Amanda. Review a smutty book you actually enjoy. Please. LOL. Curious if there is such a thing for you. Personally I like Christine Feehan's problematic Carpathian series. Then again, I LOVE The Host.
I have to pause at 4:47 cos I'm laughing soo much but trying to stiffle it cos it's almost 1am so now I can hardly breathe. You may kill me Amanda!! On your conscience be it!!! I wasn't ready!!! 10:48 🤣🤣🤣
Amanda please read Verity by Colleen Hoover, it's on its way to become a movie .... I hate read it a few months ago... Im dying to listen to your take on it!
Amanda gazed up at the enormous portrait of Massimo. One whole year it had taken her to learn what kind of smiles were hidden beneath the "Are you lost, baby girl?". O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving wang! Two wine-scented tears trickled down the sides of her nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. She had won the victory over himself. She loved mommy porn.
Notice how when times passes the male love interest characters get worse and worse. Edward creepy guy-> Christian Gray creepy controlling Billionare-> Massimo super creepy abusive mob boss. So judging by this trend the next abusive partner will be an insane serial killer then after that it be a warlord who commits genocide then finally it be an actual demon.
@@rascoehunter3608 Ah, sorry to bring this up... but they already have stories with crazy, abusive, kidnapping, serial killers with a very hidden... deep inside... heart of gold who is misunderstood, but still borderline forces the heroine into a sexual relationship through hardcore emotional abuse.... but they wont kill children, so its okay. I mean, some of them are in the sex trade, but its okay... they treat their girls right.
I love the "women in mob families don't speak" bit. I immediately thought back to the time I watched Married to the Mob and those gals definitely had things to say lemme tell ya
Yeah, the American mob doesn't have submissive women. They're kind of a meme of the Jersey/New York women from reality shows. Maybe the European mobs are different? I literally have no idea.
Maybe that was true back in the 70s when Mario Puzzo wrote _The Godfather,_ but now is the XXI century, even the Italian mob can't help but advance with the times a little
I’m from Italy and the Italian mob (in all its various types) women get arrested too 😂 there’s scholarly debate on whether they’re emancipated or not in the mob, but those arrested ones were doing crimes alright 😂 there was one that got the nickname “grandma heroin” 😂
Pretty Sure thats based on 70s Gangster movies since... I doubt any of those authors have bothered to do research into gender relations in the Italian Mob... It is Kind of funny because those newer books Always make me wonder... Why would any of those women marry into the Lifestyle? Isnt the Appeal supposed to be the Glamour? The danger? Having a big Bad Boy shower you in diamonds while Security clears the whole damn Island? And instead they depict the whole "women dont speak" Bs that is the opposite of appealing to me. If i want to fantasize about a Gangster, i want to be the chick He robs a bank for, Not watch him slap His sister over talking Back to him 😅
I'm both really happy and really ashamed that the translations happen - I don't want people thinking this is as good as Polish lit can get (it is not, most of us hate the 365 days series and its shitty writing) but on the other hand I'm like "YESSSS NO ONE CAN ESCAPE THIS NIGHTMARE"
@@Yume03 Honestly good for you, I'm just a self-proclaimed connoisseur of bad books (polecam Katarzynę Michalak, skręca człowieka jak czyta coś od niej) and apparently a sadist because I want others to share the cringe I suffer while I'm reading them xD
I'll never watch these movies or read these books. But I enjoy hearing you rant and rave about them. I thank you, Amanda, for suffering on behalf of your audience. You're a champion!
And all of them are unlikeable brutes who always must be THE Alpha of the universe or else they'll throw a temper tantrum What a world that "Protagonist" lives in
15:16 When you mentioned that he arrived with video evidence, I imagined him standing in front of a screen with a PowerPoint titled "I did not cheat on you" projected onto it, ready to give a presentation demonstrating his innocence and it's great.
Im confused where did this writer get the idea that italian wives are traditionally quiet and silent and submissive. Italy is sexist but its a completely different sort of sexism, she portrayed a very slavic trophy wife stereotype instead.
That's the Western idea of Slavic trophy wife. In Poland sexism also exists but it's not your typical American shit. But there's an interesting dynamic when it comes to modern mysogonists (and so called "conservatives"). They soak in Western conservative ideology like a soap while accusing the more progressive part of our society of giving up Polish culture Which is always funny because it gives an opening to ask "what do you mean by Polish culture?". The Poland from our golden age was relatively progressive, multinational, multicultural and multireligious. Maybe this is the Poland we should try rebuilding. Imagine a Polish city where half of the population doesn't speak Polish
I am now very curious to know the type of misogyny in other countries. In my country, there's the 'why should we teach our girls anything but housewife stuff/ spend anything on our girls, she'll just go to her husband's house afterall' and 'I'll go on to have as many daughters as needed until I get at least one son', which are more in your face. Then there's the 'when are you going to marry?' as soon as you turn 20, the 'how many children? ? Only daughters? Of course, it doesn't matter. Nowadays daughters arenas good as sons' and the expectation of girls and women to know and help around with traditional housewife stuff while men lounge around watching TV. And there's victim blaming, calling women impure while she's menstruating, and all that lovely stuff.
