Seing your smile at the end was the best.
The footwork and your faking it did the rest.
    Thanks it made my day.

For an impromptu performance without music, that was great! Hardly faking it. Looks like you really enjoyed playing that organ.

Hi Andy - For second time at a theater organ you did pretty well. Like improvisation you are going to be an amazing organist when you finish school. Very good.

“PRETTY well?” PUH-LEASE! He was GOOD for any organist, let alone a second timer! lol

@@mj6962 You will remember that Andy said he was not familiar with theater organs which are in a class all their own. One of the things that separate theater organs form classic instruments is the toy counter. Andy was not familiar with these features to use them.Second there is tremendous amount of unification in these organs. A few ranks of pies are used to form 25 to 35 stops. You have to know how to use thee organs to get around dull monotony. All told, Andy did well for his second time at such an instrument. It requires hours of preparation for any organist to become familiar with the instrument he is about to perform on. This boy did it is a rush. So, objectively speaking, with the lack of his use of the toy counter, a few opps! here and there and his unfamiliarity with the tonal resources, he did pretty well.
For those who thing playing without a score is incredible, most of the old school organists with on stage without music. Just like pianists, violinists, and othera who perform solo or with an orchestra. Have you ever seen Heifitz, Glen GOuld, Alexander Malofeef, Jan Lisecki. or any of the other great pianists use sheet music when performing. No, Andy is following in the steps of some of the greatest performers that lived in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Today's organists are too damn lazy to memorize their repitoir. This boy knows what being a real performer is entails. He will grow, mature and add more to his accomplishments. We shall applaud him loudly and vigorously as he becomes a performer. Perhaps he too shall become famous by being only the second organist to earn his living through recordings, and live performances. Do you know who the first organist to achieve this was??? He did not use music, neither did Fox, Schriner, Cochereau, Elsessar., Pinkham, Lamare, Faxon, Howes, Cook. Heindle and even Cameron Carpenter, two of the notable organist of today also play sans music. It is not so amazing to see a performer play without music. It used to be a standard thing. Now, mediocrity has replaced professionalism.

Hey Andy! No offense intended to the classics but this is my all time favorite of your posts!! I am a huge theater organ fan! My home city has a beautiful Barton. 5 manuals.. love to listen to it’s beautiful sounds.
Your rendition is fabulous! Great instrument great musician. I’m certain you could master both styles/instruments. You are a natural and in addition you are studying! Great commitment to your craft. I’d like to mention the footwork section was very impressive. Difficult yet flawless. Very proud!
I’m impressed that you are a coast to coast organist. Hope your travels went smoothly.
I’m curious about how you think the Baylor faculty would react to your style and post! 😉. Certainly not part of your realm of studies, I’d presume.
So my vote is more of this music from Andy. You certainly appeared to enjoy yourself! Gotta have some fun I’d say!! Sousa would be pleased, not a clue about Mozart however!
God bless you and God bless the USA!

Only piece of advice is, on such a heavy registration, have your left hand on the accompaniment (lowest keyboard) which will take out some of the tubby points in the bass and make it cleaner. Otherwise, a great performance!

Ha! Are you kidding?! You not only played the melody, but the accompaniment WITH second touch accent notes. If this is you “beginning,” then I really want to follow your future progression! lol. And PS: CHORDS on the pedals?! Change that title bc you most certainly ARE a theater organ player!

Can you put a ink in the comment. as I did below or have I broken some TH-cam rule or been blacklisted. I only put it in because I thought Andy would find it interesting. James.

I’m pretty sure you can, sometimes TH-cam doesn’t work

@@andybrown7325 Thanks for replying Andy. I am not that familiar with TH-cam etiquette. If the link in my last post works I just thought you might be interested in the Blackpool Wurlitzer which in one form or another has been there for about 100 years. Sorry for bothering you. James.
