For those interested, Thomas Hampson, Jay Ungar, and others released a CD of Stephen Foster's songs. It's a marvelous treasure, including many beautiful Foster songs that were unfamiliar to me.
Thomas Hampson is so in sync with the songs of Stephen Foster. There is no one in this particular time period who can sing his songs better. Years ago, John McCormack made a lovely version of Jeannie with the light brown hair that I treasure.