@@safala In Poland I encountered things like ,,Shut your mouth, you're a girl". Also presenting women in media as stupid. If they see a bad driver most of the men will say ,,What the hell is SHE doing?" I didn't see much misoginy, because most of my family is women, but it's like that
Nothing like opening with "I'm feeding into the toxic relationship of doing things my fans want, but I don't love, by forcing myself to watch and read every source of trash media about toxic relationships".
But she also points out all the toxic tropes/things that many young people (especially women) don’t realise are giant red flags in relationships/men, so it’s a double-edged sword 🤔 Like in Twilight, so many young women idolised this stalking creep of a boyfriend and it wasn’t until it started getting a lot of TH-camrs covering it that those same young women were like “ok maybe I don’t want a boyfriend that will climb into my house at night to watch me sleep and track my every move”
I didn't think they could get worse than 50 Shades. But this guy *tricks her* into getting pregnant?? This series is on a whole other level of "50 Shades of f*cked up". Edit: Holy crap guys, thanks for all the likes! I didn't expect this to blow up
For real. I thought twilight was bad. 50 shades came, yeah twilight is a better book. This series and now 50 shades is a better book and twilight is a masterpiece.
Seriously. I too like me some power fantasy from time to time even in fiction i need it framed in consensual way otherwise it just creeps me out. The fact that this shit is popular with so many middle ages women is mind boggling to me.
It's 7am after a sleepless night and hearing Amanda saying, "Fuck me, Don Massimo." with all of her heart is the exact dose of internet I need to wake up
Am I the only one wondering what the people that do the audiobook versions of these must be thinking? Like, how many takes do they need to keep a straight face and not laugh all the time? Imagine you have to get into character for shit like this 🙈
I think there's a polish audiobook version where the author herself reads it. She doesn't have a pleasant voice tho so apart from the book being bad it's also difficult to listen to:D
By romanticizing manipulative and abusive behavior, it puts the bar so low. "Omg he asks for consent he's the best" Like that's literally where the bar is 😑
Yeah... Once whenI was at a party, and there was also a couple I knew. The girl was pretty drunk and the box was helping her to stand, keeping distance. One of my closest friends was sitting next to me and she said that 'omg he is such a great guy, he doesn't take advantage of the situation.' I told her that this is the bare minimum, it doesn't make him cool. She insisted that yes, it makes him a very good dude. And it is also sad, because I kinda understand it: having bigger expectations than that makes you seem like a weirdo who sets the bar unreasonably high.
@@donnamitsuki281 One of my friends made a list and she included that "he doesn't took off the condom without the girl knowing it" because she knew somebody who it happened with. All the other stuff were very basic as well. She agreed though that it's very sad that she felt she needed to include these. And now she's constantly dating and completely forget about her friends. She doesn't even talk to some of us because finding a guy became this important. It makes me pretty sad.
@@chrisq.6987 there are people like that who feel valueable only when in a relationship :( it is really easy to manipulate them and to have them break contact with their friends who could notice what a relationship it is and who are considered a threat by the manipulator
I don't see what the 'improvement' is meant to be? Czarny has different connotations in Polish than Black has in English. Like how in the Witcher that Nilfgaardian army is referred to as Czarni (The Blacks) because of their all black armour. It is not a racial connotation in Polish in any way, so I do not understand why it is an 'improvement'. It's a translation that fits the culture of the language it is being translated into, that is hardly an 'improvement'
@@BooksandBuns lol I don't think they were insinuating it was better due to a race thing... I think it was just because the original nickname lacked any creativity whatsoever. And the Man in Black at least sounds a little dramatic. But I could be wrong 🤷♀️
@@cremetangerine82 I mean, these books don't spend a lot of time discussing how miscarriage or being shot or SA'ed or anything similar affects people long term. It's just trauma, a page later they kiss/ have sex/ whatever and then it's forgotten, not to be seen again until the trauma is yet again convenient for the 'plot'. However, the trauma they give us does last 365 years.
16:33 it's funny the text says "do you think I would have cheated on you with someone I despise" and not "do you think I would have cheated on you". So he is still open to cheating on her but not with someone he despises?😅
365 Days: Vile relationships, Stockholm syndrome glamorized, romanticized abuse and manipulation. Everyone: There's no way it could get any worse. 365 Days Writer: Bet
I would love to do a comparative analysis on these kind of romanicised abusive relationships and Jane Austen novels. They're like on complete opposite ends of the spectrum. Jane Austen practically invented the modern genre or romance and it's modern tropes. All the heros are the kindest and most good and noble, but no bland cardboard cut out prince charming and have actual depth. Then there's the mess with 365 and 50 Shades. But there opposites in other ways as Austen's book has no physical displays of affection (the most you ever get is structured dance) and though I love them they can be very boring in terms of content. Here there's gun fights!
