So I just continued on enjoying SA.
Looking forward to the 2038 bug actually causing problems because the public doesn’t think Y2K could have been that bad when things like 32 bit Android won’t boot after January 1st 2038. The good news is 64 bit programming languages&hardware have no issue with time and date due to having a high integer limits. Currently the maximum date a modern 64 bit computer can track is over 282 billion years from now, which is more then enough to last the entire history of mankind. Buuuut banks might be fucked. 95% of ATMs still have COBOL lying around in their backend systems.

Had this actually happened, we in the states would have known it was going to happen at least 14 hours in advance because of time zones, not sure how it would help though.
If planes really did fall out the sky, it would've happened in Asia first because of the different time zones, and America would've grounded all planes while they are still in December 31st, 1999.
Realistically, it would be impossible for a plane to just simply stall mid flight for these reasons. 1st reason: Planes run off hydraulics 2nd reason: The engines are fuel powered, not electrical, power would definitely not be lost because of this scenario. The planes would most probably have lost some flight instruments, but the plane wouldn’t just stall out of the sky.
17:26 Haha, no. That's how a nuclear warhead functions, not a reactor. Nuclear warheads are developed around the basis of prompt criticality, whereas a reactor is developed around the principle of having a controlled fission reaction. A meltdown could very well result in a steam explosion similar to what happened at Reactor #4. However, it likely wouldn't be as bad because western reactors are encased within containment units from the start, whereas RBMKs were not. The remaining RBMKs were retrofitted; some received partial containment units.
That would be no nuclear explosion is a power plant melts down. There have been three meltdowns Three Mile Island, Fukajima, and Chernobyl. None of those wound up involved in a nuclear explosion.
