1:28 gets Dollar bill from his pocket, 1:40 Switched it, 1:58 Puts the dollar bill the girl gave him in His pocket, but Disguised as he pulling out a “sharpie”, the guy with the cellphone was definitely in on it. 6:00 behind the table used the shirt pocket to remove the cover from his already printed shirt.

exactly! all of these people in the comments acts like they believe magic tricks are real magic or something. all of magic tricks are just trickery, illusion, lies, scam and most importantly, sleight of hand.
for me, a good magician isn't someone with just fancy tricks, a good magician is someone who can deliver it well and in an entertaining way. I would take a simple card trick with an amazing build up any day over a magician who acts like he's flying 60 cm off the ground with no delivery at all.
It's a sad type of individual that comes to the comment section trying to reveal how it's done instead of just appreciating the good entertainment.

If they were in the audience. They’d be floored. They wouldn’t have the ability to go back and view the trick many times. I’m a magician, Josh did this for us in a show I attended and it went right over my head. One of the best live tricks I’ve ever seen.

Joshua needed to include one more unknown number to the calculation in order to hide the method. In its current form, this trick is begging to be reverse engineered in order to find out the calculator guy's passcode, and the strange number this produces immediate flags the calculation as a sham.
yup, 100%. The fact he could spell it out just means the number was there to begin with and was not random at all. Not sure if the guy with the phone is in on the act, the phone itself (or both), or some other stooge was used. I don't really like tricks like this as its just forced from the very beginning and could not have been any other number.
Stooges are a big no-no as well as broadcasting someone's PIN that they probably use for everything. Neither of which happened here :)

Okay this is so easy to figure out. All those numbers people gave him don’t add up to the number the guy read off his phone. The phone reader is a planted assistant. So he read off a pre arranged number. A number that they figured out ahead of time, which when viewed upside down looks like letters. The dollar bill is also forced, so they can imprint the T shirt ahead of time with the correct missing piece. A small black square covering is removed, revealing the imprint. Clever idea, fun delivery.... but not the most impressive slight of hand

also he said "on the calculator put;" pointing at a seem-to-be random audience member and they already have the calculator ready to go
he is real audience member, theres other ways to force the number than using a stooge.

Nathanael Vertori : That wasn't the final number, though. He had the number multiplied by 8, gave a rough estimate of the result, and then had the man multiply that number by his passcode. (Incidentally, you can figure out that man's passcode by working back from the result.)

Uh... he multiplied the number by 8 (the number of drinks James has had over the past fortnight). That means the final product should be divisible by 8, or at least an even number. How in the hell did they end up with a 1 at the end?
Don’t forget he told the guy to add his passcode to that number though so 🤷🏽♀️

stupid trick and here is why:
this trick has been done millions of times before: the dollar bill that she gave him didn't get torn, he had another one that was already torn and palmed in his right hand. He gave james the torn piece from that bill. Since the bill that was used is the palmed bill, then the SN is known. The calculator that the guy had, already had the the SN entered followed by 0x all the numbers they entered later on. and finally, the grand finally when the number and dollar sign are embedded into the shirt, he made shirt switch effect while putting away the other shirts under the table.
Yeah but he did it on the Late Show while you’re sitting at home watching TH-cam videos.

That plus the dollar bill switch with the one already in his hand (you can see him put hers in his pocket) really easy to figure out but the part that got me was the t shirt switch when he goes behind the counter. Supposedly. But if you do the math, you end up with 5756347.587725463, and there's no way that's the guy's password. Something "funky" happened with that calculation to make this work.
There is a reason why he said to multiply it by the passcode, so we don’t know it, because the final number was already predetermined

Is Joshua Jay related to the world renown close-up magician Ricky Jay? If not, then it is a bit presumptuous of Joshua to use the "Jay" name -- sort of like an escape artist taking on the name Houdini.
That is his name.
That is his real name and they are/were not related. Ricky was a huge inspiration to Josh when he was a kid, however.
The man with the calculator is in on the trick. Because 4210100524101 / 731456 (731456 = 91432 x 8) = 5755780.97 (Not a six digits number to be a passcode)

Very clumsy the way he jammed his hands in his pocket at the beginning, then pulled out a false thumb and stuck it on his own thumb to switch bills.

For everyone commenting saying the guy with the calculator and the dollar are plants...while I can't guarantee this to be false for this performance...this is NOT the case in his NYC show. I took a group of students to a closed door performance in NYC. Nobody in the audience was planted. He had one of our teachers use her cel...and took a dollar from me. So in our case..the trick was done in some other fashion.
It does not matter that he took the dollar from you. The dollar he gave you back was not the one you gave him. Dollar bills do *not* have 13 digit serial numbers.

one of the easiest and lamest trick in the book ! let me give you a hint 1:33 (he already has a dollar bill in his hand), the calculator trick is an old trick so i don't even have to mention it and finally 5:57 ( look how he pull his shirt down)

The trick is quite simple once you understand it's all setup in advance. The calculator being used has the number the magician wants programmed into it beforehand. It's then set so it looks like it's zero out. Any numbers then input will end up with the original number the magician wanted
Once you know that the rest is very easy to follow

Well I may not know how he did that trick but I do know the password to that guy's phone maybe I am being a geek but he announces the two numbers that he multiplies together and multiplies that by the man's password and announces the result? So pretend she did my zip code is 4 and the host of the show says I had 7 drinks last week and he multiplies this by the "secret" (until now) password to get let's say 196 then just take 196 and divide it by 7 and then by 4 to get the password! Lmao rip
If you look closely at 5:59 you still can't tell how he did it.
On the piece of tape it is spelled jalhes, but on the printed t-shirt it's spells james🧐