Gun fights and Jane Austen aren't mutually exclusive. Books like _Pride, Prejudice and Zombies_ or _Sense, Sensibility and Sea Monsters_ exist and don't seem to change too much the romance parts
It's also interesting that Austen helped codify the "romance leads start off not liking each other but then fall in love" but later works completely miss what make it work in Austen's book. Lizzy Bennett and Mr. Darcy start off on the wrong foot, but as they better communicate, realize their mistakes, and grow as people they realize "holy shit you're really great and I really do like you a lot". They earn their relationship through their respective character development and we don't see enough of that in other romance stories, which I wish we did.
It's really weird, because I'm in my late 30s and grew up on regency romance novels that were the in-between - inspired directly from Austen with the same concentration on clever dialogue, constant tension between the leads, but, yanno, lots of sex, only it was written in a much more emotional, flowery sort of manner (Bridgerton is from this era). And then we got...whatever the hell we have now, and I don't understand where that other genre went, but I miss it.
@@mirandatilley2486 Yes, the important thing about the relationship of Lizzy and Mr. Darcy is that he actually makes up for the mistakes he made, once he realizes them and, very important, when he asks her for her hand the second time, he makes it clear that he will ask her once more and accept her decision, even if he doesn't like it. He gets a 'Yes' and deserves it, but had she said 'No,' he would have accepted it and left her alone. He's not just a jerk who 'gets better,' he's a guy who misinterprets some situations and is just not that socially suave and realizes where he went wrong and does his best to make up for his mistakes. You have to respect that.
I legit don't get why this kind of fiction romanticizing controlling, manipulative men in a relationship with a woman is so popular, especially among said female demographic like older women I thoughts mom's would have standards lol
Don't quote me on this, but I think it might have something to do with the idea that women aren't supposed to want things. So if a man sweeps you off your feet somewhat against your will but does literally everything you ever wanted, it's a more interesting read than if it's a purely loving couple (there's no drama in that, just smut). Like getting to experience something shocking you wouldn't agree with in a safe, controlled environment like watching a horror film. If you have any interest in talking about it, I've kind of come up with some theories on why things like omegaverse and noncon in boys love or girls love stories get so much more backing and interest than everyday type relationships, as well. Being an avid reader, I've seen all sorts of stories.
My theory is that it's the male's obsession with the female character... It is an understandable fantasy when your partner doesn't listen to you or notices you or pay any attention to you, when you feel ignored, someone so focused on you as an escape in fiction functions well...
I think we can all agree, this is the true reason for these books/films existing!!! Amanda deserves a medal. Lady Amanda the Jedi of Canada, first of her name.
Ok, ladies, WHY do some/all romance novels seem to romanticize literal psychopathic abusers? This isn't about bad boys.. these guys are usually batshit crazy. Even reading "Discovery of Witches" was surprisingly cringe and uncomfortable.
Honestly I have no idea so I’m thinking of conducting an experiment and might write a story like this, but the twist is it’ll actually be well written with an actual plot and character development and see if it does well or not.
They want a wild ride. I read a romance novel about a FBI agent being trapped in a creepy small town with an accused serial killer who she falls for. Would I really go after an accused serial killer? NOOOOOOOO not in a million years. I can separate fantasy from reality and sometimes it's fun read or watch or play something problematic. It's the same as playing GTA. You probably don't actually want to be Trevor it's just crazy escapism.
I have no goddamned idea. I am more of a softboy girl; I like bad boys, but more as characters than love interests. And obviously they have to be well-written, or else they are just, well, terrible people. And if terrible people was what I am looking for... Well, internet is full of assholes, lmao.
Hey as sum1 w psychosis pls dont call ppl psychopaths that is not only an outdated term but also a derogatory term used to demean ppl w psychosis so if u wld just call the abusers megalomaniac sadist assholes or just abusers that wld b gr8 👍
I know I'm old, but I almost died laughing when I saw the altered photo of Edward Cullen holding a can of WD40. Seriously, I had to pause the video and go back and pause on it and laugh for a minute before continuing. What's also extremely humorous is how over-saturated with exclamation points the quotes from the text are. I sincerely hope this kind of fiction is not actually someone's idea of "romance," because there is NOTHING romantic about being throttled by literally everyone you encounter.
Unfortunately, the lousy miss 'author' actually claims this is her idea of perfect romance. She claims that she wrote this from her personal experiences. (Ugh, the crap that comes of this woman's mouth is unbelievable...) And she's not saying it ironically. She thinks all women should aspire to this kind of 'romance'.
