      Monroe had no children/ family that might have prevented this. Sigh. 😢
      Liz Taylor's last house, and her belongings, had a much different outcome. Why? Because her children and grandchildren adored her. Her jewelry was auctioned off. And her house was sold. Everything was probably planned by her. And family carried out her final wishes.

    The only reason any place should be torn down is because it is uninhabitable due to mold, mildew, etc. Tearing it down because of it being a tourist attraction is certainly not a good reason, if the people living in or around it dont like it, they can move away. Their sense of entitlement is astounding.

    the current owners knew whose house it once was owned by, before they purchased it - and that it was a tourist attraction (because that did not just begin) // and I’m sure that its once belonging to Marilyn Monroe was part of the enticement to purchase it
    //
    as for pink’s .. before it even became a business inside a (it’s existing) physical structure ,, it was simply a cart selling hot dogs on that corner … until the owners decided to go to the bank across the street and obtain a $5k (I think, although the amount may be incorrect) loan for what is now a city land square

    I don’t understand: when she was alive, no one did anything to help her. However, she has been died for over 60 years and people are so fascinated.

      You're wrong. Joe Dimaggio was always there for her. He tried to protect her, to help her. He could only help as much as she would allow. She was playing with fire and as a result her life was ended. After her tragic death, Mr. Dimaggio came forward and claimed her body. He arranged her funeral with respect and dignity. For years he had roses placed at her gravesite. It's true she had little family, but she did have someone. We, her fans, are fascinated because she was the most beautiful woman ever, most iconic actress. Also, because of the mystery surrounding her death. We want the truth and we want her name cleared. She did not commit suicide and everyone knows it.

    I don't buy it for a second. They knew what they were getting into. They want to build a McMansion and it's the city's responsibility to prevent it. MM's memory isn't the only reason to preserve this home. It's a beauty, old CA architecture, and people have plenty of new models to choose from, so move. Leave old architecture alone!

    The only value in the property is the placard in Latin, ( My journey ends here), historically speaking. Other than that it’s just another piece of land. She only lived there 6 months! Does not merit preservation, just a sad reminder she was finally after years of hard work, able to own her own home. Demolish it and preserve the placard in the front door. ❤❤

    Instead of demolishing it, the owner should be allowed to *donate* the structure to the city. The city can relocate the house at the taxpayer's expense. It's a win/win.

      The property would lose so much of it's mystique if it were relocated. It just wouldn't work.

    Okay but it is also ridiculous to save people's houses after they die, just because you think the owner was beautiful or famous

      There are certain people like her or Elvis or Michael that reach beyond the normal level of fame and become icons. And yes everything attached to them should be saved.

    Did Pink’s sponsor this video? What did it have anything to do with the Marilyn Monroe house.

    The current owner should have the right to flatten his own property if he desires.
