Moira's interactions are great and full of salt, but I'm particularly more interested in Sigma's, he sounds like he would be really nice to talk to about the most menial things.
Moira truly has the best dialogue. Her VA really nailed her. Even as they occasionally added more dialogue/interactions into the game in OW1, hers just got better and better. I mean, most of the heroes received new dialogues in game periodically and they were all good; they were entertaining and funny... But Moira's were next level. They were authentic and true to her personality and while being entertaining, they really helped you understand her character and personality. Moira's not a disloyal character despite having left Overwatch to join Talon. She was never loyal to Overwatch, nor is she to Talon and she doesn't try to hide that. Overwatch and its senior members like Mercy criticized, hindered, and sometimes outright interfered with her experiments and methods. Moira is a firm believer that the ends justify the means and that sacrifices are sometimes necessary to gain knowledge, improve medicine and humanity, and achieve greatness. She didn't care whom she was working for or what their motives were, she simply wanted them to enable her research. Overwatch morally objected to her frequently whereas Talon gave her free reign entirely. She's not disloyal, but her only true loyalty is to science. She's also not evil, despite being a "villain." She isn't sadistic; she doesn't like inflicting pain. She only does it when she believes it's necessary for her research but she won't shy away from it. She lacks empathy and she can be quite callous in her experiments, but she is doing it with a greater purpose in mind and to be fair... she is successful in her field and there's not much wasted effort on her part as she does get the results she's after. She's never mean, and doesn't really ever aggressively antagonize anyone. Even things she says like to Widow/Reaper that seem insensitive, she just lacks the empathy to be self-aware of her statements and questions. She's often passive aggressive and feeds us those snarky clapbacks. And although she affirms that her desired place is in a research lab and not in the frontlines engaging in combat, she's no craven. She put Reinhardt in his place in game. Even when she says something mildly sinister, threatening, or dark, she still conveys her passion and fascination with science. Even her rhetoric is above and beyond for a fps character that has no story mode (yet). She speaks like a Disney villain. It's poetically dark and romantic in word choice. Her tone is usually very sultry yet still very breathy and light, lower in volume and without much force, instead putting the effort and power into her pronunciation and melodic way of speaking. You can tell when she's annoyed when she flips into the more brash tone like "I'm working/Brilliant," with a light vocal fry. It completely encapsulates her energy. That she doesn't need to be assertive, aggressive, or overly expressive like most heroes to convey her intentions. Ex. Moira vs Reinhardt dialogue: Reinhardt conveys his feelings and resentment. His energy and volume increase and is very direct in his message and issues a direct threat. You can hear his feelings, they are made obvious regardless of his dialogue. Moira though, her tone would suggest a pleasant or lighthearted conversation yet she still commands the respect here and comes out the victor. The power of her unconcerned tone, and the eloquent word choice she uses to issue an even more terrifying threat indirectly through cryptic hypotheticals.
How about a "What If..." skin set? Like what if Moira rebuilt Genji instead of Mercy? Or what if Reyes went vigilante pursuing justice while Jack joined Talon and became a terrorist? Or what if Zenyatta was human?
As a person who's first language isn't English, i would also like to ask what little details makes her accent Irish? Just so i can notice it as well :)
That interaction with McCree is _exactly_ how I pictured it. God, I fuckin love Moira dude. She's literally this game's iteration of TF2's Medic, and I adored her for that. Kudos to Genevieve for providing such an awesome voice. Shame that we never got to see her in a panel, though
You see, medic is a bit of mercy and moira combined. Mercies powers, and her good naturedness, and then a bit of moira's sass. Because you see, mercy has a bit of a different personality than medic, and moira is far more sassy, and WAY more evil. I say mercies powers because her staff is basically the same as one of medic's guns, and then it is canon that he can surgically add souls to bodies, so I would beilive, similar to mercies revive
I'd disagree. Medic is more sassy and sarcastic. Moira is more evil and sadistic. Medic is closer to chaotic good than lawful evil like Moira. Medic genuinely means well, but his methods are a little.... *much.* Moira's more "progress shouldn't focus on ethics". Moira also openly threatens her "allies", while medic doesn't.
