@@eoinnofallamhain8936 They tried back in 1936, but it was a failure to ally with the Axis, and taking Somalia besides the Somaliland, and Ethiopia was a pretty powerful independent country, but The Allies had better manpower and more African land, so if they had more time, they might've been able to expand larger.

The scoring system in Imperator: Rome is different in that it tries to represent how well nations did relative to their starting position and not rank objectively how powerful each nation is at the end.
which is actually pretty cool. do we know how it specifically calculates that?
@@KriegerT Somewhat. It's based on amount of pops and pop happiness. It just means that if you start as a big empire it might feel like you don't really accomplish a lot since your score changes very slowly. On the other hand, if you start as something like Sparta or some random tribe and you conquer some stuff your score really bumps up so that's fun to see

Vlasis V what? No they come from the Italian peninsula. But technically you are right because after the fall of the western Roman Empire the Byzantine Empire was still rome but everyone was Greek and spoke Greek

The Romans founded one of the greatest empires in history, the Italians have trouble figuring out what side they want to be on in a war. They're not even close to the same. That's like calling the Celts that inhabited Britain the same as English people.

Caesar did conquer Britain, but shortly after Rome lost Britain again. so the true conquest was Claudius. but he wasnt the first
@@daanwiemers7937 Depends what you consider a conquest tbh. His first invasion definitely failed. But he did succeed second try. However, he left Britain with hostages and the promise of a tribute that was probably never paid, without leaving a single Roman soldier in Britain, so yeah, his invasion was successful, but personally I don't really consider it a 'conquest'.

Byzantium was a Greek city state before it got conquered by Rome. Eastern Rome took it's name FROM the city state of Byzantium.
They never took that name themselves though, did they?
storrooo Nope, and it was renamed Constantinople by Constantine the Great... so yeah there wasn’t a actual important city called Byzantion in the Roman Empire, it only got great after it got renamed
Eastern Rome did not take its name from Byzantium, they just called themselves Eastern Rome but historians decided to call them Byzantium instead.

Drew its called Byzantion (Byzantium) because that is the name of the city. It existed before the Romans and after them. The Byzantine Empire is known as such because Byzantion (Byzantium, Constantinople) was the capital, that's what the nice little city is.
The Bactrians were left over Greek settlers from Alexander’s conquests in Afghanistan.
You should have all the countries ending in “Stan” unite into one country or faction. ie. Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and tajikistan

Dunno if u gonna read this Drew, but if u wanna.. spectate on Imperator again, don't just look at the 'Score board'. It only takes Expansion and pop happiness into account and divides it by a starting position divider. So if u start with 1 tile but u explode, u gonna be first.
There is however a ledger that is showing pops, tiles, military strength and so on, and I think u should look at that in the future.
Just wanna say keep up the nice videos, they help me through the annoying quarantine and they are as entertaining as ever!

The final score in Imperator is weighted based on the starting power of each nation. The weaker the start, the higher the score. This means that a weaker nation can have a larger final score than a stronger nation because it had a much weaker start than the stronger nation.
Hopefully Drew sees this; he's done quite a few Imperator videos and hasnt figured it out yet.

8:31 Byzantium was originally a Greek City. Later named Constantinople and *even later* and currently named Istanbul. The Romans took that area. Then the Roman Empire eventually split. The Byzantine Empire was named after Constantinople because the city priory know as Byzantium. So umm... Kinda disappointing you don’t know this...
