I always knew the Notre Dame cathedral was set around a story about how corrupt the Catholic Church was, but, a setting for zombie infestations and otherworldly phenomenons is kinda strange but fitting at the same time.
All Zombie levels when I was a kid used to scare me so much that i'd stop playing and one day I'd have the guts to play it. I was so terrified xD but I completed them.
"Starting with the expectation that the rhythm of Gregorian chant (and thus the duration of the individual notes) anyway adds to the expressivity of the sacred Latin texts, several word-related variables were studied for their relationship with several neume-related variables, exploring these relationships in a sample of introit chants using such statistical methods as correlational analysis and multiple regression analysis." wikipedia
I remember getting to this level and seeing the dead rise up in the sewers and i got scared shitless lol Took me about a 3 days to finally get the guts to play though the whole level lol But that just made beating the level so much more satifying man i miss being a kid -_______-
This game got rid of most of my fears, I remember it was brought for my 10th Birthday..haha! All the women who were like 'merci' after you saved them...and some of them you just had to kill since they were pigfaced
Until the power's cut to Ultor's monitoring systems, they know every move we make. We're getting mowed down. I hope you can do it, Parker. & Tell Eos we tried, but sniper...'coughs'...on crusher. + Making progress, Marine? Your journey is futile, you will die & your soul will be mine! & Our new reign begins now. 'evil echoing laughs'
lol i loved this stage, when you had to shoot the zombies with the man as help(the hunchback person protecting the maiden from the rope) (my memories are a bit fuzzy)
@PushingUpTrollss my ps2 was fuked up one time, and the zombies where invisible, you could hear them hitting you but u couldnt see them! itw as so scary! and i was playing at night
@godofmajora Basically, oscar6147 asked thesovietend if he understood what they were singing, and thesovietend said yes, so then oscar6147 said thank you, and I can't really understand the rest (I'm taking German language classes). Next time, just try Google Translate.
This boss was one of my favorite bosses in all games... I mean the giant monster you shoot at with a pair of shotguns, not the pathetic excuse for a human atop the cathedril
i think it could be latin, german or russian but its hard to understand. 3:50 its sounds latin, 3:00, "priviet" is russian for "hello" (?!?!), but the rest sounds russian to me.
it is latin. what else would they be singing in a catholic church? and in the very start you can hear the word ''gloria''. its not german or anything else.
For the record, that chorus is singing "Kyrie," which is Greek for "Lord."
1:30 is an organ version of Mozart's Lacrimosa.
Nightmare fuel. Siberia and this both scared the FUCK out of me.
when my dad first tried out videogames, he played this with my brother.
it was hilarious.
This was easily one of the scariest levels in any game I had ever played when I was younger. I still have bad memories of it giving me nightmares. lol
Damn we need more games like this.....And I know timesplitters rewind is coming but we dont know if it would REALY Come Ok...
My favorite stage from this game. Loved the gothic feel, and of course the Hunchback!
I am still amazed at how the levels in this series could go from genre to genre so effortlessly.
This was great lvl. That whole atmosphere was so "undead"!
this reminds me of Doom 3 BFG Edition & Red Faction 1
I always knew the Notre Dame cathedral was set around a story about how corrupt the Catholic Church was, but, a setting for zombie infestations and otherworldly phenomenons is kinda strange but fitting at the same time.
So pure...SO INNOCENT!
All Zombie levels when I was a kid used to scare me so much that i'd stop playing and one day I'd have the guts to play it. I was so terrified xD but I completed them.
Excellent

sounds like it was in Eternal Darkness.
the stupid hunchback always comes in late on that part where you have to protect that girl. then he runs off with her. ._.
My opinion why this song/music is not on Area 51 and Red Faction 1(PS2), it would be perfect if they would put it on there :).
I wish this song/music was on Doom 3.
I remember getting to this level and seeing the dead rise up in the sewers and i got scared shitless lol

I think the voices are saying "God create a path... God create a path to paradise" or something along those lines.
WOW JUST WOWWW XD
"Come on my dear... LET'S GO!"
@Rivandare1 Gregorian is a type of singing chorus, it's not a language, for what I can understand it's latin (first word: gloria)
Until the power's cut to Ultor's monitoring systems, they know every move we make. We're getting mowed down. I hope you can do it, Parker. & Tell Eos we tried, but sniper...'coughs'...on crusher. + Making progress, Marine? This song made me shit my pants
lol i loved this stage, when you had to shoot the zombies with the man as help(the hunchback person protecting the maiden from the rope) (my memories are a bit fuzzy)
man quasimodo was so awesome at killing zombies. the boss shoulda been Frollo
Yeah, FUCK that guy!
judge frollo should've been in this level
@PushingUpTrollss my ps2 was fuked up one time, and the zombies where invisible, you could hear them hitting you but u couldnt see them! itw as so scary! and i was playing at night
I loved how the girl in rope in the main church could die by shooting the ropes, like my bad, i didnt know i could fail the mission being stupid
this song is a complication of lacrimosa and another song which name i dont know. i found it on another youtube video
@Rivandare1
And what they are singing?
Nostalgia boner. Holy fuck.
I was always freaked out by this level when I was a child. I never beat it because the sewer zombies scared the shit out of me XD.
Me - 8 years old My brother - 12 years old (Back then)
This level in the dark, on normal. Did that stop us? Fuck no.
the hunchback was THE MAN!
Timesplitters, the first game i played where there were NO cheat codes. as if they wanted you to be hardcore, the HARD way.
I always shot at the specific eye that was falling out of the zombies head >:)
I don't know if it's Latin or German or Russian but, I did heard "priviet" at 3:00 I luv
where's the beginning from? i've heard this chant very often now but i dont know the original =/
Who else just let Quasimodo kill all the zombies himself because he was more than capable with that shotgun
Actually, Gregorian means "of Gregory" as in Gregory the Great if we want to be technical....
This does suffice.
@godofmajora Basically, oscar6147 asked thesovietend if he understood what they were singing, and thesovietend said yes, so then oscar6147 said thank you, and I can't really understand the rest (I'm taking German language classes). Next time, just try Google Translate.
@dandaily4 I thought i recognized parts of it :)
@oscar6147
Das is ganz einfach!^^
wenns kein sinn ergeben soll, lass die sänger einfach nuscheln! XD
So hat man keine probleme mit Text!^^
@oscar6147
Ich denke mal das soll Latein darstellen!
who else thinks this would make a great song for the trailer of
'time splitters 4 classified'?
They're just doing a holy chanting that's all.
@Rivandare1 i agree think Gregorian.
This boss was one of my favorite bosses in all games... I mean the giant monster you shoot at with a pair of shotguns, not the pathetic excuse for a human atop the cathedril

@dandaily4
HOLY SHIT YOU'RE RIGHT.
i think it could be latin, german or russian but its hard to understand. 3:50 its sounds latin, 3:00, "priviet" is russian for "hello" (?!?!), but the rest sounds russian to me.
@oscar6147
