I always feel bad for Joel because he was a good kid who just wanted someone to love him, someone to look up to, and he ended up getting involved with the wrong people. His life has been a roller-coaster ever since.
Joel is such an incompetent whiny boy, who just complains about owning half of the club. With what I'm feeling for Seamus right now I believe I would've done a more successful job than Joel. Usually being a calm and peaceful person this is an alarming thought, I admit, but true nontheless.
That look on Brendan' face in the end was oh God after all these years of hell it is finally over! I can live my life now without looking over my shoulder!

Has this been confirmed anywhere? Or is this all just speculation? Solid or flimsy speculation? In the US, such rumors just mean contract negotiation time, with the actor typically staying. But on a UK soap, I am worried. I don't want him to go!

yes you are right and it is what I believe. he hinted about it and also give us the insight as to what happened imo. Cheryl assume Brendan did not taste the cake but his father brought it up after everyone fell asleep, probably did it to manipulate brendan into getting him to do what he want also because he ran away. it really is heartbreaking when you think about this little boy acting liek a scared animal, running for his life. probably thought he had a chance to escape when he was at chery's.

I also think Brendan only takes these types of actions where there is a threat and that is part of the character that does not bother me. Ste has never had much of a problem with Brendan's business dealings except when he involved other people and considering what Seamus has done I think he would forgive the attempt, so I'm good.

I think it makes sense he's use Joel for this because there's no connection between Joel and Seamus. Who else would he have used that wouldn't turn on him? If he did it himself there would have been motive. I think the writers will use this as a catalyst for a bigger story for Joel these events must be leading to something very significant for him like maybe the return of Warren Fox? It's a disgusting thing to watch at face value but going deeper in the characters makes it riveting.
I"m really upset about this development. I mean, we got a changed Brendan in Dublin, something that had been building for the last few months and to see it all eradicated because of Seamus? There's scads of evidence to show that Bren knows Joel's not cut out to do this. just...SCADS. I fully expected him to want his dad dead, I don't like that he's asking Joel, who is so clearly not cut out for it - a fact of which Bren is more than well aware. Brendan can't kill Seamus because he is covering all his bases. He has to have a solid alibi on exactly where he was when the "accident" happened.

So we're back to crazy and evil Brendan then? Too bad. I liked the idea that he had redeemed himself. Forcing a young boy like Joel to kill his dad for him is just downright disgusting.
it's not rocket science, it's because they love each other, ste forgave him for the beatings and doesn't care he is a murderer so what's the problem? doug wasn't a better choice because ste didn't love him in a real way it's simple as that
I think it makes sense he's use Joel for this because there's no connection between Joel and Seamus. Who else would he have used that wouldn't turn on him? If he did it himself there would have been motive. I think the writers will use this as a catalyst for a bigger story for Joel these events must be leading to something very significant for him like maybe the return of Warren Fox? It's a disgusting thing to watch at face value but going deeper in the characters makes it riveting.
I"m really upset about this development. I mean, we got a changed Brendan in Dublin, something that had been building for the last few months and to see it all eradicated because of Seamus? I'm just heartbroken. For Ste, for Brendan (because all that progress gone) and especially for Joel. I REALLY don't like this. AND I screamed at him to tell Joel WHY!!!!

That simply cannot be how it plays out. It's never that easy in soap world. Somehow that abusive perv must survive...either he just doesn't die or someone saves him. Joel, how dumb are you to take your glove off. Brendan, this is not how new Brendan is supposed to act even if the bastard deserves whatever he gets.
i don't think Seamus is going to die, someone is going to save him. i have a sneaking suspicion that Joel went back in and saved him...he doesn't have it in him (or the stomach) to kill anyone, or maybe even Ste might save him. i don't think the writers would give Brendan an easy out like that. hopefully someone on the writing staff is going to make it so that Seamus lives so that all his dark skeletons "come out" out the closet. Brendan is going to have to face an even uglier truth...
He could have just had Doug killed or did it himself but Doug didn't pose any danger to Ste himself or anyone else Seamus did as did Danny Houston and Warren. Like I've said before even Mobsters have families of their own that are healthy and loving.

yes, definetly joel isn't the right person but I guess from brendan's point of view there is no one else he could ask to, in a paradoxical way it's exactly because of the relationship they have. I think brendan is sure joel isn't going to betray him and that he ows him for the mick thing while he wouldn't trust other people
I hope he doesn't die. Dying before everyone finds out what a monster he is wouldn't be right! It would hurt him more if Cheryl found out the truth about him, killing him off just ends it for him, he gets away with it.

There's scads of evidence to show that Bren knows Joel's not cut out to do this. just...SCADS. I fully expected him to want his dad dead, I don't like that he's asking Joel, who is so clearly not cut out for it - a fact of which Bren is more than well aware. I never expected Bren to NOT be a gangster. I never expected him to go soft (my GOD a soft Brendan would be so boring!), but given how he feels about Joel? this development is just...I don't know...OFF.
of course it isn't and I wouldn't condone it the same but I can understand as a show, people will express something as killing just to axe a character especially when they are wrong. doesn't mean anyone is nuts. I find it interesting however and do agree with you about Ste or church. it will up to him to make the choice. I love Brendan but he is a tragic cause, with that said it is still riveting story and it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Oh no! Worse than killing that bastard is almost killing him. He's going to come to because of the smoke and escape somehow. I hope I'm wrong, but it seems kind of obvious. Joel didn't hit him hard enough.
