after watching and reading over a few dozens how to make mayo videos and blogs, this video is by far the best for fundamentals and how to fix your runny mess. The half rule is worked great
Thanks for helping me save my mayonnaise. I did it and it completly separated but that additional yolk came to the rescue. Also added some water because was to thick and now happy dipping!
Thank you for this... Ive tried so many other methods usually ending in a salvage operation with such mixed results. This gave me (a slightly tired arm...but) perfect mayonnaise... ☺️🙏🏼
Hi, thank you for listing the ingredients. I think he said tablespoon for the lemon juice? Do you know what kind of oil to use? It wasn’t mentioned. Thank you
@@lourdesyager5521 never use just olive oil, if you want to add olive oil add a little because it will literally burn. The best tasting oil in my opinion is canola oil. CANOLA OIL FOR THE WIN.
I dread making mayo. I always end up a complete nervous wreck. I was going to make some today but Im totally putting it off. But after just seeing your video I might just attempt it once again. Mine always separates.😓😓😓♥️
Do the eggs have to be room temp on both the 1st successful attempt & also when saving the runny mess? I had a mayo fail last night using an emmulsion blender bc my eggs were right from the fridge so I chunked my runny mess into the fridge & ent to bed. Would love to save it but wondering what temp the mess needs to be when I retry. Thank you!
I was searching for this video quite a while. Wonder If sarepta mustard will be great substitue for dijon. Home made mayo and sriracha with fride rice it would be combo 😋 Greetings
I used a blender to make mayo... It broke and I foolishly tried adding another egg... didnt work. Then I tried hand whisking an egg and tried adding the broken mayo little by little as shown in this vidieo, and it didnt work as well. Now I have a thin liquid dip/sauce made of 1cup oil and 3 eggs :( sad
+Kvalifood, Thank you. I use the immersion blender in a 2 1/2 cup mason jar which I though was big enough but I didn't allow for the size of the blender taking up room too practically squeezing the mixture over the top of jar. So I dumped my failure out into a bowl and tried to blend it there. No such luck. So I did like you and dropped a yoke in the jar, added some of my watered down mayonnaise and started the blender again by pulsing it. YES, it worked! So I continued to add my failure filling the jar up as far as I dare while blending continuously. I only had to throw out about a half cup. So regardless of what type of method is used to beat the mayo, adding the failed mayonnaise to the yoke really did the trick. I have nice thick mayonnaise now. And wow, is it good. THANK YOU, THANK, YOU, THANK YOU. I will be making changes to my mayonnaise recipe so I will have room for my blender because the size jars I bought, are the limit I can go because of my blender.
No, but It does help with stiffening the mayo. I would recommend adding just a little instead of skipping it entirely. There is not much else to flavour the mayo, and in small amounts it does not taste like mustard.
well someone learned to thin down thick mayo but using the right blender in the first place would have prevented the mayo from needing to be saved. But it's nice to know that we don't have to make a lot of mayo from the get go. This way we don't have to go out an buy expensive oils to make a sandwich. Thank you
At home and watching my football team. The game got me so intense I needed to get up and do something - anything..., my poor judgement try to whisk mayonnaise. Somehow I managed to produce ~65ml creamy emulsion. But my team falling apart even worse..., anger, frustration, despair, so of course added too much angry Lemon. So mayo emulsion broke to lousy soup. Big time release of foul language and toss into the sink? Nah, just throw it into the fridge for later - watch your Vid and fix it next day. Moral to story...? Maybe only attempt mayonnaise, whisking patiently, emoting something sublime..., maybe Celine Dion "Love Doesn't Ask Why"
i am honestly a bit confused... so you don't cook the egg before whisking it into the mayonnaise? is that not a little risky? not to suggest i disapprove i am just confused

I usually just put it in the dridge for a day or 2 and then blend it with a hand blender and my mayo is rescued 👍🏽
1 egg yolk
½ to 1 tsp mustard
1/4 tsp salt
½ to 1 tsp lemon juice or good vinegar
1½-3 dl (approx. 1 cup) oil
pepper to taste

CANOLA OIL FOR THE WIN.
Thank you. It looks like a lite oil in the video. I didn’t think it was olive oil but didn’t know what kind to use
The best mayo video I could find. Thank you.
Hand whipped mayo is way too much better than a blender mayo
Do we agree here?
Thanks for that. I have tried and tried and failed and failed too many times but now I know what I did wrong,(almost everything) thanks again, cheers.
I knew you were danish because of your accent 😉 thanks for the video 😊
Thank you Chef! A good technique you have!
What would happen if you used the whole egg instead of the yellow?

Is adding mustard necessary?
This is awesome!! Tried to save my mayo and your idea works... Slow and steady wins the race always!!

The best way to rescue separate mayo is to not make it until you have a stick blender.
You're so funny, you've got me at the openinh 😂😂
