Thanks for watching the video. I have done over 200 cabin walkaround from the Carnival Horizon. To check out more click this link -->> th-cam.com/play/PLCo6N98_lrDL04JA_I9bFaNlh7NO4sKw8.html
Excellent tutorial! I recently stayed at a hotel that had this type of elevator. You'd think we were teaching people Calculus, but after N years of using elevators the regular way, I can see how this would be confusing at first.
Thanks Wendy, I am glad you enjoy them. I always set out to make more informative and longer videos. especially if you have watched any of my port of call videos. I did some port walkaround and also how to get to the beach videos.
Soooo. This means that If you press the button 5 times, the elevators will keep passing your floor because there isn't enough space on any elevator to accomodate your group size. This method seems good for 4a. Lol
Very informative When we embarked on the June 13th Cruise the elevators were kind of slow to get to the floor so we were stuck using the stairs it's a good elevator system Carnival should have those elevators throughout the fleet
I liked it because on the Mardi Gras I had to wait like 5 minutes for a full elevator then I take the stairs wasn’t a problem with the fwd elevators on the magic probably because of the glass elevators at least with these elevators you can press it so many times you get the elevator to yourself
Darn it, I've been on the Carnival Horizon twice and didn't know all there is to know about the smart elevators! Thanks for showing me the tips and tricks that make life much easier when selecting a the deck I want...if only person..tap once if three people..tap three times wow!
Happy to help! Its really interesting this fact about the multiple button option. i found this all out my self from working onboard the ship for more than 1 year.
Well Russell...thanks to this elevator video... I will now know how to run the elevators this time on our Cruise.... we are leaving this Saturday Jan 12th ...I'm finally gonna get to go to Grand Turk...
I am glad this video helped out. A d your going to love grand turk. Check out my video I did their. Some more great information about the port --》》 th-cam.com/video/OcCKWVEGFBs/w-d-xo.html
Is there a way to change floors once you're in? For example if we hit 7 to get to our room. Get in the elevator then bf decides he wants to go get soft serve ( he's addicted ) would we have to get off at 7 then start over? If so, no soft serve for him 🤨
I am visually impaired. I get turned around easily. Are the ship maps (you are here) still on the wall (like Mardi Gras) ? I hope the rv screens are large print.
If someone uses a mobility scooter, I wonder if they should count themselves as two people, just because the scooter takes up more space than a single, standing person.
Inside the elevator their is a phone to allow emergency calls. Someone will answer and send someone to get the door open. Very similar to any other regular elevator.
Their is an extra button I didn't point out that allows extra time once the door opens. And also a different notice to alert you to which car you would need to get in.
My question is what happens when you choose 4 people for the elevator and as your walking on 2 more people walk in before the door closes? Do I tell them sorry you can't get on I only requested the elevator for 4 people. That would be kind of rude wouldn't it? 🤣
You would try to locate the panel outside, then you would press the wheelchair button on it. It'll start talking, & once you hear the floor you want to go to, press the wheelchair button again, & it'll tell you the car. Hopefully it'll also give you extended open time. Hope this helps!
Hey elevating, thank you so much for the information this helps out a lot. This will give me more confidence on board the ship while using the elevators, Plus I intend to reach out to the special access department guest services to help me out as well again thanks for the information
They need to press the button to let the elevator know more people are waiting. It only accounts for the number of times it was pressed prior to arrival.
I Like Cruise Ships That's the type of elevator system this is, where you select your floor on the outside & there's no buttons inside. This specific system is made by Schindler & is called PORT.
It's a foolishness even for old people who don't know how to use smart elevators. Is there a botton for a disability people or they must press a lot of times to have time to get in?
This actually seems really confusing. And here's a curveball. Say there's one person waiting for an elevator, and suddenly a large group shows up as it arrives. What then?
Yes it does. And no buttons inside so if you change your mind too bad. I would rename them “dumb elevators!” If I was in that situation. Besides so what if you’re like me badly vision impaired? Good luck trying to read that little screen on the wall.

No wonder I couldn't get an elevator that day. This guy was sending empty elevators to floors just to make a video!
I was filming at like 2 am .... hehehe Sorry 🤗
lol, I was thinking the same thing. I was on Horizon in 2019, and I ended up just using the stairs. It was quicker.
Send this link to everyone booked and all future bookings for this ship.
Well done .
If only I could. 😁
Personally, to me, I would like the ability to change my mind once in the elevator, to choose another floor.
Are you that person in the fast lane that decides they want to get on the exit ramp too?
Thanks. Very helpful
Awesome explanation. Im ready now 😀
Best explanation of how those elevators work!
Thanks. ❤🌝❤
great video. Boarding this ship on Saturday so perfect timing
Hope you enjoy it! I did a lot of videos on the ship, make sure you check in on my old liquor store. Russell.
Thanks for the video cruising on the Horizon in Dec. Now I just heave to remember this.
You can always watch it back closer to your cruise date. Or add it to your playlist.
I Like Cruise Ships I will for sure watch it closer to the cruise time
Excellent tutorial! I recently stayed at a hotel that had this type of elevator. You'd think we were teaching people Calculus, but after N years of using elevators the regular way, I can see how this would be confusing at first.
Thanks. I am glad you like the explaination. It seems smart elevators are going to become the new normal.
What about if I change my mind to where I wanted to go once inside the elevator?
Thanks for the video. I've been on Carnival 16 times but would have been confused trying to get an elevator this time.
Hehehe. They can be a little confusing at first.
Wow, this is super helpful...great video 😊
Thanks. Glad you liked it. ❤
*Very Well Done...*
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
love ur vids - extremely informative!
Thanks Wendy, I am glad you enjoy them. I always set out to make more informative and longer videos. especially if you have watched any of my port of call videos. I did some port walkaround and also how to get to the beach videos.
Maybe a paternaoster lift would better serve cruise liners lol
Soooo. This means that If you press the button 5 times, the elevators will keep passing your floor because there isn't enough space on any elevator to accomodate your group size. This method seems good for 4a. Lol
Thank you!
Very informative
When we embarked on the June 13th Cruise the elevators were kind of slow to get to the floor so we were stuck using the stairs it's a good elevator system Carnival should have those elevators throughout the fleet
I am sure over time they will retro fit them.
I liked it because on the Mardi Gras I had to wait like 5 minutes for a full elevator then I take the stairs wasn’t a problem with the fwd elevators on the magic probably because of the glass elevators at least with these elevators you can press it so many times you get the elevator to yourself
Thank you nice

