Gentleman EDT Intense lasts over 12h on my skin. I remember a day where I left my house to go to school at 5.45am, and at 6pm on the way home my taxi driver asked me what I'm wearing and literally ordered the fragrance in front of my eyes, quite a fun experience
Agreed, when I first got it I didn’t know if I liked it, and funny enough it’s the only cologne I’ve ever had last for longer than 24 hours, I’ve woke up the next day with This still smelling on me and my clothes
Absolute fact Edit: I do have to give them props for Fougeres Marine. Not excessively strong, very nice scent profile, works perfectly in the high heat.
Or even Killian another house highly over rated. Straight to heaven is traumatic to smell. Givenchys current men's range is definitely not hit or miss though and in my opinion is the 2nd best line in the designer world behind Prada.
I haven't smelt that one yet but I will in due time. I recently got Boisee and it is now my signature scent for winter, it has dethroned La Nuit De L'homme and both Spicebomb EDT and Extreme for me, which I didn't think would be possible. 😂
My hypothesis is that the Dior Homme line changed direction to give more room to the Givenchy Gentleman to explore iris-based scents. Both Christian Dior and Givenchy belong to LVMH, so it could make sense that at a higher level it was decided that way.
I often see people assuming that companies owned by one parent company would mean that they cooperate to get the most traffic, but no. How much Dior earns determines their budged on product creation and advertising. So yeah, to put it very simply, they’re like children competing for who gets most candy
I love your channel but I’m not sure I agree with your Gentleman Society point. You are the same person that recommends Rasasi Hawas and there is nothing cheaper (headache inducing) and synthetic smelling than that. Society I thought was a nice office scent with a very enjoyable vanilla dry down. It’s not groundbreaking but it’s a step above these juvenile fragrances that have flooded the market.
I agree with you here. I rock the Society at my work and I absolutely love it for its reigned in, sophisticated , easy wearing and non-offensive aspect. I'ts masculine and addictive IMHO. I also love Rasasi Hawas however especially in summer when I take the dog for a walk up to the beer garden.
Personally, I like Reserve much more than DHI. The dry down is very lovely. I got 10+ hours longevity and always got compliments while wearing it. Love your content and looking forward to more reviews
Finally you checked on these parfumes. My recent favorite on the line is the EDT Intense. I use to have the EDT and the EDP, but the EDT Intense is much better for me. It would have been nice if you had been watched the Gentlemen Only Absolute (2016). Yes, this is discontinued, but this was one of the best/unique scent in the line.
I am new to the Givenchy Gentleman line and have bought Boisee and Privee within the last month or so. I absolutely love both of them and might consider them the best out of the 75 different colognes from all the different brands that I have. They both are absolutely amazing! Boisee is my favorite through its entire life from start to finish and Privee more in the dry down. As far as they smell they are absolute masterpieces to me and I truly feel I would never need to search for different colognes again, they are that good to me. My only problem is performance even when sprayed on cloths. I do not get the 6-8 hours or 8-10 hours at all. A few hours total and then they both are barely detectable even if I burry my face in my shirt. Its frustrating to me to have 2 of the best smelling colognes (my opinion) with some of the worst performance. I can't buy these again unfortunately because of it. Hopefully Givenchy comes out with an extreme version of these and they last longer. It really is a shame that they couldn't make these perform better.
I think you gave a very fair assessment of the line. I do love Reserve Privee though. It has some addictive quality to it that I constantly want to smell. At times I think the whisky, iris, or nutty notes are long gone but then I'll get up and move around or a light breeze hits and I'll get a nice pop from them.
I may not agree with everything you say but I absolutely respect the honesty and fair assessment across the board. I do agree that Gentleman Society is basically everything wrong with modern fragrances, it's pleasant enough but there's no meat on the bones and it doesn't even need to exist. I do however love the original Gentleman from 74, EDP, Boisee and the Reserve Privee is one of my go-to Fall/Winter Scents. To each his own though 🤘🏼
Society is definitely a banger fragrance. It fills the gap between the EDT and the Boisee. Perfect for the office and environments where your fragrance needs to be more muted.
