Glad to see Pete using his Esh bass when he use to have an endorsement deal with them (they are from Germany). They built two models for him; one with the green fret markers and one with red fret markers for Carnivore. I contacted the owner at Esh after Peter got himself well and the owner Rolph asked if Pete was interested again in playing Esh. I forwarded the email to Pete but it was just a short while later that he had passed. Pete's best basses IMO were his Alembic Spoiler Series I is around $2500 used today (it was a 1984 model) & around $10,000+ for a brand new one. I'm thinking Pete scored a used one and then he wrecked it by painting green fret markers on it, bolting a chain to it etc. I doubt he'd hae the $$$ back in the 80's to pay for a brand new one and if he did he wouldn't thrash it. RIP my friend - will never forget sitting on the couch with you in Seattle & you having me in tears telling me stories - esp. when you beat the crap of the guy that your GF was messing with. The 911 tape was the best hearing a neighbor lady on the phone with the police saying "Hurry, there is a giant barbarian beating up some other guy!" lol. Pete broke his hand from that but sat in Rikers Island then got moved to the psych ward which was unfortunate. He told the story with so much humor & enthusiasm I couldn't help but to laugh the entire time.
I remember seeing them play in Groton, CT on Halloween in ‘95. Small place, the kick drums were configured as light-up jack-o-lanterns, Peter polished off a couple bottles of wine and tossed some pumpkins into the mosh pit. One of the most unforgettable shows ever.
I counted approximately 13 seconds on that beastly scream in Black No. 1, 34:36. Peter was like no other.
