7:13 when I make a copy of the center shape, it does not separate like in your screen. When I make a copy, it make a copy of the shape without separating them. What can I do to fix it?

Thanks for the very helpful tutorial. I’ve followed it step by step but I have a little problem: at 12:31 when you draw the rectangle and you hit pathfinder and the ‘minus front’ option, half crown disappears, leaving just the left side visible. I’ve united the the two halves, and tried multiple times but I’m always having the same problem. The right side of the crown disappears as if AI only consider one side and not the whole image. The problem is carried when I draw the rectangles underneath the crown and the little circles as I’m drawing just half crown. How can I sort it out? Many thanks.

Why does your shape break apart with the effect when you copy l? When I copy it keeps the effect and it still looks like a solid shape

The effect at 6min 42sec when i made a copy and dragged it, it didn't separate like yours.I worked around it but I was a bit lost for a few seconds, I had the same settings as you it just did not seperate