@@aaron4387 I really dont understand the hate for society. I got a sample of it and my sisters loved it and said that they would buy it for their husbands. On the same night i went out and 2 girls told me it smells nice. I really do think that its a great parfume for men
@@aseris8024 Its always the same. I find a parfume i get loads of compliments on just to find out that most people in the community say its garbage. I just bought myself i bottle of society because 1. i like the smell and 2. literally every woman i showed the sample told me it smells really nice.
Sampled réserve privé and Boisé. Réserve privé is my favorite by far. The whisky opening is very realistic and the sweet dry down is impeccable. Boisé felt very familiar and nothing special about it. It reminded me of YSL Parfum or old school JPG Le male in the opening with some powder in the mix but drying down to a boring woody accord.
Aramis was actually my first fragrance as a young man (the aftershave version), and I still buy it sometimes for nostalgic reasons and because my wife loves it and reminds her of our youth 😉
The best fragrance of the line "Genttleman Cologne" got discontinued. Granted it didnt perform well but the opening is a 10/10 and the mid is also super pleasat and invigoratig until it becoms a skin scent after around 4-5 hours. Still totally worth it to try if you see it anywhere. The opening will blow you away.
I agree, GG Boisee has been a consistent compliment king for me, lasts long time if you shower and moisturize well. A little coconut oil on your spray points go a long way here, and I do this for all my scents.
I always enjoy your videos even when I disagree - which isn't too often. I really like this line in general, even Society. I cannot, however, get with Intense. For whatever reason it gives me a headache and I'm talking two sprays, one on each side. The line may not be niche level, but I don't expect it to be. It's good for what it is especially given that people aren't walking around with iris notes. That said, and speaking of iris, none of these even come close to Amouage Interlude Black Iris which we both love and think is a masterpiece.
Givenchy Gentleman Eau de Parfum, is not the poor mans Dior, it is the male version of Dior, which is a bit too feminine for me. It has an amazing performance. Sillage even more than longevity. I love it so much that I bought another 4 from the line.
Thanks for making this video! I’ve been intrigued with a couple of the Gentleman scents for a while now. I didn’t like them at first sniff, but the more I tried them the more they grew on me. Specifically, the Boisee and everyone’s favorite Reserve Privee. However, I still think they are overpriced for what they are.
I have Boisee and Society and i pretty much agree. Ill wear Society if I don't have much going on that day, but if i want to smell great i put on Boisee. But i wouldn't say Society smells synthetic or chemically, its just a little more toned down and boring. I really like them both for casual winter fragrances
I'm glad you stepped away from your bias and went on to give the line a try. It's good to be opinionated and to be subjective at times, but it shows character to actually challenge your own believes. Now you can go back on hating on the line in your other videos. ;)
I'm a woman and, back in the 90s, my dad had a huge bottle of Givenchy Gentleman which I'd use although I was a teenager (yes, I do not care if a fragrance is "masculine") until he gave it to me. It was a beast!
... now see, this is why I love the fragrance community, there's something for everybody - I absolutely love Only, and can get 6-8 hours performance on my skin
I have tried edt intense and edp. As a 30's age person, I enjoyed more the edp version, sexy, special and pleasant fragrance. Edt intense is just a hint of the edp with more freshness and save side notes that everyone would like specially younger age, when I smelled it I had that feeling of I know this smell. But edp is very special combination that you will never find the same in market.
I am looking to purchase a Givenchy Gentleman fragrance. I am going to sample (again) Boise, Society and Society Extreme. I plan on using it for the office and casual wear. I am leaning more towards Boise to be honest but shall decide soon. Cheers all.
@Nuclearbpmb Really well, I have the Extreme version. Strong projection very good sillage. Lasts on me over 8 hrs, which becomes a nice skin scent after 9 or 10 hrs. Highly recommend.
I have the Boise and I really like it, protection could be better but it really suits my skin and personality, I don’t have any of the others though, not sure if I will sample them or not.
The line needs a good long lasting summer fragrence because the EDT is really kinda weak. Imo the original EDP is the only one you really need. The flankers are very good but I would spend my money for other fragrences with a different scent profile instead.
100% agree with you because i personally prefer only Givenchy Gentleman Boise perfume and i purchased it. Rest of the others are just another simple fragrances
