trials and extreme trials and extreme dungeons + raids is literally some of the most high stakes intense sweaty moments i have had in ANY mmo , so fun! its only PVP that is very bad because the game isnt design for high movement speed and dashing around like wow, but standing still and executing most attacks

I disagree. Combat is so bad and boring in this game. No combat should not be. "Play ultimate for it to get good and fun." A game should be fun from the get go. Not fun if you are the minority of the player base. Though I guess when you started talking about Lost Ark. I really stopped watching this video. I am not a fan of Diablo. I am not going enjoy a Korean version of Diablo.

I'm a bit late for this but I agree. I just ran Expert on lvl 100 and a leveling duty roulette and I feel burned out again already. The over-scripted encounters where everything is on a repeat loop, the boring rotations and the fact that I get leveled down every time, outside of current trials, max lvl dungeons and the raid is a killer imo. I really wanted to stick to the game this time around but I just can't. I have all jobs on max, done the ex trials and even dipped into savage raiding which I stopped due to a bad static.
The game's biggest issue in my eyes is that old content is TOO relevant. Eureka, Bozja, old dungeons. I get that new players need people to play with but at the cost of my own gameplay experience? No thanks.

@@songoku6067 A friend often tells me "You've got too much time to play. You can do savage if youre bored." I dont want to though. Why do I have to play hard content to be engaged by the game when I want to do fun and chill activities. Combat doesn't need to be hard to be engaging but the game lacks in reward for playing content. I want to dive into the new expansion with new stuff not into Stormblood to grind Eureka e.g. and I think thats the issue. Old and synched content sucks because the jobs get enhanced, reworked and rebalanced for newer stuff so losing half your skillset feels shit.

There isn't anything to 'master'. Unlike other MMOs the core depth and mmo features of the gameplay have all been gutted. MP management, aggro, TP, you name it really. It's as shallow as a puddle. #Healerstrike was started by experienced veterans, not nobodies without endgame experience. For those of us who started at beta we have seen the game dwindle to a toddlers mmo. Where people don't even grasp how to keep up a single DoT or positional rotation. Even grease lightning was totally removed from the game, because people found upkeep and effort 'stressful'. What it is, is pathetic and with the weak story of Dawntrail is now a game that appeals to who they want it to. The brainless casual. For the sake of money of course and that's their choice, it's a cash cow the company relies upon.
There's no room for growth in skill anymore. Thats why they lowered the ceiling. To prevent anyone being able to achieve more with experience/skill over new players. They do this because the Japanese are afraid of confrontation and disagreement.
Ultimately it's a snoozefest to anyone with a brain installed. Body check mechanics at high level content show that individual participation isn't even supposed to be a factor since all your effort can be trivialized by someone else's lack of effort.
Spamming 1-1-1-1-2-1-1-1-1 on a healer is not 'hard to master' and you apologists are delusional. Games were so difficult comparatively 20 years ago that none of you would even be able to play them. It's laughable.

How is it hard to master to press 123 and making sure you're actually pressing your cooldowns once every 60 seconds when they come back up?
The game just further closes the skill gap more and more with every patch. There is nothing to master besides maybe uptime, which is becoming increasingly easy as well.
I'm convinced the game is legitimately being made for monkeys at this point.

Tbh I think one of FFs bigger problems is the MSQ grind for new players. I feel like it's reaching a boiling point with the release of Dawntrail, as asking a friend to try out the game sounds nice until you tell them they need to play through nearly 1000 quests and hundreds of hours just to catch up. I know MMO's are made more for a dedicated fanbase, but with every new expansion that comes out, that grind just becomes even more daunting and unrealistic to ask of a new player, and new players equals more money and potential for the game.
I've got over 250 hours in the game myself and I'm still in Endwalker. I got my cousin to play the game and he's currently in HW, but it's still a slow crawl even with me giving him a ride with the Regalia mount and quite frankly it's boring when your experience with a friend boils down to slowly waiting for them to get to their next dungeon so you can actually play together, and then on top of that your skill's that you've unlocked are all Thanos snapped because of level scaling. Maybe it's just me idk.

