Representing something that is based off reality in a form that articulates that reality smartly is not a fault in the writing, it's a fault in society addressed.

The prose/poem has done it's job then. The point is to make you uncomfortable and address the reality.
You explained well but the story in itself is totally a bad scar in english literature.