@@SSD_Penumbra Medic is a psycopath who only heals people as a side effect. There's nothing good natured or well meaning about him. I REALLY hope they dig into the characters in the story mode next year, especially Moira. She’s probably the most evil character of the cast, showing no regrets for anything she’s done. Even someone like Widowmaker fears her because of how she removed her emotions. You can hear it in her voice when Moira asks her if she’s pondering something risky after being distant, uncharacteristic of her mental reprogramming. Reaper doesn’t give enough of a damn to truly confront Moira about his cellular makeup causing him physical pain, but it’d be great to see that fleshed out. Her role in the cast is a fascinating one, and I hope we get to see her interactions explored more deeply.
Dude how cold and terrifyingly sick she is..such an awesome character though the voice actress did wonders. The voice line where she asks widowmaker about her emotions was so like cold but it really makes sense with the lore :0

I love Moira's voice. She thinks while talking to someone, like analyzing the situation. I love her development of personality, she's always been someone that speaks her mind even if others don't understand it. I love how she "tries to get into a fight with everyone", but that's just her speaking what's on her mind... Don't take it to heart.
"All that trouble....and for WHAT...."
She's gotta point.
She's an icon.
She's a legend.
And she is the moment.
Now come on now.
That team kill and Reaper just casually looks at Moira. Gold!
The voice acting and interactions in this game are amazing... but Moira surely has the best of the all. Her calm, subtle savagery is a perfect balance to the bright and flashy cast that surrounds her. She's a true scientist, gone rogue.
That Moira's line where she says "Must i do your work as well as my own ?" its so accurate to Moira's mains.. We shall be first healer of the game AND first dps... And we also "tank" like monsters if we're good enough to tempo on objectives. Like gosh, feels good to be Queens.
Hell yeah, it does feel good to be a DPS Moira
We knew reaper’s state was, at least in part, by Moira’s hand… but this is the first we’ve got confirmation she also led Widowmaker’s experimentation. Maybe even Sigma’s too.
She’s really a lot more sick than we saw in ow1
Sigmas mind was already unstable by the time Talon reached to him. But to further exploit his potential Moira i’m sure also has a few things she’d wanna find out about him so she plays along with his inquiries further confusing him as he doesn’t know he’s in the wrong side of the fight.
*SICK?!*
@@alexbolt5 The line with the fairies almost makes me think that she keeps his mind that way on purpose. Smart enough to control his powers and relay his work, but too innocent/naive to realise he is being manipulated.
He's such a sweet old man, and I really hope we get to rescue him from Talon in the Campaign.
@@fizzlock I think the villains that would be candidate for a redemption story would most likely be Sigma and Widow and i’m sure we’ll get to explore some of those aspects in the campaign.
@@alexbolt5 sigma doesn’t even need a redemption story. He just needs to be taken in by OW and helped. He has no clue what he’s doing currently
When I was in college I used to type my essays and when I finished I would read the whole thing in Moira’s voice as if she was making a presentation.
Needless to say my English profesor like them.
4:08 Ana really woke up and choose violence
Yeah, her comeback really shows she's a really mature character lmao
Moira's interactions are great and full of salt, but I'm particularly more interested in Sigma's, he sounds like he would be really nice to talk to about the most menial things.
ikr? His origin video made him look like the monster of a slash thriller, but in the game he's an absolute sweetheart xD
Sombra and Moira's deliveries of "yet" are absolutely *chef's kiss*
Hearing Sigma's philosophical questions makes me think him and Winston would have conversations that go on for hours.
2:48 I really want to get a genji skin if Moira repaired genji
Assuming the only visuals we have to go on for that are Reaper, and also Moira's arm... I certainly don't 😅

@@Helda_Ilweranta To the ear it's more lyrical than most accents, with more lilted pronunciation and slight elongation of vowels.