That's neat!

@@ILikeCruiseShips thanks Russell...we are going again soon this time Cozumel Mexico...on may 12th 2019...
Is there any button or icon for a scooter?
Is there a way to change floors once you're in? For example if we hit 7 to get to our room. Get in the elevator then bf decides he wants to go get soft serve ( he's addicted ) would we have to get off at 7 then start over? If so, no soft serve for him 🤨
Heheheheh. Correct. Inside you have no buttons. So yes get out and request a new floor and wait for that elevator to turn up again.
I am visually impaired. I get turned around easily. Are the ship maps (you are here) still on the wall (like Mardi Gras) ? I hope the rv screens are large print.
I hate these elevators. Because of them, I most likely will never sail on the horizon again. I’ll do Vista, or one of the Mardi Gras class ships
If someone uses a mobility scooter, I wonder if they should count themselves as two people, just because the scooter takes up more space than a single, standing person.
Hello russel :D
How's it going 🌝🌝
Thank you, but what happens in case of an emergency while on the elevator?
Inside the elevator their is a phone to allow emergency calls. Someone will answer and send someone to get the door open. Very similar to any other regular elevator.
Can i have a playlet of all of your video from 2019
Sure, This might be helpful? --->> th-cam.com/play/PLCo6N98_lrDL04JA_I9bFaNlh7NO4sKw8.html
What if you have a mobility scooter?
Their is an extra button I didn't point out that allows extra time once the door opens. And also a different notice to alert you to which car you would need to get in.
What if one of us has a skooter
What about accessibly, like someone in a scooter
There is provision for that. Russell.
every year for ten years now i have asked rcl to install destination dispatch elevator system to speed up travel.
this was a first on carnival ships when these were installed. it definitely polarizes people when they first use them.
My question is what happens when you choose 4 people for the elevator and as your walking on 2 more people walk in before the door closes? Do I tell them sorry you can't get on I only requested the elevator for 4 people. That would be kind of rude wouldn't it? 🤣
How would you figure for someone in wheelchair space?
Interesting question. Thiwr is another button before the regular.one that is for wheelchairs.
Thanks for the video would this also apply to someone using a motorized scooter ?
Bear Bull Cruising Yes
Hello Russell how would these elevators work if I am using a motorized scooter also I am visually impaired ?
You would try to locate the panel outside, then you would press the wheelchair button on it. It'll start talking, & once you hear the floor you want to go to, press the wheelchair button again, & it'll tell you the car. Hopefully it'll also give you extended open time.
Hope this helps!

No problem! This should also be the case for any kind of elevator w/ this system.
Man i went on it before i watched dis
Sorry. I was planning to film it earlier. But some other plans for in the way
To be honest, seems like kind of a pain. What happens when other people don’t follow the instructions and the is elevators always full?
what happens when you are waiting for the elevator with 2 people than all of a sudden 6 more people show up ha ha ha
They need to press the button to let the elevator know more people are waiting. It only accounts for the number of times it was pressed prior to arrival.
What if you’re in a wheelchair?
Destination Dispatch
Huh .?
Check out Kone Polaris
I Like Cruise Ships
That's the type of elevator system this is, where you select your floor on the outside & there's no buttons inside. This specific system is made by Schindler & is called PORT.
Lol that's a lot of work.
No it is not it only takes a second to push a button.
its fairly straight forward once you get uses to it after the first or second time.
It's a foolishness even for old people who don't know how to use smart elevators. Is there a botton for a disability people or they must press a lot of times to have time to get in?
It wasn't covered in the video, bit yes Their is a button specifically for people with varying abilities.
This actually seems really confusing. And here's a curveball. Say there's one person waiting for an elevator, and suddenly a large group shows up as it arrives. What then?
You all have to squeeze in together I guess.
Then you do the hokey pokey
Yes it does. And no buttons inside so if you change your mind too bad. I would rename them “dumb elevators!” If I was in that situation. Besides so what if you’re like me badly vision impaired? Good luck trying to read that little screen on the wall.
This is sooo stupid. Why change things that work
Right, when it was first installed there was a lot of complaints about it. Russell.
They don't work FULL elevators stopping at floors it is easy to push a button more than once for multiple people.
