Brodie is 100% right on the trust fund series. His idea of the 5-6 events in different regions is so much better. It would definitely allow the best of the best in each part of the country have an opportunity to qualify for the tour.
I don’t say Brodie is 100% right very often, but I agree. Good idea with a regional Q series. Plus, different regions of the country produce different kinds of disc golfers.
For sure. Logistics should not be an intentional gatekeeper to high level DG. When you get on the tour, yes that’s part of the grind but being able to drive across the states has nothing to do with the sport itself… Paul’s just coming off as old guard saying you gotta pay the same dues that he did, but dude the sport has grown and needs to grow further.
I remember Uli having a bad round at Idlewild, but he took time to talk with my son. I could tell he was anxious to just get out of there, but he still paused in the parking lot and managed to be very nice and personable for my son’s sake. It was very cool, and he has a young fan for life as a result.
The all-star event should be wherever the Superbowl is going to be every year if they are doing it at the beginning of the season. The pro tour/pdga should set up a spot wherever all the weeklong stuff is going on and have all the pros out there throwing discs with the fans having a good time promoting the sport. Also hold some of the skills competition there if possible all of them. Set up other contests for fans and whatnot as well. Have manufacturers out there selling the whole bang. It's a win win for promoting the sport and a awesome reward for being an all-star
I scored 825 in my first ever rated round last Saturday at my 2nd ever tournament. Went home and got my PDGA number. I'm 43 and going for it. Can barely walk after 2 rounds. But. 😅😅 Coming for you on the tour.
Instead of the Q series, why don’t the ProTour team up with the NADGT They already have the infrastructure, the protour could just take it too the next level
I just read that all PGA tour card holders get $500,000 to start but can’t receive earning until it reaches that amount. That is a significant difference and changes the outlook for last place making $16,000.
1:49:05 I really hope this is real because I was just in Baton Rouge for 5 days and really wanted to play here lolol. I actually ran into another out of towner and he also saw the caution rating and said most every other out of towner he had met knew stayed away from that course for that reason as well
Watching this all after the fact. I actually almost went to the skills day Friday because I was in Orlando for vacation but it just didn't work out for what else I was doing that day and it was like an hour west of where I was. But yeah they should have at least done it somewhere near like Miami or something to at least keep it close for players but bring in some other fans
The ease with which Brodie trolls the All-Star weekend and organization is shocking. Hope someone from Pro Tour/DGN is watching, as they hike up prices on everyone.
"I'll just plug my scores into a public google sheet" Hilarious but this is how a number of strongman competitions have their event results followed live by fans
I've got an interesting question/thought possibly for the podcast... I just watched a video 'Does being fat make you better at baseball?' There was some interesting data in the video but it got me wondering because of the similarities between baseball and disc golf. Are disc golfers going about it the wrong way? The general stereotype for a disc golfer that throws far is people with tall, long builds. Is that wrong? Look at how many top pitchers and power hitters are overweight. Will having the extra body mass equal extra distance?
They tried having the men tee off in the morning 1 year and it was a total disaster. By the time the women putted out on 18 the venue was a ghost town. The fans, the mpo players, and all the vendors were out of there
That's a bad take Uli, just because you had to risk it all to make it on tour, doesn't mean everyone should have to, there should be a path in for someone to give it a shot and see if they are good enough without risking their house/livelihood. This line of thinking is how things stagnate, "Back in my day"
I watch more fpo live then mpo because of the time of the broadcast in europe is more easy to watch (watching from the netherlands) Ps. Love your podcast, it ads to following en getting hyped for discgolf
I could not possibly be more with Brodie on his take for the Q series. Winning the events and playing well isn’t easy, access to those events should absolutely be! This “tour” doesn’t change anything, it’s for either bubble players that are already living in their van or trust fund babies.
The idea of just going all in totally plays to people who have the support system to not have a job and go all in. Everytime Paul talks about the bar to admission in pro disc golf he comes off as elitist.
Uli is so out of touch with his Q school take. He wants to make it harder to get the spots but pros can’t even afford to move across the country themselves. Why make it so hard for someone to get in. The pro tour isn’t as prestigious as Uli thinks
I dont think it's anyone's duty to cover fpo if there are no stories to be told. Kristin has been talked about quite a bit because there were plebty of things to talk about. From her sponsors to her dominance. What had the majority of the fpo done to warrant being talked about? If people were dodging fpo because it was fpo, kristin wouldnt be a top 3-5 biggest draw in the sport.
Brodie is looking at the qualifying tour all wrong... Essentially they are all over the US so individual people can pop off in the 3 events closest to them and then go to the q series finale... Only a handful of people will actually go to every event because the money isn't there.
@@BrodieSmith it's the first iteration of the Q series of course it won't be perfect. It'll be more fleshed out in the upcoming years. The interview with the MPO captains was the most informative interview in sports history 😂
Most definitely
😂
I watched this because of this comment 😂
Oh my God can we get a mic'd up practice round with these 4? Amazing

100%, Brodie is on point. Uli, things shouldn't be kept unreasonably difficult just because you suffered through it.
I don’t say Brodie is 100% right very often, but I agree. Good idea with a regional Q series. Plus, different regions of the country produce different kinds of disc golfers.
I think he was right, but I also think that the money might not be enough to do that.

That interview with Calvin and Isaac might be the best thing you’ve ever done. So funny.
2nd hardest ive laughed behind Ricky's Dickies comment lmaoo

I love Calvin so much. So straight forward.
I am dying -this all star convoy is cracking me up.
Freaking “tune into my Google sheets”. I can’t get enough of this but it also feels like dgpt has no idea what is going on.
Calvin has the most dry humor and it always makes me laugh. Thanks for the morning drive entertainment.
The Calvin and Isaac interview is pure gold
What are the odds that behind the scenes Gannon’s messing with Isaac’s camera and Alden’s filming it
The interview was absolutely amazing. Had me cracking up
Dawging the DGPT generated a lot of laughs at this house. Funniest thing episode I can remember

When issac just turned into a mannequin for 3 min and no one noticed until they went to ask him a question 😂😂😂
Hopefully, the rain won't damper the All-Star event. Additional pays for the winners?
Anyone know if Kristin tattar will be at dglo? Only pro I haven’t met that I need to meet still

There's no biased scouting in DG. If a a heavy guy throws well, there's nothing stopping them
Pitchers and batters don't have elevation to traverse. I would bet a bigger guy would not do as well throwing a disc after scaling a hill
