Awesome hike! It’s good to bring something like a bicycle repair kit with you to mend boots, clothing and tents. Wrap a bit of duct tape around a pen 🖊 for emergency use.

Where I was born on the Edges of Mt Kenya forest there's no route to enter the forest since it is very thick only footpaths n dangerous but as children we used to venture into them and do crazy things I can't attempt now as an adult. I don't know where the courage was coming from 😁😁

When I see outsiders come to Kenya and visit places that I have never been into, i pity myself realizing I don't have money to visit such places yet these people travel miles to come to Kenya.
He's Kenyan though...
I'm Kenyan though lol! The trip to Ngare Ndare is quite affordable. Don't be disheartened, there are several budget friendly ways to visit places.
I understand that many Africans can't afford to go and see the wildlife and fauna of their own continent. Some of the parks are, however, more affordable than others. But .... it still takes money, yes.
And mow is probably not an easy time although prices are down ....but so is money :-(
But then it is good to see your gems through someone else's eyes :-)
500ksh from nairobi 2k entrance fee to that forest its not that expensive

'Ngare Ndare' should be Kikuyu meaning 'fewer or counted leopards'. Though Maasai/Samburu share names with Kikuyu. Love your content.

Not true. Comes from the Maasai words Enkare Ontaare, Meaning goats water. The river and the and the forest are both in Meru County where the locals refer to it as Ngarīntaarī, which is corruption of the original Maasai words
@@kevmwenda4044 You mean there is no word like 'ngare ndare' in Kikuyu language. Whether it's a corruption of maasai name, but the current name is Kikuyu. Note also Kikuyu share several names with Maasai, including name of God, - ngai. The interation between Kikuyu and Maasai date back before colonization. Waiyaki wa Hinga, a kikuyu leader warrior was a Maasai - ole Iraki (the 3rd and 4th generation of this warrior are settled within Kinoo/Muthiga area, near Kikuyu town, about 13kms from Nairobi). Lenana, a Maasai leader is said to have been a Kkkuyu - Wainaina. There was a provision, a leeway with the tribal laws in both communities, where a person who commits some certain abomination could be given a flight chance to escape and live among the neighbouring tribe for good. Anyway those are old folk tales, but true.
Kelvin Mwenda I concur with you. Having been born on the Edges of Mt Kenya forest I had all my childhood games played inside the forest. Can even attest we lost around two age mates on those jungles, a story for another day 😪

Was there few months n couldn't swim... Was so cold... But atleast I enjoyed the canopy walk
See if you can visit again during the warmer months, the pools are still cold but taking a swim is an experience I highly recommend!

I've missed my childhood. Having been born and brought up at the Edges of Mt Kenya forest in Meru, I miss those childhood plays on swings from trees n diving from it into those pools. Where was I getting the courage to do that because if its today's i cannot risk at all.
The mind of a child. I also couldn't wait Kwenda ushago kila holiday. Just for free swimming and tree climbing. #whydidwegrowup

Currently I'm scared of heights. Can't jump into a pool of water even if it's five meters. As a child i could even somersault three times on the air as i jump inside a ten foot pool. As I grow old I'm more careful i see. 😁😁
