I mean, most music is in 4/4, it’s the most standard. As far as deciding if one section is life or death, the best I could find just listening to it is the line “may we find fortune after life” in the 4/4 section. If I could find a lyrics video that was accurate there’s probably other lines alluding to life or death but I just can’t catch the lines very well with everything else going on in the song

@@colnelScar2 Did you forget? Nald is Keeper of the Living and during the mechanic is in the position of Thal's Balls. Which means all those dropping balls? Nald is respawning them.
One detail I really love about Aglaia is sheer scale of the battles--and how they make perfect sense. I guess it's me being a nitpicky writer, but a lot of JRPGs have you fighting literal gods--sometimes as the final/true antagonists. Which is fine and all, but in pretty much every instance, these villainous gods are made out to be incredibly powerful beings...that you as the protag destroy either by yourself or with a very small party. For me it sorta defeats the idea of "nigh-omnipotent bad guys." So I definitely appreciate how The Twelve are handled in FFXIV. Having 24 players all fighting a _single_ god, and all the battles with these gods being long and arduous? Yeah, that definitely makes more sense to me. FFXIV's gods must be pretty goddamn powerful, lmao--pun totally intended.
The thing about the Twelve fights is that by the end, they don't even seem villainous, just that they're testing you. At least as far as we know in the story. Honestly would be a breath of fresh air if there was nothing sinister behind this raid series and they're just guardian dieties of Eorzea who want to test it's protector, the WoL.
To make what you are saying even better, these are not actually real battles, at least not from their perspective. They were just lifting their hands and feeling how hard the WoL and his friends can punch, and their answer was "not bad."
@@HCSR2 Yeah, it totally plays into this that, in the end, you're not actually beating them. They're still alive and well and just choose to yield after you've proven yourself.
@@HCSR2 In a sense, it reminds me of the optional bosses in Octopath Traveler. You have the four gods who test your worthiness to use the advanced jobs (Runelord, Sorcerer, Starseer, Warmaster), and they're all pretty tough...but then you have the true final boss of the game, Galdera, who's one of the 13 gods in the game--and you fight him to the death. He's still one of the _hardest_ bosses I've ever fought in an RPG in a long-ass time, haha. Maybe some other people here can attest to that; the difficulty spike is absolutely unreal. So if the Twelve are just testing you with battles that are crazy-long even with 24 players, what would a fallen god whom you have to fight to the death be like? I can see that being an Ultimate raid at the very least, but also the true/ultimate final boss of FXIV as a whole.

no idea what you're talking about, but it sounds good!
3/4 is a waltz time signature whereas 4/4 is just a standard time signature. Unless funeral dirges are typically in 4/4 (and I don't believe they are) I'd like to hear more to back up this assertion
I didnt even realize there was a time signature change in the music

For the first time in ffxiv small history im more interested on 24 man raid than 8 man, everything is perfect the looks the fights and the awesome music
I've been hooked on these since Stormblood. Ivalice Raids all the way. For me
honestly have to agree haha. I've started to lose interest in the game because I just haven't been enjoying raiding this tier, but then the alliance raid came out and the new extreme trial and reminded me why I love this game so much and why I am willing to to savage raids in the first place, because the bosses and music they make usually has me wanting to get past them unlike p3s where I really just don't care about the tier. I am excited to see the trial series next patch again thanks to this alliance raid!
Th Alliance raids are some of my favorite pieces of content for the whole spectacle of them, and the creative designs!
@Ahmad Ryan
That's fair. Stormblood had Ivalice, which if you didn't play the source material I found it very zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. NieR was a mess that I don't want to think about, so technically our last in-world story Alliance Raid was Heavensward >_>

Me every time I find a new favorite in Soken's work: he can't possibly top this.
Soken every time I say this: Hold my sake.
Footfalls is better imo
One detail I really love about Aglaia is sheer scale of the battles--and how they make perfect sense. I guess it's me being a nitpicky writer, but a lot of JRPGs have you fighting literal gods--sometimes as the final/true antagonists. Which is fine and all, but in pretty much every instance, these villainous gods are made out to be incredibly powerful beings...that you as the protag destroy either by yourself or with a very small party. For me it sorta defeats the idea of "nigh-omnipotent bad guys."
So I definitely appreciate how The Twelve are handled in FFXIV. Having 24 players all fighting a _single_ god, and all the battles with these gods being long and arduous? Yeah, that definitely makes more sense to me. FFXIV's gods must be pretty goddamn powerful, lmao--pun totally intended.
the sheer scale of the battles is great from a lore standpoint, terrible for my computer which makes me lag the entire raid T.T

Life's blood -> Lifeblood
What for we may not know -> That world we may not know (really not sure on this one)
To hells and heavens both -> To hells and heavens flow
May we want all that gold can buy -> May we want all that coin can buy (Still doesn't sound entirely accurate but it's closer)
May we all as true equals fight -> May we all as true equals die
