This was one of the few channels to post about syria in 2024 before the offensive stared, two months ago you said the war was about to start again, but never thought this would happen. Thanks for keeping people informed

It's also one of the few channels to acknowledge that this civil war has been going for decades, not weeks. Just because things calmed down and all the fighting moved out to the countryside doesn't mean the war ever ended. So many channels have been posting about how the "Syrian Civil War has just begun" as if Assad hasn't been brutalizing rebel groups and average Syrian civilians for years now.

I'm hesitant to believe that HTS has just given up extremism as a whole. I do hope to see them continue pushing for religious freedom and prove to actually have changed, but im not holding my breath. The problem with religious extremism is that it's pretty damn rare that an entire group just decides to just not be extremist anymore.

@willlastnameguy8329 i think he causes a major problem in that if an objectively proven moderate religious militia opposes the west he calls them extremist, but if an actual jihadist group fights against a regime hostile to the west he minimizes it which gives a greatly skewed perception of muslims to his audience that just results in his audience labeling all muslim groups as extremists. Simon has always been minimizing extremism when the extremists oppose govts that are hostile to the West...been seeing this since he was on visualpolitik en
Nothing wrong with criticising a group who goes against your goals but he shouldnt be bending the truth like that as it makes everything more confusing for the average person who isnt paying attention. We see parallels on downfalls of both Afghan and Assad government:
    * Both had their backers pulled out.
    * Both had conscripts that didn't really put up a hard resistance.
    * Both fell at the hands of former AQ personalities.
    * Both had strong backers that was bogged down on their own problems.
    * Both fell within 2 weeks.

      Actually no. There's a difference.
We didn't necessarily Abandon Afghanistan per say, we made an agreement with the Taliban.
Our conditions were simple. You don't attack us and we leave peacefully. Whatever happens, happens once we're gone.
The U.S. didn't think the Afghan government was going to fall that fall. I remember they were saying that "it would take at least 6 months for the government would fall" ,then 3 weeks later, it well
During the Taliban advancement, the U.S. didn't try to stop them. We didn't carry out airstrikes, we didn't try anything.
The difference between Russia and the U.S. this time around is that Russia was sending thousands into a war while the U.S. didn't have a war going on but we had thousands flying out of Afghanistan.

Once the murder capital of the world, Bukele took power for himself but used it to directly take down thousands of murderous gangs and caused such a massive crime drop that it’s now safe for civilians to go outside without worrying about gangs - with a constant 75-90% approval rating.

Opinion prior to watching this vid: Unfortunately I doubt this will end “peacefully”. There will likely be a power vacuum as groups (and outside ‘influence’) vie for power / control over specific (eg resource rich / geographically strategic) areas. There will likely be fragmentation & thus friction between groups (especially due to elements such as ethnicity fuelled by political agendas and again outside ‘influence’). When in a news report a journalist said about there being two main parties controlling Syria I couldn’t help but immediately think of Sudan. A country that has known nothing but war for so long isn’t likely to just wake up the next day at peace. Obviously I hope I’m wrong and it goes without saying this is just my opinion.

It seems like the transitional government is being established without any real issue. With the arrival of Trump, the United States will resume deals with Asian anti-Chinese countries, strengthen the economy, and expand NATO.
Russia survived, gained international respect, spread weapons and its people in Africa and Asia, and also proved they have weapons capable of destroying any enemy, seriously Oreshnik nullified the entire concept of missile defense in Europe, which Putin and Yeltsin had previously opposed.