At the beginning it's good. At the end game when you're actually playing different classes and jobs it's a no. Healer is notoriously boring and awful to play and that's not a rare opinion. Most people genuinely hate how Healer feels and plays which has only gotten worse every single patch. Tanking is too easy. Your rotation is literally 3 buttons and occasionally a Tank Ability but other than that you're not doing most mechanics. Your job is to just stand there in one spot or get you role reduced to a Blue DPS job as the Boss requires coordinated team movement as it spams AOEs at everyone. The problem is DPS Roles are the only fun ones and the underlying issue everyone has been hinting at with every single expansion. The fights are an interesting challenge but the lack any sort of real freedom. At the highest levels where people are just going for record times the party comps are running no Healers, why? Because DPS roles come with Heals and Resurrection abilities that rival actual healers when use in coordinated effort. It's extremely in favor of DPS roles and everything outside of that is straight up boring and bad. It's a very hard problem to explain but whenever you're waiting on a Healer or a Tank you know the real reason now. Everyone is playing DPS and that's a genuine problem in itself because of how slow it is to gear. Mathematically speaking it'd take years to get every single Job properly equipped. So on top of a boring Role to play there's actually no real reason to go outside and explore other classes despite the game telling you otherwise that you can but you really shouldn't.
Endgame is just abysmal to basically non-existent. The bosses are amazing but literally everything else from your character, jobs, attacks, abilities, job-switching, gear progression, MSQ, and doing Dailies for their miniscule rewards are just all bad. Which is an astounding position to be in for a popular MMO and why it's hard to pierce through the fanbase thick layer of toxic positivity just because the game sold well when people aren't really playing it...

having every pull different in lost ark was so much more fun to do then xiv's the "mathematically optimal rotation" for that specific fight has been created now just follow the script and pray you crit.
especially since the fights as of late are designed so your most intense and important part of your rotation to execute, your burst window is gonna arrive during the parts of the fight with downtime/no mechanics. (even in the latest ultimate fights)

Of the MMOs I've played, I've enjoyed Ultimate raids the most amongst endgame PvE activities. They generally have engaging mechanics that require solving based on various indications, debuffs, etc. The entire raid is involved in resolving mechanics. And most importantly, the barrier to entry is *very* low compared to other MMOs, especially for old ultimates that you can easily use sync'd gear for. WoW's mythic raids tend to be a lot less mechanically involved and require a lot of out-of-raid time commitment, Guild Wars 2 and ESO don't really have super difficult endgame pve at all, I played some Lost Ark around NA launch and it had some interesting stuff going on, but the amount of grinding and mindless/tedious chores/daily tasks/etc. to do to engage in the fun content was way too much, so I dropped it during early-mid T3.
The moment-to-moment combat in FF14 is definitely not the best in the genre, but the games I've played with better combat don't generally have the other aspects that I find more important.

(not that theyd need it because if dps didnt have their own heals, they'll literally fulltime heal). this should halt the "boredom" rants then we'll hear the "its too hard wtf" cries and itll be soothing.

I fully agree with you that lost arks combat clears any current mmo, but id like to input that its alot easier to be a good lost ark player than it is to be a good ffxiv player so I have found personal enjoyment in that aspect of ffxiv, learning my rotations around certain encounters. The answer is 100% yes but the game's draw is more than combat. As far as MMO's on the market, it's one of the big 3 & even though it's combat is garbage, it's a game that ALL mmo's should look up to. It's biggest draw is the social aspect of the game. Period. New player experience? Top notch. Mid game? Top notch. End game? Top notch. Social aspects of the game? Top notch. Compared to lost ark where it's only redeeming quality is the game play combat loop ... FF14 just laps LoA repeatedly everywhere else.

    • @saikame5833
      @saikame5833 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@ChrisJames-qi8oe Depends on the person but as far as player retention and representation, FF14 has an exponentially higher player count than LOA. Even if you added KR players, FF14 still has a multitude more players. It isn't for hardcore mindset players, it's for casual players. Some of it is hardcore but even the hardest raids are far more choreographed than LOA. At the end of the day, FF14 is just more popular.
LOA is extremely good at what it represents, but what it represents just isn't popular. Which in the end will get it shut down everywhere except KR unless they do things like even BDO does now. Pretty bad when a game like BDO known for it's predatory practices even backs off that philosophy and tailors a lot more to casual players. Why? Long term revenue of casual players out pace heavy swipers. Revenue is all that matters for these companies.

@ChrisJames-qi8oe Most games nowadays focus more on addictive loops, selling you a problem and putting the solution as microtransactions. I'd honestly say, there really isn't any super difficult games out. At least to me, nothing competes against things like Master Ninja difficulty in Ninja Gaiden or the original feeling of raiding in vanilla WoW back in 2004. Can't really replicate that kind of difficulty anymore without placing absurd requirements that break the immersion of raids or encounters. At least to me, nothing substantially new or innovative has released in the gaming industry in almost 20 years. It's all just a replication of one thing or another.

@ChrisJames-qi8oe For me, the hardest part of that is trying to do speed runs. At least through Sunrise, every monster is fairly choreographed. And depends on the weapon as to how braindead you want to play. As for open world, I love the idea. Not sure how they will fair in implementing it though. I love the "play at your own pace" not forced story lines, if that makes sense.

Is the combat in elden ring difficult? No, its pretty simple and essy to understand. Are ENCOUNTERS easy? No absolutely not. So maybe we dont judge the combat and call it boring based in a vacuum and we look at encounters?

Lol dont compare those games combat to ff, what a laughable take the reason those games combat are good is because u have to dodge, parry, move and plan each of ur strikes not ff where u just mash ur boring gcds and move out of an aoe every now and then
