AGI Public Policy Seminar - Southeast Asia in the Changing Global Economy

In this seminar, Krislert Samphantharak, Professor of Economic and Public Policy of the University of California San Diego examined Southeast Asian economic development using extensive data. He highlighted the common transition of most ASEAN countries from closed, import-oriented central planning to open, export-oriented market economies. As these nations are now wealthier, with urbanized and aging populations, Professor Samphantharak argues that their focus should shift from promoting growth to enhancing prosperity, resilience, sustainability, and inclusivity.
