​@@aakash3724 convert inches into cm and then length of the tank*breadth of the tank* how much cm you want your sand in the tank
Eg.) For a 2 feet tank let's say the length= 60cm, Breath= 30 cm, height= height of soil necessary in this case let's say you need soil for 5cm
L*B*H= 60*30*5= 9000ml
9000ml = 9 litres which is the standard soil bags available in market

It is possible u can use plants like cobumba, foxtail, dwarf Sagittaria, Water sprites, hornworts etc
But if you add vermicompost as the base layer and then cap it off with river sand you can add more plants
As far as carpet goes for a low tech I'd suggest dwarf Sagittaria

Sand must contains some nutrients. River sand mostly do not have much nutrients. Better mix with some nutrient substrates

No you cant use white sand alone... You need some nutrients in it.. White sand only for decoration purpose or you can use substrate at bottom and use white sand top of it

Hi, I tried to grow carpet plants using seeds in my nano tank. It's been almost three days. But I could see some white mold or fungus on the top of seeds here and there. How to get rid of that? Will it affect the seeds from growing 😢? What is the reason? Please guide me.. Feeling bad.. Pls Give me the contact number if you are ok.. I would get the doubts clarified directly.. I wouldn't recommend seeds in the first place. You can rather get a carpeting plant and plant them directly.
But if due to budget constraints if your able to get seeds only then close the top with cover and poke some holes for air ventilation to prevent fungal growth. If your still facing the same issue then leave some mollies in the tank they love to eat fungus.