What is up with all the throat grabbing/slamming in this book? It’s written like it’s supposed to be romantic. Also, these books keep getting worse and worse. Fifty Shades? Bad. After? Horrible. 365 Days? The worst. They keep lowering the bar.
I'm honestly terrified about the next addition to this hellish list. It went from 50 shades to After to 365 days, it kept getting worse and more and more vile, to a point where the plot is literal kidnapping and forced pregnancy. If they make something worse somehow... It scares me. Because it most likely will be boderline unethical
I don't understand why someone would name that a supposed mobster. Like, nacho is short for " ignacio", now " don ignacio" does sounds more serious and threatening ( well, the " don" is not very used in spain anymore except for very important people and in certain formal situations, but yeah)
Okay, what is wrong with me? When she said "it was their wedding day," my mind just went "it was their wedding day. They were getting ready and there wasn't a cloud in the sky"
1) The endless amount of torture you commit yourself to inspired me to finally watch CATS. 2) I was happy living life having completely forgotten about this sequel.
What is more funny is that if you google it, it says his name is actually Marcelo "nacho" Matos. Like, as if nacho was a nickname or short for marcelo and i am like ..but nacho is short for ignacio, wtf??? And yeah, the lastname was not very subtle, could have just called him " Armando Guerra." 🤣🤣🤣
Even if I understood it was the twin with Anna, I would take that chance to leave Massimo anyway. And being that rough with someone who's PREGNANT?! These books needs to be burned... I detest books about the mafia, romanticizing them is insane considering the horrible things they do.
This reads like a black veil brides fanfic I wrote at 13. From the countless conflicts to the dramatic “we can’t save them both”. Maybe I could’ve made some money had I finished writing it 😂
I'm glad we're continuing the gut punch of knowing at the end of the first movie that is "Laura gets kidnapped and has a love triangle with 2 psychotic idiots" Edit: Oh... oh my god it's somehow worse and... more
I'm not even into such stories or ever watched 365days, but I love Amandas voice and storytelling xD it's relaxing to listen to you and also had a good laugh the whole video trough haha ty for enduring all this pain while reading
Ikr. I have never watched or read any of the creepy Movie, films e.g. 365, fifty shades or twilight. I don't care about the plot, I just find it funny the way he talks about it. I skip the very cringy bits though it's too much and embarrassing
A good rule of thumb for me if I'm writing any passage for any story that involves sex in any way is "if you can hear Amanda reading this in one of her videos, don't write it."
Amanda you are a brave woman. I get disgusted by just the idea of these type of books. The fact that you not only watch the movies, you read the books which is always even more detailed than any movie can be. I know that I can't handle doing this.
I just wrote a book with 62,832 words of sex, followed by a book with 77,610 words of sex. I’m currently writing the final book in the trilogy and I’m running out of new ways for these characters to screw LOL! I miss writing books with an actual plot. 🤣
Conversation with Mom while watching this. Me: This is what you get when you publish a fanfiction of a fanfiction of a fanfiction. Mom: Yep...this is literally literary inbreeding. Me:...OMG!! THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THIS IS!!!🤣🤣🤣

@@whyisthisdifferentnow well my guess is as follows: both Aleksander (male name), and Aleksandra (female name) were and are very popular in Poland. However, they are very popular in Russia and Ukraine where the name is spelled as "Oleksandr" and "Oleksandra". So the shortened version of "Ola" and "Olek" are influenced by eastern spelling. And "Oluś" (for boy), "Olusia" (for girl) is another form of diminutive of these names, just like "Olek" and "Ola"
@@halinasarapata5611 omg you are amazing! That makes perfect sense. Now, I’m questioning the Ukrainian lady that works with us, who’s name is Olesia. Is THAT just a nickname?! Lol also, Joanna / Asia and the silent K is Ksawery. What the hell, Poland?! 😂 I do love the name Ksawery, though. It’s super cool, to me. Last thing, I swear, is it weird to call and elderly man Michał? I feel like that name is only for really young men and boys. I can’t see myself calling a 50+ year old man, Michał. I’m weird, I know. Again, thanks and sorry for the rambling.
