment, it might gain better popularity outside of Japan.

I just watched the ending for Combattler V, and I am at a loss for words...it seems like the show didn’t want to go anywhere in terms of plot but was forced to. I mean I loved the characters, like REALLY loved the characters, but you need a good story to go with it and I’m sorry, Combattler V doesn’t have a good story, just good characters.
The Geeky Preacher......yah....it's just too bad that the ending wasn't a good one.........although i just read from the Wikipedia about it's real story ending.......that wasn't even aired or showed as of yet.....and it's theory in its final episode was this: "while Combattler V's Nambara connection was destroyed, Empress Janera was still shocked when she learned that the Team was aware of the bomb she planted at Combattler's left foot that have blown their base.....but the battle continued on, right until Janera was defeated.......but many were unaware that Empress Janera planted an explosive at the Earth's core. Just in time when Earth was about to be destroyed, DEUS, the true leader of the Campbellian empire, called on to his people to revolt against Janera's evil forces on Earth...... .......and soon after, DEUS came to Earth, along with the Combattler Team, to help rebuild everything on Earth that was massively destroyed both by the forces of Prince Garuda and Empress Janera
