    I’ll never forget the Saleen slamming gears with a Panoz down the backstretch of Road Atlanta.
    Beginning days of AMLS.

      If I remember right the rules were such they as well as Panoz must produce X amount of road cars to enter GT class.

      What you say is correct but I don't remember exactly the number of cars needed. I went to look for what Maserati did and I found that it was necessary to build 25 examples of the road MC12 to be able to race in the 2004 GT1 championship and another 25 to race in the 2005 season.

      it won its class in 2001 Sebring 12hrs (petit le mans) with Konrad, and won the title in ELMS with the Ray Mallock team. good memories. i miss those days.

    I love any Saleen! My 88 Mustang is a Saleen clone with the entire suspension and brakes being upgraded as well as the chassis stiffening components. The engine was built by a racing engine specialist and dynoed at 400hp. It is cool to see the details of the true racecar here. I believe they were street legal but I have never seen one there.

      Reading your comment, I thought it would be nice to film your car, too 😅👍 Saleen also produced the road version, which had a V8 Twin-Turbo engine and was not naturally aspirated like the racing one. And the road version was equally spectacular. I don't think I've ever seen one on the street in Italy. I don't know if anyone has purchased at least one in Europe. It's a fascinating car; I like to think of its immense engine and all that torque. The racing car is a masterpiece built magnificently and with incredible care. The engine compartment is an example of how much quality there is in this racing car, and in fact, the project proved to be competitive and successful 👍

    ❤ beast of beast

  • @taodej
    @taodej 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    This car was always a beast. Tons of power from the twin turbo engine, but the car itself was pretty heavy. I think it was the 2001 Lemans race where they were leading their class ( GTS class in those days, since GT1 wasn't ) fighting against the corvettes, astons, etc. But unfortunately the engine blew with 6-7 hrs to go. I read a story about how the wipers wouldn't work over 100mph due to the weak wiper motor. How scary would that be running at top speed down the Mulsanne with no wipers in the wet? true bravery. Another great video @italiansupercarvideo.

      What you tell me is interesting; I don't remember that Le Mans episode, but as you say, it took courage to run at that speed without the windshield wiper working. However, if I recall correctly, I would like to correct you because the racing versions always have a naturally aspirated V8 engine, not a twin-turbo one. Only the road version adopted the turbo. I'm happy that you liked the video. The Saleen is a magnificent car; in Europe and especially Italy, we know how to build beautiful supercars and race cars, but we also learn how to recognize when there are other manufacturers (Saleen is one of them) who have created spectacular vehicles 😉👍

      @taodej 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      you are right, i think i just assumed since the engine blew that it was a twin turbo, i'm always happy to be corrected. learn something new everyday, my father used to say.Thanks again@@Italiansupercarvideo

    • @taodej
      @taodej 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      in the early years of the car before they switched to a sequential gearbox, it ran with an H pattern gearbox, which was a handful due to the need for heel and toe up and down through the gears. And with such massive torque and a low revving engine it made it even trickier. Thanks again for this video, these were the years that i really started to fall in love with motorsports. You the man.@@Italiansupercarvideo