@@whyisthisdifferentnow 1) Well, I'm not an expert when it comes to Ukrainian names, but it seems to me that "Olesia" is either a full name or diminutive form "Oleksandra" 2) With Joanna and Asia things are more complicated, but I'll try my best. So Joanna is a name of Greek-Roman origin and it was created as a female version of "Iohannes" which is basically "John". In Polish we have our verion of "John" ---> "Jan". Diminutive of "Jan" is "Jaś, Jasio, Jasiek" so following this path "Asia" (diminutive of "Joanna") was created from "Jasia" (female version of "Jasio") by simply dropping "J" at the beginning. Nevertheless, in Polish we have two female counterparts of "Jan" - Joanna, as already mentioned, and "Janina" - which are two completely different names :P 3) Well Ksawery was in the past (and sometimes still is now) spelled as "Xawery" so I guess that is why the "k" sometimes seems to be silent. But hey, you too have these situations: all "kn" or "psy" instances ;) 4) Well, Michał is a classic, full name, just like Michael, so it is perfectly fine for a male of any age :D Hope this helps xD I won't lie, that I'm a little bit of a nerd, and I love etymology, so it was fun for me to dig around :D
@@halinasarapata5611 you are the absolute greatest! I know Michał is a full name, it just sounds like it should be a nickname, for a younger man. 😂 The older spelling for Ksawery makes the name make so much more sense. Ok, if you're wondering who these movies/books are actually made for - I'm Polish and I know people who UNIRONICALLY like this series. And, being a generally conservative country, it's a pretty popular view here. Maybe not the actual majority, but enough to fund these dumb movies.
No yeah I live in Indonesia and i know those kinds of people too, there are TONS of shitty abusive mafia wattpad stories disguised as romance. Guess our countries got something in common lol

yeah about the way the gay character was written and Laura's reaction - lots of Polish people are still queerphobic and ancient in ways of thinking. it's a common known fact here that you shouldn't wear a rainbow badge proudly or you might get beaten up. there was a case about three years ago when two girls were brutally beaten up just because they were holding hands. bigotry is very... widespread. not in all of us, of course - the queer population is massive, but powerless against the very pro-Christian current government (but that's a whole other conversation). edit: wow, okay, things changed, but my point about the state of the polish society still stands
Yikes people beat up others just for holdong hands? I'm queer but I also hold hands with my friends. Platonically. People need to stop being such pieces of shit.
I will always be confused shit like this does so well. I only ever see people loving the use of safe words and aftercare in smutty fanfiction so what part of the internet are these coming from???? Like I understand if someone’s into degradation, but there’s a difference between agreed upon degradation and plain ole abuse.
same lol. most of the smutty fanfics i've read were great, even the bdsm ones. the authors knew how important consent is, and yet somehow stories like After and 50 shades got the recognition.

I mean it's a fantasy. Like, for the reader who's into it and probably self-inserting at least a little, it's consensual non-consent. (Even if it's just rape and abuse for the characters) I dunno the numbers exactly but iirc there was some study (or maybe survey? it was years ago so I don't really remember) that found out a pretty huge percentage of women have had some form of rape fantasies. Like, iirc almost 50%. And I personally have a bit of that, like not the being physically abused and getting beat up and shit. But there's just something about the fantasy of a dude being so into you he goes insane that's somehow kinda hot. (If you're into pain/bdsm I can see getting smacked around or talked down to being part of it.) I definitely wouldn't wanna get kidnapped and taken to a hot rich criminals tropical island retreat irl, but it's fun to read about it. There's a reason I always go for the bad ends and yandere characters when I play otome games lol.
@@MsLilly200 i feel like there’s a difference between con non-con in fan works/non main stream media and when it takes place in a property people who may not have already been seeking out that content can readily watch. What happens in this and other properties like it steps over the line of con non-con and into the territory of straight up abuse which then many who don’t know much about bdsm, con non-con, etc will think is normal behavior for bdsm relationships. We saw it with 50 shades. A ton of people who only knew about bdsm from 50 shades flooded the community thinking what happens in that movie/book is how it typically is when it’s really not. One of my favorite otome characters literally choked mc to death, and I’ve written plenty of con non-con scenarios, so I’m not against the idea. But, when it’s poorly written examples of these situations in the main stream it’s going to make people think this is how things go which can put them into harmful situations when this is their only exposure. Having a specific fantasy and seeking something out for that is different than being introduced to this kind of fantasy through media that handles it very poorly. I think it’s shitty that instead of actual good examples of con non-con scenarios in these kinds of media, we just get abuse.
@@Myr642 Yeah I definitely agree that it sucks when it's the really shitty stories that get popular with the mainstream crowd. I personally think the only really bad thing about noncon and stuff like it in mainstream media though is.. Well, there aren't really the same systems to categorize and warn people about what's in stuff. In fanfics most fics are properly tagged and rated, with warnings about the things that might trigger people. With published books you'll get a short summary if you're lucky or a few different "I loved this book -reporter" if you're not. If you want to find out stuff that would just be easily accessible in fanfic tags, you have to actually search around for reviews and stuff. I'd like to give people the benefit of doubt and assume they can separate reality from fiction, and do a little actual research when they get into stuff like bdsm, but unfortunately a lot of people just don't do that. I do wonder why better examples of these fantasies don't become as popular as the garbage. It's probably just up to luck.
