    8: I guess I need a new companion
    Time Lords: Here's an angry lady from Blackpool
    8: That'll do

    Scaredy Cat, Something Inside and Time Works were originally planned to be part of the divergent universe.

      That makes sense. They needed another draft, especially with something inside

    Something inside gets a lot of criticism, but it is one of my favorite , the idea of the doctor finding himself in a prison for psychic soldiers ,and he must escape an entity that feeds on minds , while he has amnesia, intrest me, and the soundtrack was fire

    Something else I struggled with in Something Inside is that the weird choices for the incidental music really undercut the armosphere

    I like to think that Eight has some kind of time lord neurodivergent condition where the brain copes with stress or the managing of centuries of memory, or whatever by having bouts of amnesia.

      @inkmaster5480 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      *neurodiverse Also, neurodiverse is usually a term used to refer to a group of people rather than an individual. A better term for referring to individuals is neurodivergent.

      @@inkmaster5480 gah, that's what I get for not double checking my autocorrect. "divergent" hadn't been coming to me as a singular adjective, but that does sound much less awkward.

    As much as I see the missed potential here I can’t hate this era, it feels so surreal, the 8th doctor lived through two time wars and lost so many, locked on paradoxes and horrors beyond anyone’s imagination. But yet despite this being an era where the doctor was somewhat back to normal it feels so much more strange than anything in those times.

      I do too. This era has some of the best doctor who in any medium, and the 8th doctor monthlies set a lot of the groundwork for the new show. I dont want to come off as if im trashing these plays. Its just that I know these writers can do better. So many of charley and 8's last stories just seem rushed. Something in side and scardy cat in particular needed another draft or 6. I'm also a bit harsh when it comes to historical and scientific accuracy but thats because most people aren't total nerds like i am. Most people get their understanding of history and science from the media they consume. As far as i see it, if you're going to write scifi or anything resembling a period drama the writee has a responsibility to at least try to be informative. To borrow a phrase from a far superior youtuber, I only complain because I like doctor who and I care.

      @catgirlproductions7792 "two time wars" are you thinking of the events of Neverland and Zagreus as the first one? Or am I forgetting something huge?

    Mild correction on the Greeks not believing in a place of damnation: while it is true that everybody went to the underworld, the underworld was separated into three sections; Elysium, Asphodel, and Tartarus. Elysium is where all of the heroes went when they died, Asphodel is where all of the normal people who led rather unremarkable lives went, and Tartarus is where all of the people who had done evil or wronged the gods went and were usually punished in a rather ironic fashion. Think Tantalus and Sisyphus.

      Thanks I really should have looked that up rather than just relying on memory. I think it also depends on which era. That and the norse myths were written down so long after the fact that there's no telling what they believed about the afterlife. We just have the broad stokes, much of which was Christianised and moat could be apocryphal for all we know

    Great stuff! Do you intend to fill in any of the retconned 8th Doctor and Charley stories that are meant to take place during their first two seasons? Like 'The Futher Adventures of Charley Polard' and 'If I Should Die Before I Wake'? Or 'Solitare' from the Companion Chronicles or the free Doctor Who Magazine adventure 'Living Legend'? Or the real last monthly adventure... 'The End Of The Beginning'?

      Theyre all on the list. This is like a beginners guide and the continuity is all tied in knots so im trying to be as simple as possible.
