  • The Sasga Menorquin 42 is heaped in Balearic charm but does it cut the mustard in a choppy Solent?

I don't get the square transom at the water line with a fantail above. Waste of deck space and of no benefit to sea keeping. Why ?

A small fridge wouldn't be large enough for cruising for 4 people, so that would be a deal breaker for me. Other than that, it's a nice yacht.

Fridges are installable, and beyond that if people can hike for weeks on end without a fridge then a yacht can manage it.

@@darthkek1953Going yachting is unlike you’re going hiking/camping. You’d expect a few comforts like fresh milk and unspoiled foods for a few weeks away from land and amenities. I guess we North Americans expect a little more.

@@jackvanderhyde8828 Milk lasts, what, a week in the fridge? I'd be wary about milk that lasted WEEKS AND WEEKS in a fridge. Google where the Balearic Islands are. They're in the Med. There are thousands if not tens of thousands of ports and marinas dotted around the Islands and the Med coastline. If you plan on taking it on a remote unsupported cruise then add an extra fridge.
But you show me one American yacht IN THIS PRICE RANGE that beats it. I've seen just about everything Captain Steve has reviewed for BoatTest. At US manufacture prices you'd struggle to find a small open-top dayboat that costs what these do.

@@darthkek1953 There are lots of American built yachts that have adequate refrigeration options, like Nordic Tugs, American Tugs, Sabre yachts, plus countless boat builders in Eastern Canada and the USA.
Yes the waters in your location are beautiful, I agree. Here our waters are little more wild and uncivilized. And you have to pay attention to the tides and weather. Sometimes in an anchorage for weeks waiting for the weather to clear up. So it’s nice to have plenty of food. And fresh milk. We can make a gallon of milk stay fresh in the fridge for at least a month. And when we cruise, it’s for weeks, not a few days.

There's currently a 2-cabin newbuild for sale at £390k so very, very affordable compared to some others. Also this is Category A (Ocean) class whereas the vast majority of yachts are B Class (200 miles offshore).

Extremely fuel efficient, rugged (A-Class rated for the most severe storms) and very cheap compared to other yards.

Ugliest boot ever seen. Like a mushroom on water. Interior for 90+ owners who possible may like that.

So funny about opinions.. I would say it's damn gorgeous with that beautiful sheer and plumb bow. I'd love to know your take on the hideous Princess X95.

I really like this vintage style compared to all these modern yachts that looks exactly the same!

@@AleOle And that "mushroom" cap keeps the hot mediterranean summer midday sun out of the saloon. The Menorquins may be traditional, but that's because they are so highly evolved for their area of origin. Which happens to be one of the World's preeminent yachting areas.