Are you lost baby gorl? Yes. Apparently so. How can I be anything but lost in a world where this is the kind of thing people apparently want to read? Confusion.
Wow. Just wow. I figured 365 is horror dressed like, um, romance??? Especially when you get to the aroused by throat grabbing part. My soul died in a very painful way there. Thank you for your sacrifice. I love how you discuss these series.
The fact that I completely forgot about all of the toxicity in this series upon learning that there might be *TWO Michele Morrones* in the sequel...maybe I need an extra session with my therapist this week

I was stuck inside her brain and I hate her now. Dakota actually made me like her. Kinda. In the first film. Kinda.
It makes me genuinely upset that books like this get world wide attention/fans and yet the Mastering Bella series that is just as steamy but actually has an interesting plot, gut wrenching twists, character development and a great portrayal of a healthy (at least by the third book) bdsm and D/S relationship is stranded in literotica to never see the light of day

when I head "Don Massimo" I started laughing thinking about the Italian series "Don Matteo". thank you to the writer for the image of Massimo as a priest. possibly the best thing that came out of these books
XD But it gets more absurd, as the actor who played Massimo in the movie got his big break in Italy in a fantasy show where he played the last triton/merman fleeing from mermaids who kept using him as a bull for reproductive purposes. And then it got weird
There’s a book series “A touch of…” (a touch of darkness, a touch of ruin, a touch of madness, etc) that’s a retelling of Persephone and Hades and it’s… 90% sex. The first book was like 50% sex and had an interesting plot until the sex started, but the next two (and the fourth is supposedly coming soon lol) are just sex scene after sex scene. At really inappropriate places and times. Like, disturbing. Anyway, I’d love for you to do a video about them :)

Maybe that was true back in the 70s when Mario Puzzo wrote _The Godfather,_ but now is the XXI century, even the Italian mob can't help but advance with the times a little
They don’t speak till you f**k with their family. Then they’ll make it so you can never speak again.

Things like this would have made it so much better and also make it a parody commenting on the absurdity of these kinds of books/movies.
Im confused where did this writer get the idea that italian wives are traditionally quiet and silent and submissive. Italy is sexist but its a completely different sort of sexism, she portrayed a very slavic trophy wife stereotype instead.
Oh hell no. There's nothing quiet about a Slavic wife. Not even a trophy-wife. We don't do quiet and submissive. :D
That's the Western idea of Slavic trophy wife. In Poland sexism also exists but it's not your typical American shit. But there's an interesting dynamic when it comes to modern mysogonists (and so called "conservatives"). They soak in Western conservative ideology like a soap while accusing the more progressive part of our society of giving up Polish culture
Which is always funny because it gives an opening to ask "what do you mean by Polish culture?".
@@safala are you from South Asian country? It's the same here in India as well

Nothing like opening with "I'm feeding into the toxic relationship of doing things my fans want, but I don't love, by forcing myself to watch and read every source of trash media about toxic relationships".
But she also points out all the toxic tropes/things that many young people (especially women) don’t realise are giant red flags in relationships/men, so it’s a double-edged sword 🤔
Like in Twilight, so many young women idolised this stalking creep of a boyfriend and it wasn’t until it started getting a lot of TH-camrs covering it that those same young women were like “ok maybe I don’t want a boyfriend that will climb into my house at night to watch me sleep and track my every move”

It's like when girls have these lists about the ideal guy and there is "must be faithful" like GIRL THAT SHOULD BE THE DEFAULT
@@donnamitsuki281 One of my friends made a list and she included that "he doesn't took off the condom without the girl knowing it" because she knew somebody who it happened with. I need Amanda to know that in Polish Laura calls Massimo "Czarny", which literally means "Black". The "Man in Black" is a translation improvement.
It's shown in the video
Didn't Ana call Christian "Grey" our 50 shades or something? This just further convinces me this is bad fanfiction.
@@meebhasarrived at least christian’s last name is grey so it comes from somewhere 😭

I would totally read your analysis, sounds very interesting.
I legit don't get why this kind of fiction romanticizing controlling, manipulative men in a relationship with a woman is so popular, especially among said female demographic like older women
I thoughts mom's would have standards lol
It seems to me like these women are trying to justify to themselves why they ended up with the men they did.
My theory is that it's the male's obsession with the female character... It is an understandable fantasy when your partner doesn't listen to you or notices you or pay any attention to you, when you feel ignored, someone so focused on you as an escape in fiction functions well...
@@the_medievalchick that too probably

Random question. Why is the nickname for Aleksander, Oluś? That confused the absolute hell out of me, when I first started working here in Poland.
Again, thanks and sorry for the rambling.
