Absolutely the best video I have seen on this type of conversion.I have a two year old fridge with a blown board that I want to convert. All these modern electronics are fine when they work but they are not reliable and are terribly expensive to replace..
Amazing job! A neighbor is selling me a refrigerator with a damaged board pretty cheap. It's not an iPad! I don't want to bother myself with complicated electronic boards if they don't offer a significative advantage, so I'll swap the system to an old school thermostat controlled one. Thank you so much for the recommendations! Just a note: isn't it better to place the thermostat inside the refrigerator section, other than the freezer? I've seen most thermostat designs do it that way. And then, you control the flap opening, but that way, you assure it doesn't go below freezing or relatively warm. Freezer part will have so much better thermal stability, at least in a home refrigerator.
Very nice example of keeping a unit in service. Here on my most recent project the 'Frigidaire "adaptive defrost board" is no longer available. I will be looking for old generic analog parts to replace.
Great info on how to change back to old school fridge. I will say that the circuit board 'failure' is probably just the relays that fail, that is what i've seen on the boards here, they are really the only thing that wears out. But you can just unsolder them and replace them with new relays for a few dollars.
thank you for the videos they are appreciated greatly, i never learned this sort of hackery at school nor my boss, mainly because they are sticklers for rules, but to get out of sticky situations this material is awesome. cant tell you the amount of times ive had to give up on devices because the hopeless guys at parts shop could be bothered doing their job properly. there is one thing i would be inclined to mention is product load in the fridge section is going to suffer on shopping days! maybe you could make the damper in the duct to the fridge adjustable, or something?? anyway it did do the job.
i'm fixing a fridge, there's something fucky with a dumb and pointless electronics board with an overheating resistor for unknown reasons that jams the whole thing, I think I'll opt for that old fashioned but proven solution and find a good Danfoss thermostat instead.
The defrost timer that I use has a diagram on the back of it. The only difference is that I break the compressor & fan wire through a mechanical thermostat.
I hope you can help I have a Daewoo fridge freezer no FRA-U21PCI I was wanting to no is it possible to do the repair this by replacing the pcb boards control of the defrost cycle with mechanical hardware would you be able to advise me on what to purchase, thanks in advance. Paul

hello, I have a 2 door fridge, with a defective defrost control board , I switched to a mechanical defrost timer & cold control thermostat, the original electronic thermostat sensor was connected to the defrost control board , & located on the side of the control board housing assembly , know I have a machanical thermostat, where would you recommend me placing the sensor tube ? I currently have it in the same location as the electronic sensor ,but its causing the food to over cool some times ,any recommendations would help, I have ben watching your videos for a while thanks for sharing, from New York
The position where your electronic sensor was, is a good place to put the mechanical thermostat. You will just have to calibrate the thermostat until you find a suitable temperature.
@@JDNelRefrigeration , thanks for your response, I do see 2 small screws on the side of the thermostat, can u recommend me any helpfull videos where I can watch & calibrate my stat ,because I dont want to wrongly calibrate it from the original factory setting.
There are 2 different ways to get around that. 1. Replace the compressor with a conventional type. 2. Run the compressor through an inverter that you can manually switch on & off through the mechanical parts.

Nice i understand everything you are doing but would have never thought of it myself 👍
Great job , you inspire me here in Jamaica. I uses your ideas
You inspire me a lot with refrigeration, carry on with the good job

There are many ways to do it. My way is not necessarily right or wrong, all the modifications I do have been copied from different types of designs.

Correct. Our electricity varies in this country in voltage, and we often get power surges that affects the power supply to the integrated circuit.
Hi there. Do you have any videos or info on how to replace relays on the pc board?
@@MrVoodooMasterX Just unsolder it from the board and solder in a new one.
You can tell their bad usually melted
Great work buddy. & your demonstrations is fantastic 🤝
Great video. Really interesting to see this done in with such neat workmanship and electrical control knowledge
Nice work, and a pleasant accent :)
great work, I've learned a lot from your videos

I have good Danfoss thermostats in stock if you would like to buy one.
Nice Informations Sir
Thanks..
I have LG refrigerator it food. Compartment thermostat is faulty and not available in market, I will change it with manual thermostat.
Tell me how you open the part with circuit board and LED, please!
Underneath the top facia panel on each end there is a plastic stud that you pull out and then the cover just slides out forward.
I teach HVACR in the USA I like this. Bosh is high end so this is good a low end model would not be worth it.Would like to see a wiring digram.

Yes, exactly the same as the Bosch.
Hi. I have a F350 upright freezer and I want to change it from pc board to mechanical, with the thermostat and that
It is not a difficult procedure
