  • In a HARDtalk program broadcast on 23rd October 2008, Zeinab Badawi talks to New Yorker, Paul Auster.
How are New Yorkers coping being at the center of the world's financial meltdown?
Where does he put the credit crunch on the scale of disasters that have hit New York?
And are the presidential elections causing a culture split in the US which could tear the country in two?

Nice conversation. I like Paul Auster, and Zeinab Badawi was nice too. The setting, tohugh, terrible (Modern). Thank you.

The setting SUCKS! Why does BBC HARD TALK choose such an intimidating setting?
    Why?

I agree that annoying banal interviewer knows nothing but wants to take over the interview.
Paul Auster always the gentleman of the world and sublime writer of musical books.

This interviewer clearly knows nothing about Paul Auster. Jumping to conclusions at the drop of a hat, she cannot resist when she has successfully thought up the latest ridiculous question, interjecting and interrupting as her last question is being answered cogently and with measured language.

+Jamie .And His Ego ..unfortunately we are at times just fucking ignorant in Britain, particularly politicians and the media. Auster kept his cool, somehow, to have such a great writer disrespected like this is shameful. She is, at least Sudanese not British. Apologies to Paul Auster.

Oh, Paul... had you known the plans the Obama administration actually had in mind about Syria and Afghanistan and the financial system. Great writter, however.