@@whyisthisdifferentnow 1) Well, I'm not an expert when it comes to Ukrainian names, but it seems to me that "Olesia" is either a full name or diminutive form "Oleksandra"
2) With Joanna and Asia things are more complicated, but I'll try my best. Nevertheless, in Polish we have two female counterparts of "Jan" - Joanna, as already mentioned, and "Janina" - which are two completely different names :P
3) Well Ksawery was in the past (and sometimes still is now) spelled as "Xawery" so I guess that is why the "k" sometimes seems to be silent. But hey, you too have these situations: all "kn" or "psy" instances ;)
4) Well, Michał is a classic, full name, just like Michael, so it is perfectly fine for a male of any age :D
Hope this helps xD I won't lie, that I'm a little bit of a nerd, and I love etymology, so it was fun for me to dig around :D
@@halinasarapata5611 you are the absolute greatest! I know Michał is a full name, it just sounds like it should be a nickname, for a younger man. 😂 The older spelling for Ksawery makes the name make so much more sense. I do love the breakdown of Joanna and I had no clue Jaś was for Jan. Roll call makes so much more sense, now. I understand all of the different breakdowns a bit more with my children. Lol
I'm starting to feel bad for having so much fun watching Amandas' descent into madness.
I have no interest in these movies or books, but I absolutely love your commentary on these topics. Your videos are amazing!
"I just can't imagine that that nice boy would kill me." said everyone around every murderer.
Why does that sound like something a confused grandma would say?
@@sunnyandthechlo exactly
I remember Quinn Curio's vid on this movie and there's a part where she just basks in the absolute adorable and non creepiness of Olga x Laura, and I just want everone to know that you can always go Team Olga like me (even if just to spite Massifuck)
I had gone Team Olga the minute I saw her greet Laura. However, Team Nacho isn't that bad either.
Ok, if you're wondering who these movies/books are actually made for - I'm Polish and I know people who UNIRONICALLY like this series.
There's a certain subset of "old-fashioned" women, who believe a man should be controlling and violent, because those are actual "masculine" traits.
And, being a generally conservative country, it's a pretty popular view here. Maybe not the actual majority, but enough to fund these dumb movies.
Yikes :(
⁰0⁰
Funny, because Blanka Lipińska said many times that her books are feminist.
No yeah I live in Indonesia and i know those kinds of people too, there are TONS of shitty abusive mafia wattpad stories disguised as romance. Guess our countries got something in common lol
@@masumi1990x Yeah, I feel like the type of misogyny that calls itself feminist is quite popular in Poland.
I thought you were gonna say the kid who played Dustin shouldn't be legally allowed to watch it cause it feels like yesterday he was just a little kid in Zoey 101 but NOPE IT'S WORSE
Wait why? What’s up?
Now I have to go look
update: Ew lol 😬
Wait what’s the context I can’t find anything lmao
I wanna know too, what's up?
@@NukaCorgi and @Toastwhispererr Amanda showed a clip in the video of his Tik Toks where he was like watching the 365 movie and the googling "how to become an Italian mob boss" and it's a joke but it's not a funny one
"Oh buddy, you're getting way more than you bargained for when you assumed she was going to be a perfect little submissive princess."
😆
You make me forget about my depression for a while and make me laugh till I cry so thank you for that and for your quality content. It is greatly appreciated 🖤
yeah about the way the gay character was written and Laura's reaction - lots of Polish people are still queerphobic and ancient in ways of thinking. it's a common known fact here that you shouldn't wear a rainbow badge proudly or you might get beaten up. there was a case about three years ago when two girls were brutally beaten up just because they were holding hands. bigotry is very... widespread. not in all of us, of course - the queer population is massive, but powerless against the very pro-Christian current government (but that's a whole other conversation).
edit: wow, okay, things changed, but my point about the state of the polish society still stands
Slurphobic
Yikes people beat up others just for holdong hands? I'm queer but I also hold hands with my friends. Platonically. People need to stop being such pieces of shit.
@@fredericabernkastel8354 I'm sure the homosexual people of Poland love being called an old American slur
@@fredericabernkastel8354 queer isnt a slur, it used to be but we've reclaimed it. i'm queer and happy to call myself that

I am too invested in this story through you 😂 team Nacho all the way.
Same. Team Alice, Team idk, Team Nacho.
Ah yeah, "50 Shades of Stockholm Syndrome 2: Electric Boogaloo..."
I Fucking hate this series...
@IgorBazelan said in another comment: Ok, if you're wondering who these movies/books are actually made for - I'm Polish and I know people who UNIRONICALLY like this series.

I mean it's a fantasy. Like, for the reader who's into it and probably self-inserting at least a little, it's consensual non-consent. (Even if it's just rape and abuse for the characters)
I dunno the numbers exactly but iirc there was some study (or maybe survey? it was years ago so I don't really remember) that found out a pretty huge percentage of women have had some form of rape fantasies. Like, iirc almost 50%.
And I personally have a bit of that, like not the being physically abused and getting beat up and shit. But there's just something about the fantasy of a dude being so into you he goes insane that's somehow kinda hot. (If you're into pain/bdsm I can see getting smacked around or talked down to being part of it.)
I definitely wouldn't wanna get kidnapped and taken to a hot rich criminals tropical island retreat irl, but it's fun to read about it.
Confusion.
I have seen literal porn comics with a more thoughtful story.
Wow. Just wow. I figured 365 is horror dressed like, um, romance??? Especially when you get to the aroused by throat grabbing part. My soul died in a very painful way there. Thank you for your sacrifice. I love how you discuss these series.
Honestly I’m team Nacho too! I’d kick “Are you lost baby girl?” to the curb!
Team Nacho because book 3 is even worse
the third one somehow managed to be even worse, so brace yourself.
I am bracing myself for the book but am very excited for Amanda's review.
can't wait for the review of that
ugh no no no no no
amanda is so real for admitting she reads twilight fanfiction sometimes. we've all been there
Amanda: "That tight little butt-" and gets cut off by an Ad.
Edit: you can't drop the Edward Cullen with the WD40! I am deceased.
PLEASE make a video about the movie, it has been on Netflix in over 24 hours already! GO GO GO!!
we once again appreciate your sacrifice
im sorry amanda you dont deserve this
The fact that I completely forgot about all of the toxicity in this series upon learning that there might be *TWO Michele Morrones* in the sequel...maybe I need an extra session with my therapist this week
15:57 I was reading 50 Shades thinking WHY OH WHY does Christian even like this woman? She's so insufferable!
(I mean, Christian sucks too but Anna's suckiness was so obvious coz it was from her perspective)
But then I saw the movie and was like OHHH he doesn't have to hear her think. I was stuck inside her brain and I hate her now.
Dakota actually made me like her. Kinda. In the first film. Kinda.
RIP amanda's sanity
Her sacrifice was heroic🤣
It makes me genuinely upset that books like this get world wide attention/fans and yet the Mastering Bella series that is just as steamy but actually has an interesting plot, gut wrenching twists, character development and a great portrayal of a healthy (at least by the third book) bdsm and D/S relationship is stranded in literotica to never see the light of day
"I need to nap- it's 10:41 i need to nap"
I am watching this at 10:42 am lmao- i was a little caught off guard
This series still gives me nightmares when I think about it
when you said butt stuff (18:42) i really had a brief moment of optimistic clarity where i thought, nay, even hoped, that Laura would peg Massimo and he loves it and it changes the whole trajectory of the book in a beautiful way
fool that i am

A salute 👏 to your sacrifices for us all!
Okay but the fact that this lady called a Spanish character Nacho.... Is she going to introduce the Chinese mafia, which will be led by Don Noodle? And then Russian mafia, led by Don Borscht? I could go on but I'm not going to beat a dead horse 😩
German pimp: Torsten Aufschnitt.
Did you know Nacho is actually a Spanish name? It's short for Ignacio. My cousin's name is Nacho.
I was actually watching your video for Cats when I saw that you'd uploaded this. I can only say thank you for all that you suffer in the name of creating top quality entertainment for us.
I worship you. The power you hold to get through these books and movies and shows, I can only dream of that power.
“There is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written, or badly written. That is all.” Oscar Wilde.
Honestly, I lost it after finding out the "gardener's" name was Nacho. I mean...Earth to Laura!
Lol twin brother. Thanks Amanda for taking one for the team cheering us up during these tough times. I havent read the books but by the first movie they make 50 shades look like a masterpiece lol
thank you for putting yourself through this for us Amanda! :)))) truly appreciated!!!
I hate that I am also team nacho now? Especially since all I can imagine now is it going like…
Nacho: You need to leave this guy
Laura: But I can’t run away with you
Nacho: What? Oh honey, no, I didn’t mean leave him for ME, I just meant Leave Him??? He’s a tool???
when I head "Don Massimo" I started laughing thinking about the Italian series "Don Matteo". thank you to the writer for the image of Massimo as a priest. possibly the best thing that came out of these books
XD But it gets more absurd, as the actor who played Massimo in the movie got his big break in Italy in a fantasy show where he played the last triton/merman fleeing from mermaids who kept using him as a bull for reproductive purposes. And then it got weird
You said "Don Matteo", and I thought of "Don Camillo" 😂 Any of his films are lightyears away in quality terms compared to this crap
A reader : This is so romantic
A Nornal Person: THIS IS FRICKING ABUSE
I’m looking forward to the second movie so I can enjoy Amanda’s puns 😊😊 Top tier comedy right there!
I am so lost. I have no words. Amanda! Thank you for taking the bullet for me. It’s way more fun to have you along on these weird story rides! 😎
Oh my god yesss I would die to see her reaction on Touch of darkness..
thank you for your sacrifices 😌❤️
